Analysis of Highway Hazardous Area by Sun Glare Intensity Using GIS Simulation (GIS Simulation을 이용한 태양광에 의한 교통사고 위험지역 분석)

  • Existing traffic safety studies have focused on identifying the relationship among roadway crashes, highway design and incremental weather condition such as rainy/ice weather. However, it is hard to find researches that studied the effect of sun glare on traffic safety although there are abundant evidences demonstrating that fatal traffic crashes are attributed to the sun glare. Affecting drivers'vision particularly during the morning or the evening time when the sun positions close to the horizon, sun glare directly deteriorate drivers'judgmental capability. In this paper, we numerically analyze the effect of sun glare on the drivers'vision in time and space domains. Applied to the roadways around St Louis area in the United States, the GIS based simulation analysis identifies the time of day in a year and the segments of highways that are potentially influenced by the sun glare. This study evidentially confirms the fact that roadway bounded for West and East directions have longer time influenced by sun glare particularly during Spring and Fall season than other roadways. The computational result provides risky time periods of day at intersections or pedestrian crossings where the sun glare potentially endangers traffic safety, which be utilized to reduce the crashes due to the sun glare.

  • Due to the recent emergence of global warming concerns, the UN has made the issue of climate change its top priority. Accordingly, Korea has announced a new national master plan titled, 'Participation in global efforts in climate change through -Low Carbon, Green Growth-'. As part of the plan, the constructions of bicycle path networks are being pushed forward. Although the building of bicycle paths and infrastructure is being implemented, little consideration has been given for bicycle path signage. This essay is the study of methodology in the installation of signs on bicycle paths. The research includes a theoretical study of the standard and installation position of signs with consideration of the geometry of bicycles as well issues such as the distance required for the bicyclist to recognize and understand the road sign and to take actions like stopping, In addition, experimental verification of the test results has been carried out. Also, the test on height of signs by changing the installation heights according to a bicyclist's forward vision angle has been conducted.

Image Data Loss Minimized Geometric Correction for Asymmetric Distortion Fish-eye Lens (비대칭 왜곡 어안렌즈를 위한 영상 손실 최소화 왜곡 보정 기법)

  • Due to the fact that fisheye lens can provide super wide angles with the minimum number of cameras, field-of-view over 180 degrees, many vehicles are attempting to mount the camera system. Not only use the camera as a viewing system, but also as a camera sensor, camera calibration should be preceded, and geometrical correction on the radial distortion is needed to provide the images for the driver's assistance. In this thesis, we introduce a geometric correction technique to minimize the loss of the image data from a vehicle fish-eye lens having a field of view over $180^{\circ}$, and a asymmetric distortion. Geometric correction is a process in which a camera model with a distortion model is established, and then a corrected view is generated after camera parameters are calculated through a calibration process. First, the FOV model to imitate a asymmetric distortion configuration is used as the distortion model. Then, we need to unify the axis ratio because a horizontal view of the vehicle fish-eye lens is asymmetrically wide for the driver, and estimate the parameters by applying a non-linear optimization algorithm. Finally, we create a corrected view by a backward mapping, and provide a function to optimize the ratio for the horizontal and vertical axes. This minimizes image data loss and improves the visual perception when the input image is undistorted through a perspective projection.

  • 블랙박스는 많은 운전자들이 사고 발생 시 사고 경위를 파악하는데 널리 쓰이고 있다. 하지만 블랙박스의 시야각과 용량의 한계로 인해 사고 경위 파악에 어려움을 겪는다. 본 논문에서는 이런 문제를 해결하기 위해 차량 간 블랙박스 영상을 공유하는 시스템을 소개하고자 한다. 이 시스템을 통해 사고 차량은 다각도에서의 사고 영상을 얻을 수 있어 사고 경위 분석에 도움이 된다. 또한 이 시스템을 확장하여 차량뿐만 아니라 주변 영상 촬영기기 (CCTV 등)와도 영상을 공유할 수 있다.

  • The highway weaving section is a point where there is a conflict caused by entry and exit vehicles. In order to minimize the impact on the main line, an accumulation line should be installed. The design speed of the collecting part is 50 km/h, but the actual driver does not have proper deceleration according to the design speed. In this study, considering the driving behaviors, the design specification, and the driver 's viewing angle, the appropriate separation distance for safe entry and exit of collecting, connecting, and collecting roads was examined. As a result of the analysis, it is found that a distance of 60m is required from the point where the merging starts. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the improvement of driver safety due to the conflict between entry and exit vehicles when applied to the weaving section where collecting roads are installed.

  • Due to the fact that fish-eye lens can provide super wide angles with the minimum number of cameras, field-of-view over 180 degrees, many vehicles are attempting to mount the camera system. Camera calibration should be preceded, and geometrical correction on the radial distortion is needed to provide the images for the driver's assistance. However, vehicle fish-eye cameras have diagonal output images rather than circular images and have asymmetric distortion beyond the horizontal angle. In this paper, we introduce a camera model and metric calibration method for vehicle cameras which uses feature points of the image. And undistort the input image through a perspective projection, where straight lines should appear straight. The method fitted vehicle fish-eye lens with different field of views.

An Estimation of Driving Aptitude Effect on Traffic Safety (운전적성결손이 교통사고에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • 본 연구는 교통사고 야기 자들의 운전정밀적성검사기록과 해당 교통사고기록을 비교하여 특정 운전적성상의 결손이 교통사고와 특정유형의 교통사고에 미치는 영향을 계량적으로 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 본 연구를 위하여 우리나라에서 가장 빈발하는 인적요인에 의한 교통사고 유형 중에서 교통상충이 빈발하는 지점에서 발생하는 차-대-차 사고를 조사분석대상으로 삼았다. 이와 같이 분석대상사고를 선정한 이유는 교통상충이 교통사고로 발전하는 과정에서 사고 제1당사자의 운전적성의 역할을 파악하고자하는 목적에서이다. 따라서 본 연구의 대상이 되는 교통사고 유형을 1. 교차로 진입부에서의 추돌사고, 2. 교차로내 충추돌사고, 3. 단일로상의 추돌사고로 선정하였다. 판별력이 의문시되는 4개 항목을 제외한 조사분석결과에서 하나의 항목을 제외하고 사고 야기자와 일반인의 운전적성상에 통계적으로 분명한 차이가 있으며 각 항목의 결손자 집단에서의 사고자 비율이 일반운전자 집단에 비해 교통사고를 경험한 확률이 2배 내지 4배 가량 높았다. 또한 특정 유형 사고 야기자와 사고 야기자 전체, 일반운전자 집단간 비교에서도 항목별 결손율이 분명한 다른 형태를 갖고 있다는 사실을 확인했으며, 특정유형의 결손(조합)자 집합에서 특정 교통사고 유형을 야기시켰을 확률이 일반인 집단에 비해 많게는 13배 적게는 3, 4배 정도 높다고 추정되었다.

  • 교통사고 예측은 차량의 블랙박스 동영상을 통해 사고 발생을 최대한 빨리 예측하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이는 안전한 자율주행 시스템을 보장하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다. 다양한 교통 상황과 카메라의 제한된 시야로 인해 프레임에서 사고 가능성을 조기에 관찰하는 것은 어려운 도전이다. 예측의 핵심 기술은 객체의 시공간 관계를 학습하는 것이다. 본 논문에서는 블랙박스 동영상에서 사고 예측을 위한 계산 모델을 제안한다. 이것을 사용하여 사고 예방을 강화한다. 이 모델은 사고 위험에 대한 운전자의 시각적 인식에서 영감을 받았다. 객체 탐지기는 동영상 프레임에서 다양한 객체를 탐지한다. 탐지한 객체는 노드 생성기와 특징 추출기 동시에 통과한다. 노드 생성기에서 생성한 노드는 GCN 실행기를 사용한다. GCN 실행기는 각 프레임에 대한 객체의 3D 위치 관계를 계산한 후 공간 특징을 취득한다. 동시에 공간 특징과 특징 추출기에서 얻은 객체의 특징은 GRU 실행기로 보내진다. GRU 실행기 안에 시공간 특징을 암기하고 분석하여 교통사고 확률을 예측한다.

A Study on fusion design development direction of the Flexible display base (플렉서블 디스플레이 기반의 융합형 디자인개발에 관한 연구 -Head-Up Display 가상시나리오 구현을 중심으로-)

  • Head-Up Display, an information-providing display, is a device that provides necessary information through a vehicle window for a driver when driving, with which the driver secures the visibility and acquires information necessary for driving. Head-up displays in early days were mostly installed in imported vehicles but increasingly, being installed in medium and large-sized domestic vehicles, they secures convenience of driving and information acquirement. The information display element of each of currently released brand cars not only has limits in consistency and in displaying interface but also reveals the limitation of a way to apply GUI, being applied to dot reflective form in terms of the technology type. Accordingly, this study draws real time information element described as necessary during driving through case survey and analysis, and aims to provide a user with new GUI guideline through transparent display technology recently developed based on results analyzed with priority of POI(Point of Interest) information.
