Simulated RF Signal Generator for Receiver Performance Verification (신호수신시스템 성능 검증을 위한 신호원 모의발생기)

  • A signal receiving system can measure and analyze frequency, pulse modulation, scan modulation, frequency modulation on pulse, phase modulation on pulse of RF signal. A signal receiving system should be verified under simulated RF signal environment prior to verification on operation in fields. This paper describes an effective method to generate simulated RF signals with considering operational scenario. The simulated RF signal generator can be effectively used to evaluate the performance of the signal receiver and reduce the test cost of the signal receiver.

Clinical Study of Simultaneous Acquisition Rest 99mTc-sestaMIBI/Stress 201Tl Dual-Isotope Myocardial Perfusion Imaging with a Solid-State Dedicated Cardiac Gamma Camera (반도체 심근 전용 감마카메라를 이용한 Rest 99mTc-sestaMIBI/Stress201Tl 이중 동위원소 심근 관류 동시 스캔에 관한 임상적 고찰)

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the simultaneous dual isotope (SDI) myocardial perfusion scan that can be performed in a short time using a semiconductor gamma camera. Materials and Methods Of the 86 patients who underwent Rest/Stress $^{99m}TC$-sestaMIBI 1-day myocardial perfusion scan and Rest $^{99m}TC$-sestaMIBI/Stress $^{201}Tl$ simultaneous dual isotope myocardial perfusion scan using a heart-only gamma camera, the test results were the same, 36 patients who did not show any change in the clinical outcome. Quantitative values were statistically analyzed using a QPS program to confirm the correlation between the images of the two examinations. Results Rest/Stress $^{99m}TC$-sestaMIBI simultaneous dual myocardial perfusion scans and $^{99m}TC$-sestaMIBI/Stress $^{201}Tl$ double-isotope myocardial perfusion scans were analyzed for Summed score. The $R^2$ value of the Rest summed score (RSS) was 0.91 and the $R^2$ value of the stress summed score (SSS) was 0.71. Conclusion The $^{99m}TC$-sestaMIBI/Stress $^{201}Tl$ simultaneous dual isotope scan confirmed its correlation with the previous day's test. The $^{99m}TC$-sestaMIBI/Stress $^{201}Tl$ simultaneous dual isotope scan can be completed in approximately 30minutes. It maybe clinically useful for patients who need short examination time such as emergency patients or elderly patients.

  • The purpose of this study was to estimate radiation doses from 64-slice single source Computed Tomography(SSCT) coronary angiography(CA) and 128-slice dual source Computed Tomography(DSCT). With SSCT CA, the effective dose averaged approximately 13.86 mSv when two dose modulation was not. The mean effective dose for DSCT CA with retrospectively gated helical(RGH) technique was 11.87 mSv, when prospective ECG gating transverse(PGT) without dose modulation technique was 5.61 mSv. The one with dose modulation in PGT technique and flash mode were 3.04 mSv and flash mode was 0.98 mSv respectively. The lifetime attributable risk(LAR) of cancer incidence from SSCT RGH mode averaged approximately 1 for 1,176, and DSCT averaged 1 for 1,960(RGH mode), 1 for 3,030(PGT without modulation), 1 for 5,882(PGT with modulation). Because of CTCA is associated with non-negligible risk of cancer. Doses can be reduced by application PGT, FLASH than RGH using DSCT.

The Diagnostic Value of Clinical and Radiologic Findings in Children after the First Episode of Acute Pyelonephritis (소아에서의 첫 번째 급성 신우신염에 따른 임상 소견 및 방사선학적 검사의 진단적 유용성)

  • Purpose : Acute pyelonephritis is one of the most common causes of unexplained fever in children. It may lead to the development of progressive renal damage. However, the deteclion of acute pyelonephritis can be difficult, especially in infants. The objective of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of various lab tests and imaging studies for acute renal parenchymal changes in children with APN. We correlated the clinical and laboratory manifestations of acute pyelonephritis with the Imaging studies. Methods : We reviewed the records of 115 children (85 males and 30 females) who were hospitalized Outing the period of January 1998 to December 2002 with initial clinical symptoms suggestive of pyelonephritis. The patients' age, sex, duration of fever, laboratory findings, and causative organisms were compared with the findings of imaging studies (Technetium-99m dimercaptosuccinic acid renal scan, renal ultrasonography, intravenous pyelography, voiding cystourethrography). Results : No significant relation between the number of febrile days, leukocyte count, causative organism, and the renal abnormalities in the imaging studies were observed. On the other hand, both C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate levels were significantly elevated in children with positive dimercaptosuccinic acid renal scan. Furthermore, females and children older than 1 year presented with significantly higher rate of abnormal dimercaptosuccinic acid renal scan findings and vesicoureteral reflux presented by voiding cystourethrography. Conclusion : We recommend females and children older than 1 year who are suspected of acute pyelonephritis be evaluated carefully for renal involvement by performing imaging studies including dimercaptosuccinic acid renal scan and voiding cystourethrography. Development of Bodice Dress Forms by Body Types for Women in Thirties Applying 3D Body Scan Data (3D 인체 스캔 데이터를 활용한 체형별 인대모형 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This research proposes a pattern making method for women's bodice by the characters of body types and develops bodice dress forms on their body shapes applying 3D body scan data. 515 women's body scan data was collected and analyzed factor and cluster analysis. Three body types were characterized in normal, obese, and slim group. In each group, 10 subjects were selected. 20 parts in 3D anthropometric data were measured using Autocad program. The amount of waist dart was calculated and three types of basic bodice pattern were developed using the calculated darts data. The amount and the position of front dart and side dart were different at obese group in comparison of normal and thin group. The three types of basic bodice model were made by the basic bodice pattern, and each model was scanned by 3D scanner to make 3D bodice dress forms. Three types of bodice dress forms were rendered using 3D max program. Bodice dress forms had the dart lines and were useful to draft patterns to fit their body shape.

Radiation Induced Rib Fractures on Bone Scan after Breast Cancer Surgery and Radiation Therapy (유방암 절제술 후 방사선치료를 시행한 환자의 골스캔에서 보이는 방사전 유발 늑골골절)

  • Purpose: This study is to evaluate rib fractures on bone scan in breast cancer patients treated with breast cancer surgery and radiation therapy and to evaluate its relation with radiation therapy and operation modality. Materials and Methods: Two hundred seventy cases that underwent serial bone scan after breast cancer surgery and radiation therapy were enrolled. Bone scan and chest a findings of rib fracture were analyzed. Results: The rib uptake was seen in 74 of 270 cases (27.4%) on bone scan and 50 cases (18.5%) were confirmed to have rib fracture by chest CT. The rate of modified radical mastectomy in patients with rib fracture was significantly higher than that in patients without rib fracture (66.0% vs. 27.0%, p = 0.000). The rate of additional radiation therapy to axillar or supraclavicular regions in patients with rib fracture was significantly higher than that in patients without rib fracture (62.0% vs. 28.6%, p =0.000). Rib fracture was seen most frequently at 1-2 years after radiation therapy (51.9%) and single rib fracture was seen most frequently (55.2%). Of total 106 rib fractures, focal rib uptake was seen in 94 ribs (88.7%) and diffuse rib uptake was seen in 12 ribs (11.3%). On one year follow-up bone scan, complete resolution of rib uptake was seen in 15 ribs (14.2%). On chest a, the rate of fracture line in ribs with intense uptake was significantly higher than that in ribs with mild or moderate uptake (p = 0.000). The rate of presence of fracture line in ribs with focal uptake was significantly higher than that in ribs with diffuse uptake (p = 0.001). Conclusion: Rib fracture in breast cancer patients after radiation therapy was related to radiation portal and operation modality. It should be interpreted carefully as a differential diagnosis of bone metastasis.

Significance of Bone Scan in Chest Trauma (흉부외상에서 골스캔의 의의)

  • Clinical analysis of the relation between the clinical data of chest trauma patients and bone scan results was done to investigate the sensitivity and specificity of bone scan for the diagnosis of rib or chondral fracture. Material and Method: 445 patients treated due to chest trauma in Dongguk University Kyungju Hospital from July 1998 to December 2001 were studied. Age and sex distribution, causes of chest trauma, interval from the injury to arrival at hospital, final diagnosis, relationship between the chest pain and bone scan results, relationship between local tenderness and bone scan results, and sensitivity and specificity of bone scan were studied. Result: The male was 61.6% and the female was 38.4%. Age distribution was nearly even from the twenties to the sixties. The traffic accident was the most common cause of chest injury(60.4%). Most patients(76.6%) were arrived to the hospital within 6 hours after chest trauma. Rib fracture was the most common final diagnosis(46.5 %). The relationship between the duration of chest pain and tenderness and the bone scan results were significant, and the same in the relationship between the duration of local tenderness and the bone scan results, but the latter is more significant. The sensitivity of bone scan was 99.4% and the specificity was 90.4%. Conclusion: If the patient complains the chest pain continuously and the local tenderness around the chest is continued over 3 weeks, it is good to perform the bone scan. Further study including the MRI may be helpful for more evaluation in chest trauma patients.

  • MRI 나 CT 스캔에 의해 생성된 볼륨 데이터는 일반적으로 설러 샘플 지점에서의 이산적인 수치 데이터 일뿐 데이터 상호간의 함수적 연속성은 제공되지 않고 있다. 이러한 데이터로부터 우리가 원하는 임계값(threshold)에 의한 등가면(isosurface)을 렌더링하는 방법은 보통 Marching Cube에서처럼 많은 다각형을 생성해서 렌더링 하는 방법에 의존해 왔다. 그러나 원하는 등가면을 직접 표현할 수 있는 함수가 존재할 경우 많은 양의 다각형을 추출하고 보관해야 하는 시공간적 부담이 없게 된다. 본 논문에서는 각 Cube별로 정의되는 Tri-linear Interpolation 함수를 기반으로 하여 Interval Method 에 의한 등가면 렌더링 알고리즘을 제안한다.

Implementation of a Prefetch method for Secondary Index Scan in MySQL InnoDB Engine (MySQL InnoDB엔진의 Secondary Index Scan을 위한 Prefetch 기능 구현)

  • Flash SSDs have many advantages over the existing hard disks such as energy efficiency, shock resistance, and high I/O throughput. For these reasons, in combination with the emergence of innovative technologies such as 3D-NAND and V-NAND for cheaper cost-per-byte, flash SSDs have been rapidly replacing hard disks in many areas. However, the existing database engines, which have been developed mainly assuming hard disks as the storage, could not fully exploit the characteristics of flash SSDs (e.g. internal parallelism). In this paper, in order to utilize the internal parallelism intrinsic to modern flash SSDs for faster query processing, we implemented a prefetching method using asynchronous input/output as a new functionality for secondary index scans in MySQL InnoDB engine. Compared to the original InnoDB engine, the proposed prefetching-based scan scheme shows three-fold higher performance in the case of 16KB-page sizes, and about 4.2-fold higher performance in the case of 4KB-page sizes.
