Effects of Instructional Material Using ICT at High School Earth Science (고등학교 지구과학 수업에서 ICT 활용 수업자료의 효과)

  • This study investigated the effects of the application of a variety of ICTs cause the effects on self-directed learning capability, creativity and problem-solving ability. In order to achieve the above aim, Web-Based Instructions(WBI) and instructions using CD-ROM Titles for the unit of 'the solar system and the galaxy' were applicated and analyzed which belongs to the area of 'the earth' in the subject 'science' for high school students. Instructions using WBI materials and CD-ROM titles were found to be effective on 'self-conception', 'creativity', 'future inclination', 'self-assessment ability', 'openness' and' initiative' improvement all of which belong to self-directed learning characteristics. They did not, however, show meaningful effect on improving 'learning eagemess' and 'responsibility' improvement. On looking into self-directed learning characteristics according to prerequisite learning levels, both groups and these for instruction using CD-ROM learning materials were found to have no effect on interaction. With respect to problem-solving ability improvement which is characteristic of the instruction using ICTs, WBI proved more fruitful than instruction using CD-ROM titles on improving scholastic achievement level. WBI was effective on 'fluency', 'originality' and 'resistance to premature closure'. It on the other hand, was of no use on 'abstraction of titles' and 'elaborateness' These results came from the following characteristics: WBI came into effect on 'fluency' and 'originality' in the areas of variety and vitality, which are characteristic of WBI. In the area of resistance to premature closure WBI was effective on organizing learning contents owing to the animation of picture materials which are variously presented in the web site. As a result of WBI questionnaire about WBI, an excellent effect on the structure of display, quantity of information, indication and instruction, supplementary study and further study were discussed.

The Development of Level-Differentiated WBI Program on Weather and Climate Unit and the Analysis of Its Effects in Earth Science Class (일기와 기후 단원의 웹 기반 수준별 학습자료 개발 및 효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the level-defferentiated Web Based Instruction(WBI) program, to examine its effects on the science achievement self-directed learning characteristics, and the students’ perceptions on the WBI learning. For this purpose, the advanced and complementary WBI program of level-differentiated curriculum was developed to adapt to class fields and examine instruction facilitating efficiency. Designed and developed the WBI program make it possible to teach students according to the level-differentiated learning for the chapter, ‘weather and climate’ in high school science curriculum. The results of this study are as follows: First, level-differentiated WBI was effective to encourage self-concept, learning eagerness, future-oriented self-apprehension, creativity, self-assessment of the student’s self-directed teaming characteristics. There was no interaction effect of treatment and students’ learning ability at the self-directed learning characteristics. Second, the scores of science achievement of WBI group were significantly higher than those of conventional lecture group. There was interaction effect of treatment and students’ learning ability. However level-differentiated WBI has no effect on openness, initiative, responsibility of the student’s self-directed learning characteristics. There was interaction effect of treatment and students’ learning ability at the science achievement, Third, in the perception questionnaire of WBI teaming, many students showed the WBI teaming was good in terms of causing interaction between learners and web based learning materials including various images and animations. However there are several students who showed learning difficulties. For example they wonder which part is more important and what order is proper to study in hypertext environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the web based instruction(WBI) program, to examine its effects on the science achievement, the attitude toward science, and students' perceptions on the WBI learning. The WBI program on the content of oceanography unit in Earth Science for high schools was developed using Namo 4.0, JAVA-script, Flash 4, Video Capture of SnagIt, Animation Shop graphic tools. The treatment group consisted of students who participated in the WBI program developed in this study, and the control group consisted of students who participated in the module instruction using self-learning materials. The results from this study were as follows: First, the scores of science achievement of WBI group were significantly higher than those of module group. There was not interaction effect of treatment and students' learning ability. Second, there were no significant difference in the scores of the attitude towards science learning between WBI group and module group, and there was not interaction effect of treatment and students' learning ability. Third, in the perception questionnaire of WBI learning, many students showed the WBI learning were good in terms of causing interaction between learners and web based learning materials including various images and animations. A Development and Application of Science Learning Material Including SF Movies (SF 영화를 활용한 과학학습자료 개발 및 적용)

  • The purpose of study is to develop the web-contents for web based instruction (WBI) with the Science Fiction Movie (SF) and investigate the effects of application to the science learning. The results are as follows. 1) Science fiction movies for the earth science classes of middle school were selected, that is the Armageddon, the Apollo13 and the Total Recall. They are related to the chapters, the Earth and the Stars in the 8th grade science textbook. 2) The developed WBI materials were applied to the science classes of the 2nd grade in middle school through the Internet Line. and then the changes of attitude on science and recognition on using the science fiction movies to the class were analyzed. The results show that the science fiction movies have so much related to the contents of science learning and the developed WBI materials are effective to the science classes(p<0.05), but no meaningful (p>0.05) to the attitude on the science excluding the students' interest to science learning.

  • 인터넷을 이용한 웹 기반 교육환경(WBI)의 가장 큰 문제점은 학습평가 보안과 전자수업안의 작성 및 제작에 어려움 그리고 웹 기반 교육환경의 평가 기준을 정하는 것이다. 이 연구에서는 이러한 문제점들을 데이터 에어하우스(DW)를 이용한 DBS 시스템을 제안하여 해결하고자 했으며 제안된 DataBase Study(DBS) 시스템의 특징을 살펴보고자 한다. DBS 시스템은 교수화면과 수강자화면으로 구성되며 WBI상에 있는 데이터를 가공하여 DW를 작성하고 이것을 다시 데이터 마이닝하여 DBS시스템의 장점은 기존의 자료를 가공하여 좀더 유용한 자료를 제공받으며 기존의 자료를 이용하여 전자수업안의 제작을 좀 더 쉽게 할 수 있고 교사의 일방적인 수업진행이 아닌 등록된 정보를 활용한 학생들의 참여를 유도할 수 있다는 것이다.

  • Recently, as more web-based applications are widely used, various methods for education are developed in practical areas. As a result, in many organizations, virtual educations such as WBI learning. CAI, and distance learning are offered actively. With the advantages of web-based education, in order to achieve feasible and efficient effects on education. a new web-based instruction model that considers the abilities, the interests, and the aptitudes of students individually is required. In this paper, a new web-based instruction model, called a hybrid model, is proposed and implemented. And then, two model - the stepwise model and the hybrid model- are applied to a computer accounting class of a vocational high school. Students attend the web-based class in a computer center for 100 minutes autonomously. After the classes, a questionnaire is made in order to analyze both the effect on that class and the learning fulfillment of the proposed instruction model.

  • 웹 기반 교육(WBI)이 많은 장점을 가지고 있으나 한편으로는 웹 기반 수업 혹은 웹 기반 교육의 초기에는 교수자의 개인적인 수준에서 교육 시스템이 개발 운영되어 체계적으로 개발 관리되지 못하였고 교수-학습자의 요구사항을 충분히 반영하지 못하였다. 그리고 분산되어 있는 자료의 적절한 활용과 검색이 용이하지 못하여 중복 개발되고 신뢰성이 떨어지는 문제점등을 내포한다. 이 논문에서는 WBSE(Web Based Software Engineering)개념을 웹 기반 교육시스템에 도입하여 요구사항을 반영하고 기존에 개발되어 사용되고 있는 소프트웨어를 컴포넌트화 하는 작업을 시도하여 이를 재사용 통합함으로써 새로운 교육 소프트웨어 개발에 사용되는 일련의 과정에 대하여 연구 기술하였다.

  • 오늘날 인터넷 활용이 본격적으로 대중화되면서 교육현장에서도 웹을 기반으로 한 다양한 교육방법이 연구, 개발되어 WBI 학습, 웹 기반 CAI, 원격강의 등의 가상교육으로 발전되어 왔다. 웹 기반 교육이 교실수업에 비해 가지는 장점을 최대한 살려서 현실성 있고 효율적인 교육의 효과를 얻으려면 학습자의 능력과 관심 , 흥미 , 적성 등을 고려한 웹 기반 수업 모형 개발이 요구된다. 본 논문은 제7차 교육과정에서 실시되는 단계형 수준별 교육과정에 심화보충형을 혼합한 수준별 수업모형을 웹 기반 수업모형으로 제시하고자 한다. 웹을 기반으로 한 혼합형 수준별 수업이 가능해짐으로써 교수자는 웹 데이터베이스를 통해 학습의 촉매자, 조언자로서의 역할을 할 수 있으며, 학습자는 학업 성취수준에 알맞은 학습 구성이 가능해짐으로써 보다 효과적인 자기주도적인 학습이 이루어질 것으로 기대된다

  • In spite of the strong request that Internet, a new IT technique, should be extensively used in classroom settings, WBI is not still wide spread. One possible reason is that most WBIs developed so far are not qualitatively different from the traditional classroom ones and various design models for WBI are unknown. Developing a WBI program according to Goal-based Scenarios (GBS), a constructivistic instructional design model, this study offers a useful case for the design and development of WBI to educators and implementers. The program developed embodied seven important components of the GBS model. The development process also included needs assessment, task analysis, and learner and environment analysis, which are the basic components of the domain of instructional design. The GBS development case in this article will provide concrete guidelines to educational practitioners who have an intention to create a new type of WBI in schools as well as in corporate.

  • 교육정보화의 실현이라는 과제가 현재의 학교현장에 필요한 만큼 제7차 교육과정의 시작과 더불어 학습자의 지식과 능력을 육성하기 위한 미리 계획된 WBI(Web based Instruction)를 기반으로 한 교수 모형의 필요성이 강조된다. 본 연구는 WBI의 교육적 기능을 충분히 반영하여 교실에서 교사가 사용하기 쉽고 효율적인 학습자료를 구현하여 웹 환경이 조성된 교실에서 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 이러한 구현을 위한 프로그램으로는 웹 환경에서 실행하는데 무리가 없고 소용량으로 에니메이션 효과를 극대화 할 수 있는 Flash MX를 사용하였고, 고등학교 ‘수학10-나’의 내용 중 교과서와 칠판만을 사용하여 수업하는 데는 한계가 있는 과정인 ‘도형의 이동과 부등식의 영역’을 주로 개발하였다. 학습자들은 학교에서 수업한 내용을 웹 환경을 이용하여 개별학습 및 반복학습을 할 수 있고, 교사들은 교실이나 멀티미디어실에서 웹을 통하여 본 연구에서 구현한 프로그램을 사용함으로 학교 수업의 효율성을 높이고자 한다.
