In this paper, we developed the web content of statistical analysis using statistical package and Active Server Page (ASP). A statistical package is very difficult to learn and use for non-statisticians, however, non-statisticians want to do analyze the data without learning statistical packages such as SAS, S-plus, and R. Therefore, we developed the web based statistical analysis contents using S-plus which is the popular statistical package and ASP. In real application, we developed the web content for various statistical analyses such as exploratory data analysis, analysis of variance, and time series on the web using water quality data. The developed statistical analysis web content is very useful for non-statisticians such as public service person and researcher. Consequently, combining a web based contents with a statistical package, the users can access the site quickly and analyze data easily.

A web robot is a program that downloads and stores web pages. Implementation issues for developing web robots have been studied widely and various web statistics are reported in the literature. First, this paper describes the overall architecture of our robot and implementation decisions on several important issues. Second, we show empirical statistics on approximately 74 million Korean web pages. Third, we monitored 1,424 Korean web sites to observe the changes of web pages. We identify what factors of web pages could affect the changes. The factors may be used for the selection of web pages to be updated incrementally.

Statistical analysis provides information that can be applied to draw final decisions in many fields. However, statistical analysis program for PC (personal computer) is yet restricted by time and space. To minimize this issue, a server based PC statistic analysis program using internet in addition to web based system allowing statistical analysis have been continually developed. However, the current web based analysis system is limited to the data that is saved on the server. Data that is modified or newly inserted must go through a server administrator before its use in analysis. In order to solve this problem, we have developed a web based system using HTML, java, JSP scripts to incorporate dynamic data without much restriction.

인터넷 기술의 발달과 인터넷 비즈니스의 발전으로 인해 오늘날 사람들은 더욱 많은 시간을 인터넷 상에서 보내고 있다. 사용자가 기업의 웹 사이트를 방문한 기록은 웹 로그파일이라는 형태로 기업의 서버에 남게 되는데 이러한 로그 파일을 이용해 고객의 행동을 더욱 잘 이해하는 것이 매우 중요한 경쟁력의 요소로 자리 잡게 되었다. 이제까지는 웹 로그를 분석하기 위해 웹 로그 분석 도구를 이용해 왔는데, 경영 의사 결정에 도움이 되는 지식을 발견하기보다는 단순한 기술적인 통계량을 구하는데 그쳤다. 본 연구에서는 통계와 데이터마이닝 기법을 웹 데이터에 적용하여 경영 의사 결정에 도움이 되는 의미 있는 정보를 추출한다. 이를 위해 실제 인터넷 기업의 데이터를 기반으로 하여 대량 데이터를 데이터마이닝을 위해 전처리 하는 과정과 준비된 데이터를 분석하는 과정을 소개한다. 웹 사이트의 분석은 경영 지식을 찾아내기 위한 과정으로 개별 사이트가 처한 상황에 따라 분석과정이 상이해 질 수 있기 때문에 실제 기업의 데이터를 가지고 분석해 나가는 과정을 보이는 것은 의미 있는 연구라 생각된다.

컴퓨터 및 네트워크 기술의 발전은 대학 교육에도 많은 변화를 가져오고 있다. 본 연구에서는 웹/멀티미디어를 통한 통계교육용 통합 소프트웨어 iSTAT을 소개한다. 이 소프트웨어는 통계 초보자들을 위한 교육의 일환으로 전통적인 강의 동영상과 전자책(e-book)을 포함하고 있고, 아울러 복잡한 통계이론의 이해를 돕기 위해 고안된 통계강의 보조시스템 CATS와 통계자료분석 실습용 통계패키지 S-Link, 그리고 배운 이론에 대한 평가 모듈이 있다. 이밖에도 관련 이론에 대한 유용한 웹사이트에 링크를 할 수 있다. 이 종합 시스템을 초보자에게 제공함으로서 통계라는 학문을 보다 쉽고 실제 응용이 가능한 학문으로 보급되기를 기대한다.

인터넷 서비스 제공자들이 관심을 가지고 있는 것 중 하나는 인터넷 사용자들의 서비스 이용 패턴과 경향을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 통해 매출 증대와 실제 경영에 도움이 되는 사용자의 특성을 이해할 수 있기 때문이다. 이와 관련된 기본적인 접근방법은 사용자가 웹 서버에 접근했을 때 서버에 남는 웹 로그를 분석하여 사용자 패턴을 분석하는 것이다. 웹 로그 분석에 전형저인 통계기법이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 단순 통계 기법만으로는 알려지지 않는 데이터들 사이에 숨겨진 유용한 정보를 찾는 데에는 한계가 있다. 최근에는 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위해 데이터 마이닝 기술을 이용한 새로운 접근 방법이 시도되고 있다. 그러나 실제로 웹 로그에서부터 데이터 마이닝 기술을 이용하는 데에는 전처리 과정의 어려움과 실제 유용한 패턴을 어떻게 정의하는 가가 어려운 문제이다. 본 연구에서는 로(raw) 데이터인 웹 로그에서 유용한 패턴을 찾기 위한 전처리 과정을 알아보고, 웹 마이닝 시스템에 적합한 트랜잭션의 데이터 구조를 제시한다. 그리고 정의된 데이터 구조를 통한 패턴 발견 과정인 웹 사이트의 개념계층을 이용한 통계 기법과 연관규칙(Association Rules) 탐사에 대해 알아본다. 마지막으로 정의된 데이터 구조를 통한 새로운 유용한 패턴을 정의한ㄷ.

정보 공유와 비즈니스 수행 등의 매체로서 World Wide Web의 이용이 보편화됨에 따라 다양하고 방대한 데이터를 웹을 통하여 얻을 수 있게 되었으며, 이러한 데이터로부터 유용한 정보를 추출하기 위한 데이터 분석과 활용은 많은 분야에서 중요한 사안으로 인식되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 웹 로그(web log)데이터로부터 정보를 추출하기 위한 과정 및 방안에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 로그 데이터의 특징과 통계 데이터와의 차이점, 데이터 수집 및 사전 처리 과정, 추출할 수 있는 정보 및 분석 방법 등을 제시하고 로그 데이터 분석 예제를 제시한다.

Statistical analysis is a process which produces information based on data gathering and summary for final decision. In various application fields, we obtain information which supports final decision using statistical analysis. But statistical software program in PC (personal computer) is restricted by time and space. So web based system which can be used in web browser has been developed to minimize these restrictions. To overcome these restrictions, we have developed web based system for statistical analysis without a particular software.

인터넷이 데이터 저장 및 서비스를 위한 도구로 폭넓게 활용되고 있으며, 이 과정에서 웹 서버 방문객에 대한 정보인 로그가 발생된다. 이러한 로그는 방문객 주소, 참조 페이지, 방문 시각 등의 정보를 포함하고 있다. 웹 로그에 대하여 패턴분석(pattern analysis), 군집분석(clustering), 판별분석(classification) 등의 통계적 분석을 통하여 방문객이 관심을 가지는 항목이나 항목간의 연관관계 등 새로운 정보를 생성하여 웹 디자인 또는 비즈니스에의 적용에 대한 연구가 활발히 논의되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 웹 로그 분석에 대하여 소개하고 웹 로그 분석을 위한 방안을 제시하고자 한다.
