Evaluation indices of the panelizing optimization for Architectural freeform surfaces are proposed for quantitative evaluation through the case studies on panelizing optimization and evaluation index for Architectural freeform surfaces. Proposed evaluation items are adherence to original design intent, production ease, and continuity. The evaluation index for adherence to original design intent is surfaces fitness, the evaluation indices for production ease are planarity, planar panel ratio, and the evaluation indices for continuity are tangent continuity, and divergence. Algorithms are also suggested to compute the proposed evaluation indices.

The experimental study for turning circular free fanned surface with TiN coated insert tool was conducted for different cutting conditions such as cutting speed, feed rate and depth-of-cut. For the fluctuation of 1.0mm depth-of-cut, the characteristics for machined surface and tool wear were less influenced by the feed rate and cutting speed than those of higher depth of cut. The higher surface roughness and surface precision were obtained in lower cutting speed. For the fluctuation of 1.5mm depth-of-cut, the higher surface roughness was obtained for the case of the lower feed rate of 0.05-10mm/rev and the higher cutting speed of 80m/min. For the fluctuation of 2.0mm depth-of-cut, the surface roughness and surface precision were too worse to machine the specimen And the flank wear on the tool was increased rapidly rather than the crater wear.

Various geometric modeling techniques for a hull have been developed with wide application of computer to the ship design. Up to now, they are used for the representation of the sculptured surface with the piecewise polynominal curves or surfaces for a conventional hull. In this paper, a convenient and accurate modeling technique that is instancing and blending of the geometry primitives is introduced for a non-conventional hull such as SWATH, trimaran, caisson etc. Geometric characteristics, hydrostatic particulars and stability of the definded hull are calculated.
This paper aims at presenting high quality at low resolution apply by a new antialiasing method for voxelized implicit surfaces. Implicit surfaces create a unique type of 3D-modeling. Some use of implicit surfaces are scientific and medical visualization, animation, medical simulation and interactive modeling. One of previous antialiasing methods for implicit surfaces presented by raytracing or texture mapping is making use of a stochastic sampling. But this method requires more calculation time and costs which is caused by complicated and difficult implicit functions. In the meanwhile, voxelized implicit surfaces generally use high resolution for good quality images but it costs to generate. In order to this problem, this paper suggests a shifted double Z-buffer which is very simple, more efficient and easy. Tn addition, there are applied box-filter and tent-filter to the double Z-buffer antialiasing method for better images. For results this method generate high quality image and it is easy to apply to various filters and is able to extend to multi Z-buffer.

Prediction of ship's signature of RCS(Radar Cross Section) and TES(Target Echo Strength) is mostly required in the initial design stage of naval craft, because RCS is directly related to the radar detection while TES to the sonar detection. In this research, a numerical scheme using a curved-patch physical optics method is proposed to evaluate signature of a perfectly reflecting curved object. The scheme is validated by comparing numerical RCS values of circular cylinder, sphere and NACA3317 airfoil with available data. It is also further applied to predict RCS of a surfaced submarine and TES of fully submerged one. Major reflectors of the surfaced or submerged submarine for the various incident angles of radar and sonar waves are investigated as well.

A shaped Cassegrain antenna is designed from the condition of the same path length at the equi-phase surface by using the conservation of energy and Snell's law. In order to improve the phase error efficiency of aperture surface, the surface profile of the main and sub-reflectors is found to satisfy the power distribution and the equi-phase condition at the aperture surface. The sidelobe levels of 36.4 dB and 33.9 dB are achieved at the AZ and EL planes, respectively from numerical calculation by physical optics method at Ku band and the directivity of designed antenna is 10 percent greater than that of conventional antenna.
This research proposes a pattern making method for women's bodice by the characters of body types and develops bodice dress forms on their body shapes applying 3D body scan data. 515 women's body scan data was collected and analyzed factor and cluster analysis. Three body types were characterized in normal, obese, and slim group. In each group, 10 subjects were selected. 20 parts in 3D anthropometric data were measured using Autocad program. The amount of waist dart was calculated and three types of basic bodice pattern were developed using the calculated darts data. The amount and the position of front dart and side dart were different at obese group in comparison of normal and thin group. The three types of basic bodice model were made by the basic bodice pattern, and each model was scanned by 3D scanner to make 3D bodice dress forms. Three types of bodice dress forms were rendered using 3D max program. Bodice dress forms had the dart lines and were useful to draft patterns to fit their body shape.

As fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) material is appled for a curved structure such as tunnel, FRP material must has a curved shape. Until now, the curved FRP material has been producted by hand-lay-up or filament winding work. It is impossible for mass production of the curved FRP material by these methods. Also, the quality of product by these methods is lower than that by pultrusion method. New pultrusion method and equipment had been developed for production of FRP material with steady curvature. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of freezing and thawing on adhesion of cement concrete with coarse-sand coated FRP in repair and reinforcement of cement-concrete structure using curved FRP material.
The purpose of this paper is an optimum design of the shaped Cassegrainian antenna system for the base station. The process of the shaped Cassegrainian antenna design is as follows : 1) the aperture field distribution is determined so as to meet design specifications, 2) a proper design parameter is selected, 3) extracting of the dimension data for the main and sub-reflector antenna To do these, Hansen's distribution is chosen as the aperture field, and the far-field pattern from the aperture is predicted by the angular spectrum. Firstly, the aperture field distribution is designed to satisfy the specification for design frequency, it is confirmed if this distribution meet the specification for another frequency band. The main- and the sub-reflectors are synthesized so as for the given beamwaveguide feed pattern to be transformed into the prescribed aperture distribution. The designed system has circular aperture, left-right symmetry and no tilted structure. The continuous surface functions of reflectors are obtained by adopting the global interpolation technique to the discrete reflector profiles. Jacobi polynomial-sinusoidal is used as the basis function. A Ka-band Cassegrainian antenna operates over 17.7 – 20.2 GHz for down-link band and 27.5 – 30 GHz for up-link band is designed.

Low-order panel methods are being used to design marine propellers. Since the potential value over each panel for these methods is assumed to be a constant, the accuracy of prediction is known to be limited. Therefore, a higher order boundary element method(HOBEM) has been studied to enhance the accuracy of prediction. In this paper, a HOBEM representing the body boundary surfaces and physical quantities by a 9-node Lagrangian shape function is employed to analyse the flow around marine propellers in steady potential flow. First, the numerical results for a circular wing with thickness variations are compared with Jordan's linear solution. Then, the computational results of two propellers(DTRC 4119 & DTRC 4842 propeller) are compared with the experimental and numerical results published. The pressure distribution on the surface of the propeller is also compared with experimental data.
