U-Learning Scheme : A New Web-based Educational Technology (U-Learning 스킴 : 새로운 웹 기반 교육 기술)

  • This paper presents a model of ubiquitous learning environment system based on the concepts of ubiquitous computing technology that enables learning to take place anywhere at anytime. This ubiquitous learning environment is described as an environment-friendly learning scheme that supports students' learning using digital media in geographically distributed environments. The u-learning model is a web-based e-learning system that could enable learners to acquire knowledge and skills through interaction between them and the ubiquitous learning environment. Education is happening all around the student but the student may not even be conscious of the learning process. Source data is present in the embedded objects and students do not have to do anything in order to learn. The communication between devices and the embedded computers in the environment allows learners to learn in an environment of their interest while they are moving, hence, attaching them to their learning environment.

  • 본 논문에서는 C언어를 이용한 자료구조를 자기 주도적으로 학습할 수 있는 원격 교육 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다. 각 단원별로 이론 강의 및 실습 강의, 형성평가로 이루어져 있으며, 실습 강의에서는 코딩 영역에 직접 코딩한 소스를 온라인 상에서 컴파일 및 실행이 가능하도록 구현하였다. 특히 한 화면에서 따라가기 형태로 화면의 이동을 하지 않고 실습하는 것이 가능하고 코드의 실행 결과 보기를 할 수 있으므로, 자료구조 학습 내용을 학습자 스스로 충분히 숙지하고 실습할 수 있는 웹 기반 실습 환경을 제공한다. 이론과 실습을 겸함으로써 학습자는 이해하기 어려운 자료구조의 이해도를 높일 수 있고, 학습자가 주도적으로 실습에 참여하도록 유도함으로써 학습의 흥미를 높일 수 있게 하였다.

  • Currently, we are presenting an alternative educational environment for the normal student of education rules failure of the only that has been the school system student. The study for students with disabilities, it is designed especially to be able to use difficult disabilities the use of hand. Development objectives of the learning video e-learning system of persons with disabilities, is that to be able to capable of self-directed learning of disabled students. Configuration of e-running system, Web-based multimedia system, utilizing the system that will change the video conferencing system and voice to a character hearing impaired students through the chat system is 1:1 by communication, and teachers it is possible to perform two-way communication. A learning disability e-learning system developed in this paper between teachers and students with disabilities 1:1 training is conducted using a two-way communication algorithms.

  • Interest in Chinese edutainment contents product has been increasing with the importance of Chinese Education Recently, empirical education with some fun activities is in the limelight breaking the traditional passive learning. Due to a such social necessity, we develop web-based Chinese Edutainment Contents for children, utilizing multimedia functions. Especially since writing Education is very important in learning chinese characters, we also developed a writing recognition function which checks the order of making strokes in writing Chinese character. Different from the existing outline area-based writing system, it determines if the character is well-written comparing to the prestored reference points in each Chinese characters, after recognizing the order of strokes and extracting peculiar points.

  • Internet becomes absolutely necessary tools due to rapid progress of information technology. Educational correspondence abount an age of information demand is a education focused on a learner and remote education based on information technology. WBI(Web Based Instruction) is a formation that remotly educate a learner using web, possible mutual reaction between instructor and learner, submint various studying material, has a good point to overcome spatial restriction. Internal and external standardization working is accelerated and recently XML security studies are activated using XML which is next generation web standard document format. And XML electronic signature raise interworking between digital signature systems used by various field of using XML document. Using these merit and complementing defect are main contents that users have to pay about Certification service to get CA certificate from 2004 june. This paper propose multiplex Certification remote education agent system using XML digital signature to satisfy security requirement.

  • Recently, learning how to learn is a matter of concern among many pedagogists and become the important subject matter of school education. That's why there are many learners who fail to get good results compared with their potential abilities and efforts, as well as the necessity to educate independent and self-determined learner by teaching learning strategies that can help leaners to get new information and skills by themselves in an information-oriented society was emphasized. Therefore, this study is to utilize the learning strategy in order to improve the learners study skills, and grope for the method of self-directed learning about the social studies centered on the learners. And, it is to utilize the reciprocal teaching with the learning strategy for improving the learners study skills. Also, it is to make the learners induced to participate in the teaching for social studies actively, grafting the characteristics of web on the reciprocal teaching. According to this intent, this study was developed as three steps. As for the first step, it investigated the reciprocal teaching, a teaching-learning theory to apply to the program, and the theoretical background about web utility in the social studies. On the second step, it embodied the reciprocal teaching-learning system about the we-based social studies that will be available in the self-directed learning centered on the learners. Lastly, it analysed the change of recognition about the learners social study skills and the learning the social studies after applying the materialized website to the actual lesson.

  • 최근 사용자의 멀티미디어에 대한 요구의 증가가 VOD (Video-on-Demand) 서비스를 발전시키게 되었다. VOD는 엔터테인먼트나 원격 교육, 광고 및 정보 등 많은 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 이러한 VOD 서비스는 많은 디스크 I/O와 네트워크 I/O를 요구하며 기존 웹 서버 시스템과 비교했을 때 오랜 시간동안 서비스를 해야 하는 특징을 가지고 있다. 또한 VOD 서비스는 많은 네트워크와 디스크의 대역폭을 요구하며, 서비스의 QoS에 민감해서 사용자 응답시간이 길어지면 사용자 요청의 취소율이 높아지게 된다. 따라서 불만족스러운 서비스의 증가로 네트워크 부하만 증가하게 된다. 이러한 기존 웹 서버 환경과는 다른 부하의 패턴이 있는 VOD 서비스 환경에서는 부하를 균형적으로 분배하여 서비스의 QoS를 높이는 것이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 분산 VOD 시스템 환경에서 부하를 효율적으로 분산하기 위해 계층형 분산 VOD 시스템 모델과 사용자 요청 패턴의 히스토리와 유전 알고리즘을 기반으로 한 스케줄러를 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 계층형 분산 VOD 시스템 모델은 서버들을 지역적으로 분산하고 제어 서버를 지역마다 설치하여 지역에 있는 VOD 서버들을 관리하도록 구성한다. 사용자 요청을 지역 서버군 내에서 분산시키기 위해서 히스토리를 기반으로 한 유전 알고리즘을 사용한다. 이러한 히스토리 정보를 기반으로 유전 알고리즘의 적합도 함수에 적용하여 VOD 시스템을 위한 유전 알고리즘과 유전 연산을 구현한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 부하 분산 알고리즘은 VOD 서비스 환경에서 사용자 요구에 대한 부하를 보다 정확하게 예측하여 부하를 분산할 수 있다. 본 논문에서 제안한 계층형 분산 VOD 시스템의 부하 분산 알고리즘의 성능을 테스트하기 위해 OPNET 기반 시뮬레이터를 구현한다. 라운드로빈(round-robin) 방식과 랜덤(random) 방식과의 비교 실험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안한 부하 분산 알고리즘의 성능을 평가한다. 비교 실험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안한 알고리즘이 보다 안정적인 QoS를 제공하는 것을 보여준다.

A Rating Range-based Prediction Method for Collaborative Filtering Systems (협력필터링 시스템을 위한 평가 등급 범위 기반의 예측방법)

  • Recommender systems, which predict and recommend items that may possibly draw users' interests, have been applied in various fields as e-commerce systems are widespread. Collaborative filtering, one of the major methodologies of recommender systems, recommends either items similar to those preferred by the user, or items preferred by the other similar user. Therefore, two problems determine its performance; one is correct estimation of similarity and the other is predicting the real rating of the recommended item. This study addresses the latter problem. Previous studies predict the real rating based on the mean of the ratings, but this study proposes a prediction based on the range of the ratings and investigates its performance through experiments. As a result, it is demonstrated that the proposed method improves the mean absolute error significantly, compared to the previous method.

  • The smart devices are used more and more, these days. It make the teaching method using smart devices possible and it is considered as important method in the modern society. Though this kind of approach is prospering in foreign countries, it is not so in the domestic education system. Therefore, this paper proposes the mobile web system supporting the active interaction between the teacher and the students for the domestic education. This system can be used everywhere smart device is connected to the internet. The teacher set a question and the students answers against it through the system in real time. All questions and answers are written into the system and it can be checked again visually. It makes teachers and students trace and evaluate their interaction. And the teacher can download those result in microsoft Excel file format. We did a survey on this system to students and got positive response.

  • We expect u-Education based on ubiquitous information and technology will be the next generation education system. We performed a comparative study of well designed school homepage at H elementary school and the other case of homepage at C elementary school in Seoul. We conclude the former shows better performance and educational achievement under U-Learning environment and we propose a next generation U-Learning system architecture.
