  • 전정기관은 자세의 조절에 관여하지만, 전정기관의 손상은 현기증 및 자세부조화를 초래한다. 본 연구에서는 현기증의 원인을 규명할 목적으로 전정기능을 평가할 수 있는 정현파 회전자극시스템을 개발하고자 하였다. 정현파 회전자극시스템은 회전의자와 구동 및 분석프로그램으로 구성하였으며, DC 서보모터로 구동되는 회전의자는 0.01-0.64 Hz의 주파수범위에서 60 ˚/sec의 초고속도로 정현파 회전한다. 현기증 환자에서 전정기능을 평가하기 위하여 전정안구반사, 시운동성 전정안구반사 및 시각의 억제에 의한 전정안구반사를 측정하여 안구운동의 이득, 위상, 대칭성 등을 산출하도록 정현파 회전자극시스템을 개발하였으며, 정상 성인에서 시험한 결과 신뢰성있는 성적을 얻었다. 따라서 본 시스템은 현기증 환자의 진단 및 치료정도를 판정할 수 있으르로 임상적으로 널리 사용할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • 지면에 가까이 있는 비행체나 수면에 가까이 있는 수중 운동체에서 도래하는 신호는 직접파와 반사파로 구성되어 있다. 그런 환경에서는 반사파가 직접파와 coherent한 관계를 갖는다. 이런 현상으로 해서 DOA추정을 위해 추정한 correlation 행렬이 singular한 성질을 갖게 된다. 이렇게 singular한 행렬은 DOA추정에 큰 오류를 내게 된다. 또 움직이는 대상의 경우 추정 correlation 행렬의 성질이 시간에 따라 변하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 위 두 상황을 함께 해결하기 위해서 PASTd알고리즘을 변형하여 Forward/Backward Variable forgetting factor를 도입한 PASTd알고리즘을 제안한다.

Measurement of Vestibular Ocular Reflex in Normal Subjects Using Galvanic Stimulator and Videooculograph (전기자극과 VOG(Videooculograph)를 이용한 정상인의 전정 안반사 측정)

  • In this study, a galvanic stimulator providing bipolar mode controlled by a PIC(peripheral interface controller) was constructed to evaluate vestibular function The maximum load and maximum current intensity of the constant current source were 3$k\Omega$ and 5mA. respectively. and it could Produce DC, sine wavers. or Pulse waves. Eve movements of 20 normal subjects by galvanic stimulation were analyzed using a commercial videooculogragh. During stimulating with DC for 30 sec. we recorded the response of eye movement with current intensity of 0.75. 1 2, and 3 mA. Nystagmus occurred to all the subjects when the galvanic stimulus intensity was larger than 2 mA. Average SPV(slow Phase eye movement velocity) and the number of nystagmus increased from 7.1 to 4.8 deg/sec and from 17 to 48, respectively, when the stimulus current increased from 0.75 to 3 mA. All the fast eye movement of the nystagmus were the direction of the negative electrode. The asymmetry which means the difference between right- and left-eye movements decreased when the stimulus intensity increased. It is expected that this study would be useful in evaluating vestibular function and in studying basic Physiology mechanism of vestibular ocular reflex by galvanic stimulus .

Effects of Gastrocnemius Stretching on α-Motor Neuron Excitability and Ankle Joint Active Dorsiflexion Range of Motion (비복근 스트레칭이 α-운동 신경원 흥분도와 족관절 능동 배측굴곡 가동범위에 미치는 영향)

  • The aims of this study were to determined whether excitability of the $\alpha$-motor neuron is modulated by stretching and this changes were associated with flexibility of the muscle. In this study, $\alpha$-motor neuron excitability was measured by using the Hmax/Mmax ratio of the gastrocnemius H-reflex, and muscle flexibility was measured with the range of motion of the ankle dorsiflexion. The gastrocnemii of 10 healthy volunteers were stretched for 4 minutes(2 minutes stretching, 1 minute rest, and 2 minutes stretching) in each session by manual force. The Hmax/Mmax ratio of the H-reflex, as well as the range of motion of the ankle dosiflexion was measured through four different conditions: before stretching, as soon as after $1^{st}$ stretching, as soon as after $2^{nd}$ stretching and at 48 hours after $2^{nd}$ stretching. Excitability of the $\alpha$-motor neuron was decreased significantly after $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ stretching(p<0.05). Furthermore, the range of the dorsiflexion was increased significantly after $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ stretching(p<0.05). However, the excitability of the $\alpha$-motor neuron and range of the dorsiflexion at 48 hours after $2^{nd}$ stretching were not different from those of before stretching. These results suggest that reduced $\alpha$-motor neuron excitability of the gastrocnemius and increased flexibility of the ankle dorsiflexion would be followed by activation of the type III mechanoreceptor which around the ankle joint and the Golgi tendon organ in the gastrocnemius.

Estrogen Attenuates the Pressor Response Mediated by the Group III Mechanoreflex (폐경전후 여성의 Group III 기계적 수용기 자극 시 운동승압반사의 비교)

  • Purpose: We investigated the effects of group III mechanoreceptors to cardiovascular responses in both pre-menopausal woman and post-menopausal woman during passive ankle dorsiflexion (PAD). Methods: Twenty healthy volunteers (10 post-menopausal women and 10 pre-menopausal women) were recruited for this study. Stroke volume (SV), heart rate (HR), cardiac output (CO), and total vascular conductances (TVC) were measured continuously throughout the experiment. To stimulate the group III mechanoreceptors, PAD was performed for one minute. Results: The results showed that mean arterial pressure (MAP) mediated by the mechanoreflex activation was significantly increased in both groups. However, this pressor response was significantly higher in post-menopausal women. This reflex significantly increased both SV and CO in pre-menopausal women, while there were no differences in post-menopausal women. There was no difference in HR in either group. The mechanoreflex significantly decreased TVC in post-menopausal woman, while there was no difference in pre-menopausal woman. Conclusion: The results indicate that the excessive pressor response mediated by the mechanoreflex occurs due to overactivity of group III mechanorecptors and the mechanism is produced mainly via peripheral vasoconstriction in post-menopausal women.

Characteristics of Virtual Reflection Images in Seismic Interferometry Using Synthetic Seismic Data (합성탄성파자료를 이용한 지진파 간섭법의 가상반사파 영상 특성)

  • To characterize virtual reflection images of deep subsurface by the method of seismic interferometry, we analyzed effects of offset range, ambient noise, missing data, and statics on interferograms. For the analyses, seismic energy was simulated to be generated by a 5 Hz point source at the surface. Vertical components of particle velocity were computed at 201 sensor locations at 100 m depths of 1 km intervals by the finite difference method. Each pair of synthetic seismic traces was cross-correlated to generate stacked reflection section by the conventional processing method. Wide-angle reflection problems in reflection interferometry can be minimized by setting a maximum offset range. Ambient noise, missing data, and statics turn to yield processing noise that spreads out from virtual sources due to stretch mutes during normal moveout corrections. The level of processing noise is most sensitive to amplitude and duration time of ambient noise in stacked sections but also affected by number of missing data and the amount of statics.

  • Vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) is a compensatory response of the extraocular muscles generated by vestibular signals to stabilize images on the retina during head/body movements. It has been reported that mismatches between retinal and vestibular information, which cause motion sickness or cybersickness, modify VOR. To investigate the characteristic changes of VOR in subjects experiencing cybersickness, we developed a low-cost, multi-purpose VOR measurement system using LabVIEW and Arduino. To test the applicability of the system, we performed two experiments. In Experiment 1, horizontal and vertical VORs of four participants were measured using a vestibular autorotation task. In Experiment 2, eight participants were exposed to a virtual navigation to measure changes of VORs as an index of cybersickness. We observed significantly greater head rotations and eye movements while the participants were exposed to the virtual navigation than to a static image. The results suggest that the present system can help understand the psychophysiological mechanisms of cybersickness symptoms.

  • In the cases of the experimentally destroyed receptor organ of the Corti of the cats, "electric cochlea" were inserted near the auditory neuron through the Scala tympani as an input of the inner device, and outer device is placed near the receiver of the audiometer. During exposing noise through the outer device, kymographic record were obtained as following: 1) Correlation between increasing intensity and amplitude showed parallel responses 2) The auricular reflex by repeated stimulation of the sound showed considerable increase at first, and decrease respectively. 3) In this experimental animals, absolutely non-responsed period, relatively non-responsed period and responsed period were observed. 4) Above mentioned reflex indicate that "Auditory sensation" can be induced by inserted "Electric cochlea" in the cases of the experimentally destroyed receptor organ of Corti of the cats.
