수중 용접봉으로 용접한 누수배관 용접부위의 부식 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Corrosion Characteristics on Welding Zone of Leakage SeawaterPipe Welded by Underwater Welding Electrode)

  • Leakage trouble on the sea water pipeline in engine room is often resulted from a localized corrosion due to severe corrosive environment caused by both high speed and high pressure of sea water flowing through the inner pipe. In addition, when the ship is in stand-by or emergency condition, underwater welding to control the leakage of sea water from a hole of its pipe is very important in an industrial safety point of view. In this study possibility of underwater welding to control leakage of sea water and corrosion property of its welding zone were investigated with the electrochemical methods by parameters of welding methods and welding electrodes when underwater welding is achieved with a such case that sea water is being leaked out with a height at 50mm from a hole of $2.5mm{\emptyset}$ of test pipe. Corrosion resistance of weld metal zone is better than the base metal and its hardness is higher than that of the base metal. However corrosion potential of weld metal zone showed a negative value than that of the base metal, therefore weld metal zone is preferentially corroded rather than the base metal by performance of galvanic cell due to difference of corrosion potential between weld metal zone and base metal.   • Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding is commonly used in industries that require airtightness, watertightness, oiltightness, and precision. It is a non-consumable welding method that is commonly used for the welding of non-ferrous metals, but it can be used to weld most metals. The methods of TIG welding can be divided into three types. The first, manual welding is done directly on the metal by a welder with a torch. The second, semi-automatic welding, gets help from a material supplying machine, but it is conducted by a welder. Lastly, automated welding is conducted fully by a machine during its process and operation. Depending on the selection of electrode, the amount of heat that is applied to the base material and the electrode rod changes and makes the shape of welded parts different. A direct-current positive electrode was used for this study. Through the change of shielding gas type on a structural steel (SS-400) that is commonly used in industry, the composition and shape changes in welded parts were detected after welding. The heat-affected area, hardness value, and tensile strength were also identified through hardness testing and tensile testing. In this study, it was found that the higher hardness value of the heat-affected is, the weaker the tensile strength becomes.

고온 증기 파이프의 잔여수명 평가 (Remaining Life Assessment of High Temperature Steam Piping)

  • 최근에 국내 화력발전설비도 사용 기간이 30년을 넘게 됨에 따라, 고온설비의 경년열화도 평가 및 수명예측 기술에 대한 연구가 활발해지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 l965년부터 사용되어 노 후된 영월화력발전소 2호기의 주증기 파이프를 대상으로 실시한 열화도 및 수명평가 결과를 보고하였다. 주증기관의 취약부인 맞대기 용접부, 지류 용접부, Y부 및 T부 등의 용접부에 대해 표면복제법, 경도측정법을 사용하여 수명평가를 실시하였으며, 비파괴 검사에 의해 균열이 탐지된 경우에는 수명평가 컴퓨터 코드를 사용하여 균열성장에 의한 잔여수명을 계산하였다. 또한 파이프 모재의 잔여 수명은 해석적 방법에 의해 정량적으로 잔여수명을 계산한 후, 외경 패출량 측정, 입계부식법 등에 의해 재질 열화도를 정성적으로 평가하였다. 본 논문에서 사용한 기법 이외의 방법을 사용하여 수명평가 정확도를 개선하는 방향에 대한 의견도 제시하였다.

원자로 CRDM 관통노즐 J-Groove 용접부 잔류응력 예측을 위한 유한요소 변수 민감도 해석 (Sensitivity Analysis of Finite Element Parameters for Estimating Residual Stress of J-Groove Weld in RPV CRDM Penetration Nozzle)

  • 최근 원자로 압력용기 상부헤드 관통노즐 J-groove 용접부 주변에서 균열로 인한 냉각수 누출사고가 발행하고 있다. 이러한 사고의 원인은 용접에 의한 인장잔류응력, 농축된 붕산수 및 응력부식에 민감한 재료로 인한 일차수응력부식균열(PWSCC : primary water stress corrosion cracking)인 것으로 판명되었다. PWSCC 평가는 원자로 건전성 평가의 주요 관심사로서 용접에 의해 발생되는 잔류응력을 정확하게 예측함으로써 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 유한요소해석을 이용하여 국내 원자로의 일반적인 J-groove 용접부의 해석절차를 소개하고, 용접해석 관련 변수의 민감도 해석을 통해 잔류응력 예측기법을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 2 차원 및 3 차원 요한요소해석 방법을 바탕으로 변수 민감도 해석을 수행하였으며, 기존 연구결과와 비교를 통해 해석절차 및 방법의 유용성을 검정하였다.

피스톤 크라운용 단강에 인코넬 718 용접재료로 용접된 용접부의 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Characteristics of Welding Zones Welded with Inconel 718 Filler Metal to Piston Crown Forged Material)

  • The combustion chamber of a diesel engine is often exposed to a more serious wear and corrosion environment than other parts of the engine because its temperature increases as a result of using heavy oil of low quality. Therefore, repair and built-up welding methods must be performed on worn or corroded parts of the piston crown, exhaust valve, etc. from an economical point of view. In this study, Inconel 718 filler metal was used in repair welding on the groove of a forged steel specimen for a piston crown, along with built-up welding on the surface of another forged steel specimen. Then, the corrosion characteristics of the weld metal zone for the repair welding and the deposited metal zone for the built-up welding were investigated using electrochemical methods in a 35% H2SO4 solution. The deposited metal zone indicated better corrosion resistance than the weld metal zone, showing a nobler corrosion potential, higher impedance, and smaller corrosion current density. It is considered that metal elements with good corrosion resistance were generally included in the filler metal, and these elements were also greatly involved in the deposited meta by built-up welding, whereas the weld metal consisted of metal elements mixed with both the filler metal and base metal elements because of the molten pool produced by the repair welding. Finally, it is considered that the hardness of the weld metal was increased by the repair welding, whereas the built-up welding improved the corrosion resistance of the deposited metal.

강 봉(SM45C) 맞대기 용접부의 피로수명 평가 (Estimation of Fatigue Life in Butt-Welded Zone of SM45C Steel Rod)

  • SM45C steel rods being used generally for power transmission shafts and machine components was selected and welded by Butt-GMAW(Gas Metal Arc Welding) method. An estimation of fatigue life was studied by constructing S-N curve. Fatigue strength of base metal zone showed higher values than one of weld zone in low cycles between $10^4$ and $10^6$cycles. However, significant decrease in fatigue strength of base metal was found around $10^6$cycles, which were almost same as one of heat affected zone. This decrease was attributed that initial residual stress of the steel rods distributed by drawing process was diminished by continually applied load, and resulted in softening of base metal. The fatigue limit of the weld zone was highest in the boundary between deposited metal zone and heat affected zone, and followed by in the order of deposited metal zone, base metal zone, and heat affected zone. Based on these results, it is revealed that the stress for safety design of machine components using SM45C butt-welded steel rods must be selected within the region of the lowest fatigue limit of heat affected zone.

페라이트계 스테인리스강 / 용융아연도금강 이종 저항 점용접부의 특성 (Resistance Spot Weldability of Ferritic Stainless Steel and Galvanized Steel)

  • A ferritic stainless steel, STS430, and a galvanized steel for case and frame of electronic goods are welded by resistance spot welding and resistance projection welding methods. In this study, resistance spot welding has been performed to investigate the weldability of dissimilar materials such as a ferritic stainless steel and a galvanized steel. Tensile load of the spot weld without heat treatment was 196 kN and brittle fracture occurred at interface between STS430 and nugget due to the high hardness, 380 Hv, in nugget. It was found that the hardness of as-welded nugget increased with higher cooling rate during resistance spot welding by comparing with GTA weld of same materials. Heat treatment by applying second current made nugget softened. Tensile load of heat treated weld increased and reached to 303 kN and fracture occurred at base metal, a galvanized steel.

대입열 EH36-TM강의 Tandem EGW 용접부 미세조직 및 기계적 성질 (Mechanical Properties and Microstructures of High Heat Input Welded Tandem EGW Joint in EH36-TM Steel)

  • In the coarse grained HAZ of conventional TiN steel, most TiN particles are dissolved and austenite grain growth easily occurrs during high heat input welding. To avoid this difficulty, thermal stability of TiN particles is improved by increasing nitrogen content in EH36-TM steel. Increased thermal stability of TiN particle is helpful for preventing austenite grain growth by the pinning effect. In this study, the mechanical properties and microstructures of high heat input welded Tandem EGW joint in EH36-TM steel with high nitrogen content were investigated. The austenite grain size in simulated HAZ of the steel at $1400^{\circ}C$ was much smaller than that of conventional TiN steel. Even for high heat input welding, the microstructure of coarse grained HAZ consisted of fine ferrite and pearlite and the mechanical properties of the joint were sufficient to meet all the requirements specified in classification rule.

원자로 상부헤드 관통노즐 균열에 대한 원인분석 및 건전성 평가 (Root Cause Analysis and Structural Integrity Evaluation for a Crack in a Reactor Vessel Upper Head Penetration Nozzle)

  • This paper presents the results of integrity assessment for the cracks happened in reactor vessel upper head penetration nozzles. The crack morphology for a boat sample from crack area was analyzed through microscope. The stress condition including weld residual stress around crack was analyzed using finite element analysis. From the results of crack morphology and stress condition, the crack was concluded as primary water stress corrosion cracking. The integrity of the cracked nozzle was assessed by the methodology provided in ASME Section XI. According to the assessment results, the remaining life of the cracked nozzle was 1.43 yrs. and the plant decided to repair it.

하이드로포밍용 열연 강재의 레이저 용접성 및 성형 특성 (Laser Weldability and Formability of Hot Rolled Steels for Hydroforming Applications)

  • The laser welding and its analysis of thin-sheet carbon steels were carried out with high power $CO_{2}$ laser. The main factor of weld quality of laser welding is gap and edge quality. This work was preformed to focus on the gap tolerance problem during laser welding. First, bead on plate welding of thin sheet was examined to investigate the effect of laser welding variables, and to obtain optimum welding condition. Butt welding was also carried out to show the effect of gap on the laser weldability of thin sheet. In order to investigate the effect of gap on formability of welded thin sheet, LDH test was caried out. At high welding speed, the partial penetration was obtained by low heat input. Otherwise, porosity was formed in the bead at low weld speed because of too much heat input. The optimum welding condition of welding was derived from bead width, penetration and hardness property. The maximum gap tolerance on laser welding was observed to be about 0.2mm. This gap size has good relationship with beam size of laser spot(about 0.3mm). The formability of welded sheet was about $80{\%}$ value of base metal and the gap size has not affected on the formability, although weld quality is dependent on the gap size.
