GPS L5 Acquisition Schemes for Rapid Code Phase Search and Fine Doppler Determination (GPS L5 신호에서 신속한 코드위상 재검색 및 정밀 도플러 결정 기법)

  • According to the GPS modernization, L5 is the third civilian GPS signal, broadcasts in a radio band reserved exclusively for aviation safety services. However, as the code length of GPS L5 is ten times longer than that of GPS L1, the acquisition processing time in GPS L5 takes longer than that of L1. This characteristics make the code phase detected initially change and cause the tracking loop to unlock. In order to overcome this problem, this paper proposes L5 acquisition schemes for the rapid code phase re-search and the fine doppler determination. The feasibility of the proposed scheme is demonstrated through the simulation results.

  • 다양한 지형정보를 제공하는 SAR 인터페로메트리 기법은 레이다의 위상정보를 이용하여 정밀 고도정보를 추출하는 첨단기술이다. SAR 데이터 주파수 aliasing 현상은 도플러 중심 주파수가 중심에 위치하지 않으므로 발생된느 것으로 주요 잡음요인으로 작용된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 SAR 인터페로메드리 전체 프로세싱 과정의 주요 모듈중 하나인 주파수 aliasing 제거 모듈의 구현 방안을 연구하였다. 본 논문에서 사용된 aliasing 제거 기법은 랩어라운드교정기법으로서 실험결과 매우 효과적으로 작용하였음을 알 수 있었으며, 제안된 구현방안은 차후 실제 적용이 가능함을 제시하였다.

  • In a fluid velocity measurement radar, the velocity information can be extracted from Doppler spectrum estimates of the return signal. However, the Doppler frequency ranges are too low for the case of low velocity profile measurements resulting in the serious effects in the velocity measurement. Therefore, the improved method is analyzed to overcome this problem.

  • In modern warfare, the importance of electronic warfare, which carries out a mission that using radio wave to find out enemy information or to protect ally information, has increased. Radar jamming technique is one of the most representative techniques of EA(Electronic Attack), it disturbs and deceives enemy radar system in order to secure ally location information. Velocity deception jamming technique, which is one of the radar jamming techniques, generally operate against pulse-doppler radar which use doppler effect in order to track target's velocity and location. Velocity Deception Jamming Technique can be implemented using DRFM(Digital Radio Frequency Memory) that performs Frequency Modulation. In this paper, I describe implementation method of VGPO/VGPI(Velocity Gate Pull-Off/Pull-In) velocity deception jamming technique using phase-sampled DRFM, and verify the operation of VGPO/VGPI velocity deception jamming technique with board test under signal injection condition.

  • In modern warfare, various target tracking radars are used for target location tracking. So, the importance of EA radar jamming technique which disrupt enemy target tracking radar in oder to neutralize tararget location tracking has increased. VGPO/I jamming is a base technique of EA(Electronic Attack), it is possible to operate to pulse-Doppler radar. In this papar, we develop VGPO/I jamming technique that can apply to phase sampled DRFM by using phase information and verifiy through simulations.

  • In the case of the Pilot Symbol Assisted Modulation (PSAM) method predicting and compensating amplitude and phases caused on fading channels, there can be severe performance deterioration by Doppler spread on fast fading channels. In this paper, the fading compensation method suggested so as to improve occurring problems as well as analyze them. Doppler spread is the major cause of the bit error rate(BER) performance deterioration. Compared to the existing PSAM method, the more performance deterioration occurs, the larger Doppler spread appears but performance shows well its less $10^{-2}BER$ performance than the existing PSAM method in the suggested method whereas the existing PSAM method has about $10^{-1}BER$ its considerable performance deterioration that caused by Doppler spread within a symbol cycle with the level of delay wave interference.

  • Two-dimensional distribution characteristics on the spray droplets emanating from an injector employed in a liquid-propellant thruster are investigated through dual-mode phase Doppler anemometry (DPDA). Spray-breakup characteristic parameters such as spray droplet velocity, turbulent intensity, Sauter mean diameter (SMD), number density, and volumetric flux are quantified to scrutinize the macroscopic behavior of injector-spray breakup. The present study will be able to contribute to the comprehension for performance features of the thruster in current use and to the design engineering of a brand-new thruster as well.

A Visualization of the Spray from Small Liquid-rocket Engine Injector by Dual-mode Phase Doppler Anemometry (이중모드 위상도플러 속도계측기법에 의한 소형 액체로켓엔진 인젝터 분무의 가시화)

  • A focus is given to the breakup behavior of spray droplets issuing from a nonimpinging-type injector. The analysis has been carried out experimentally by means of the dual-mode phase Doppler anemometry (DPDA). Spray characteristic parameters in terms of axial velocity, mean diameter, velocity fluctuation, and span (width of the size distribution) of droplets are measured down the geometric axis of a nozzle orifice and on the plane normal to the spray stream with the injection pressure variations. As the injection pressure increases, the velocity and its fluctuation become higher, whereas the droplet sizes get smaller. It is also shown that the magnitudes of those parameters are smoothed out by dispersion when the droplets move downstream as well as outwardly. The atomization process is significantly influenced by the injection pressure rather than the traveling distance in the experimental condition presented.

Estimation of source signal and channel response using ray-based blind deconvolution technique for Doppler-shifted underwater channel (음선 기반 블라인드 디컨볼루션 기법을 이용한 수중 도플러 편이 채널에서의 송신 신호 및 채널 응답 추정)

  • This paper suggests an estimation method of the source signal and the channel impulse response (CIR) using ray-based blind deconvolution (RBD) in the underwater acoustic channel environment where Doppler effect exists by the relative motion between source and receiver. It is difficult to estimate the CIR on Doppler effect by the matched filter with a highly Doppler-sensitive waveform such as the m-sequence signal because Doppler shift can severely degrade the correlation between the received signal corrupted by Doppler effect and the original source signal. In this study, the Doppler-shifted source-signal's phase is estimated using the RBD, and the received signal is compensated by it to obtain the Doppler-corrected CIR. It is verified that using the matched filter with the received signal from the experimental data fails to estimate the CIR while the obtained CIR by the suggested method has the similarity to the propagation path of the ray model. Also, the results show that the reconstructed source signal using the RBD has the better Doppler shift compensation than the Doppler-shifted source signal derived from scattering function.

Comparisons of ISAR Imaging Methods for Maritime Targets with Real Measured Radar Data (해상 표적의 실제 레이다 측정 데이터를 이용한 ISAR 영상 형성 기법 성능 비교)

  • In this paper, we compared performance of conventional inverse synthetic aperture radar(ISAR) imaging methods for maritime target with real data measured by X-band radar. Following conventional approaches were used for performance comparisons: 1) range instantaneous Doppler(RID) method, 2) range Doppler(RD) processing with phase adjustment, and 3) RD processing with prominent point processing(PPP). It is noteworthy that the comparison results have significance of providing basic concept to establish ISAR imaging frame work for maritime targets.
