Drivers' Rational Belief Formation under Bounded Traffic Environments (한정된 교통환경하에서 운전자의 합리적 신념형성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes drivers' rational belief formation under a bounded traffic environment. This is to escape the criticism that excessive rationality (e.g., a driver's calculating ability and memory capacity) is required of drivers. Under bounded traffic environments. drivers do not have structural knowledge of traffic conditions and others' decisions. Simulations are carried out using a program coded in C. Consequently, the author found the learning process of drivers and the value of information can be differentiated by route conditions and the characteristics of driver groups. Also, it was found that rational drivers form different beliefs about traffic conditions even though they have the same traffic environment in a bounded traffic environment.

The Relationship between Subjective Driving Workload and Effects of PG Technology (주관적 운전부하 수준과 PG기법 적용효과의 관계)

  • The main objective of this study is two-fold: 1) to analyze the effect of PG technology application on road user's satisfaction and driving speed, and 2) to investigate the relationship between driver's subjective workload level and their reactions related to the PG technology application. Based on the result of field observation, the experimental scenario for driving simulation study was prepared. The experimental results showed that drivers were more satisfied to the road condition with PG technology applied, and even the pattern of speed reduction was more stable than control condition. The pattern of speed reduction along driver's subjective driving workload level were slightly different by physical road condition, and road user's satisfaction was revealed to be negatively correlated with their subjective driving workload level. This result indicates that depending on situation and driver characteristic, information for the drivers could be nothing more than nuisance that just distracts drivers. In order to facilitate the implementation of PG technology in Korea, further study on related human factors, especially for those who are weak in traffic situations, is recommended.

The Mediating Effect of Life Stress in the Relationships Between Commercial Drivers' Stress Coping Styles and Problematic Drinking Behaviors (사업용운전자의 스트레스 대처방식이 음주문제행동에 미치는 영향: 생활스트레스의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • In spite of the efforts to reduce traffic accidents of commercial vehicles, the number of driving under the influence (DUI) of commercial drivers has been increasing. This study examines the effect of stress coping style of commercial drivers on driving behaviors. Specifically, this research aims to find the role of life stress as a mediator in the relationships between the stress coping style and problematic drinking behaviors. 1308 licensed commercial vehicle drivers participated in this research. Results showed that life stress mediated the relationships between problem focused strategies, wishful thinking strategies, passive avoidance strategies and problematic drinking behaviors. These findings indicate that educating drivers to change their stress coping styles would be helpful to inhibit them from being involved in drunken driving.

  • Transportation culture is an inseparable part of a group's overall culture. Since the term "transportation" is directly related to vehicular movement, I would like to propose the more general term: transportation culture and use that in the following paragraphs. Transportation culture is on one hand expressed by the consumers of transportation services reflecting their overall social culture and on the other hand taken into account by transportation professionals. Ministry of Land and Transportation conducted the Transportation Culture Index, a nationally representative survey, to assess a few key indicators of the degree to which ttransportation culture is valued and is being pursued every year. In this study, recommendation for TCI are explained based on theoretical framework and changing environment.

Development of Emotion Recognition Model Using Audio-video Feature Extraction Multimodal Model (음성-영상 특징 추출 멀티모달 모델을 이용한 감정 인식 모델 개발)

  • Physical and mental changes caused by emotions can affect various behaviors, such as driving or learning behavior. Therefore, recognizing these emotions is a very important task because it can be used in various industries, such as recognizing and controlling dangerous emotions while driving. In this paper, we attempted to solve the emotion recognition task by implementing a multimodal model that recognizes emotions using both audio and video data from different domains. After extracting voice from video data using RAVDESS data, features of voice data are extracted through a model using 2D-CNN. In addition, the video data features are extracted using a slowfast feature extractor. And the information contained in the audio and video data, which have different domains, are combined into one feature that contains all the information. Afterwards, emotion recognition is performed using the combined features. Lastly, we evaluate the conventional methods that how to combine results from models and how to vote two model's results and a method of unifying the domain through feature extraction, then combining the features and performing classification using a classifier.

Comparison of characteristics of risk behaviors and injuries between elderly and young population in Korea: application of convergence educational concept (국내 노인들의 위험행동과 손상발생의 특성: 융복합적 개념의 적용)

  • This convergence study was conducted to compare difference of risk behaviors and injury incidence between younger(under 65 years) and elderly(over 65 years). For this analysis we used law data of nation-wide community health survey data during August to October 2010. Data of drink-driving, seat belt use, injury incidence rate, type of injury, cause of injury were used for comparison. Seat belt use(85.16% vs 78.81%) was high but drink-driving(12.99% vs 13.24%) was low in elderly. Injury incidence was high especially in falls(1.07% vs 2.22%). In conclusion, elderly do less risk behaviors, but experienced much more injuries especially falls.

Influence of Oxygen Rate on Driver Fatigue During Simulated Driving (차량 시뮬레이터에서 산소농도에 따른 운전 피로감의 평가)

  • Driving involves a series of complicated precesses requiring various human capacities, such as perception, will decision, and athletic functions. Consequently, it induces a high degree of continuous concentration of mind and tension from external stimulation, bringing fatigue to the driver, and driver fatigue is counted as one of the major causes of traffic accidents. Nevertheless, because of the complicated urban lives, traffic congestion, job characteristics, and so on, the drivers have to spend a longer time inside a vehicle, and the fatigue and stress thereof is almost unavoidable. We haute, therefore, turned our attention to the reduction in the fatigue during driving by supplying oxygen, and investigated in this research the drivers subjective fatigue evaluations and reaction time when oxygen is supplied in different rates. As a result, we have found that the subjective fatigue feeling is highest at low-rate O/Sub 2/ supply (18%), and fatigue feeling was comparatively reduced at high-rate O/Sub 2/ (30%). The sleepiness also showed the tendency to be reduced at high-rate O/Sub 2/ supply in the case of driving for 1 hour or more. The time for reaction to braking after the sign for urgent stop is given tends to show more substantial reduction at high-rate O/Sub 2/ supply than at low-rate O/Sub 2/ supply after 2 hours driving. It can, therefore, be deduced from the aforesaid results that the subjective responses and behavioral reactions tend to show reduced fatigue at the condition of high-rate O/Sub 2/ supply. Hence, it was suggested that drivers felt subjective fatigue while driving at low-rate O/Sub 2/ and the subjective fatigue and reaction time were reduced at high-rate O/Sub 2/. These findings suggest that the oxygen supply will reduce driver fatigue.

  • As the automobile industry and technologies are developed, driver's tend to more concern about service matters than mechanical matters. For this reason, interests about recognition of human knowledge and emotion to make safe and convenient driving environment for driver are increasing more and more. recognition of human knowledge and emotion are emotion engineering technology which has been studied since the late 1980s to provide people with human-friendly services. Emotion engineering technology analyzes people's emotion through their faces, voices and gestures, so if we use this technology for automobile, we can supply drivels with various kinds of service for each driver's situation and help them drive safely. Furthermore, we can prevent accidents which are caused by careless driving or dozing off while driving by recognizing driver's gestures. the purpose of this paper is to develop a system which can recognize states of driver's emotion and attention for safe driving. First of all, we detect a signals of driver's emotion by using bio-motion signals, sleepiness and attention, and then we build several types of databases. by analyzing this databases, we find some special features about drivers' emotion, sleepiness and attention, and fuse the results through Multi-Modal method so that it is possible to develop the system.

  • 최근 원전 경보시스템은 운전원이 상황을 판단하는 데 불필요한 일시적인 경보나 결과 경보를 감축 및 억제하여 운전원의 주의가 특별히 필요한 경보에 집중하도록 하는 개량형 경보처리를 필요로 한다. 데이터베이스를 기반으로 원전 개량형 경보 시스템은 데이터베이스에 어떤 이벤트가 발생하면, 특정 공정을 검사해 조건이 맞는 경우 어떤 행동을 자동적으로 수행하여 경보처리를 수행할 필요가 있다. 또한 능동규칙의 사용으로 데이터베이스 상태 변화에 자동으로 대응하는 유용성을 확보해야 한다. 따라서 시간제한 개념을 가지는 데이터베이스 모델과 이를 바탕으로 한 능동 처리 기능을 가진 실시간 시스템을 구축하여 경보감축 및 억제를 수행할 수 있다. 본 논문은 원전의 개량형 경보처리를 위한 데이터베이스 설계 고려 사항들을 분석하여 실시간 능동 데이터베이스 기술을 도입하기 위한 분석을 수행한다. 그리고 능동 규칙을 이용한 개량형 경보처리 예와 구현 고려사항을 파악한 후 개발 계획을 정립한다.

Driving Behavior Characteristic Analysis of an Older Driver on a Driving Simulator (운전 시뮬레이터를 이용한 고령자의 운전행동 특성 분석)

  • Using driving simulator, we analyzed the driving behavior of an older driver on intersection and measured the pychological load to HRV. As a results, older drivers started to enter the more complex intersection on a great distance and on low velocity for safety driving. On the other hand, the value of HRV would be lower on more complex intersections. It suggested that an older driver allowed for his own losses of physiological and cognitive function and recognized low level of driving confidence relatively.
