  • 비파괴검사(NDT)란 시험품에 손상을 주지 않고 내.외부에 존재하는 불연속부(결함)을 찾아내는 방법으로 다음과 같이 그 종류를 분류할 수 있다. (1) 표면결함 검출을 위한 비파괴검사 - 육안검사(VT) : 확대경 등에 의한 치수, 형상확인 - 자분탐상검사(MT) : 강자성체에 적용, 표면(하) 결함검출 - 침투탐상검사(PT) : 금속, 비철금속에 적용, 표면개구 결함검출 - 와류탐상검사(ET) : 도체 표층부(봉, 관 등) (2) 내부결함 검출을 위한 비파괴검사 - 방사선 투과검사(RT) : 결함의 종류, 형상의 판별 우수 - 초음파 탐상검사(UT) : 균열 등 면상 결함검출 등 우수 (3) 기타 비파괴검사 - Strain 측정 : 안전성 평가 - 음향방출시험(AET) - 누설시험(LT) - 중성자 방사선시험(NRT) 이상에서 보는 바와 같이 여러 종류의 비파괴검사가 있으나, 그 중에서 용접부에 적용되는 가장 일반적인 검사방법인 방사선 투과검사에 대해 기술하고자 한다.

  • 최근 토요타 자동차의 대량 리콜 사태로 안전과 관련된 자동차 품질에 대한 관심과 중요성이 크게 부각되었다. 본 연구에서는 나날이 높아지고 있는 자동차 품질 기준과 생산 비용 절감, 공정 자동화 요구에 부응하기 위한 차체 저항 점 용접부 품질 검사 자동화 기술 개발을 위해 적용 가능한 센서들을 비교, 검토하였다. 알려진 비파괴 검사 방법은 초음파, 와전류, 방사선 검사법 등 다양한 방법들이 존재하지만, 이 연구에서는 생산 라인 현장 적용이 가능한 소형 센서들을 중심으로 검토 영역을 제한하였다. 검토된 비파괴 검사 방법은 총 5가지 종류로 종래의 수동 초음파 검사법, 집적된 탐촉자를 이용한 3차원 초음파 검사법, NAUT(Non-contact Air-coupled Ultrasonic Test), EMAT(EletroMagnetic Acoustic Test), 그리고 너겟 프로파일러$^{TM}$이다. 이 연구에서는 각 검사법의 원리와 장단점을 설명하고 생산 라인 적용에 필요한 필수 항목들에 대해 고찰하였다.

  • The non-destructive testing using infrared thermography is extended to a variety of industries and non-destructive testing of welds using infrared thermography is also in progress in various ways. Currently, a non-destructive testing of electrical resistance spot welds which is mainly used is Radiography Testing. This study detected area of spot welds nugget using optical-infrared thermography. In the results, it is possible for detecting defects of nugget in a short period of time using pulse-infrared thermography.

  • In shipbuilding industry, there is conducting most of works by welding at the shipyard, and the volume of welding is increasing with international trends of green ships. Welding joint is guaranteed quality through non-destructive testing (NDT). The manual welding inspection report is produced by identifying the drawings designed, which results in losses the many workforce and occurs human errors. To solve these problems, this paper covers a system that reports on inspection information is automatically generation by input data based on shipbuilding-specific CAD. The developed system analyzes the shape data from drawings of modeling. Also, the system determines welding joints through expansion of the part boundary and generates tag numbers. In addition, it provides the function to automatically extract the information needed for inspection such as weld length, thickness and etc. We conducted test to verify the usefulness of the developed system and confirmed that the welding inspection information extracted through system matches the information shown in drawings of modeling.

  • Failure of small bore piping welds is a recurring problem at nuclear power plants. And the socket weld cracking in small bore piping has caused unplanned plant shutdowns for repair and high economic impact on the plants. Consequently, early crack detection, including the detection of manufacturing defects, is of the utmost importance. Until now, the surface inspection methods has been applied according to ASME Section XI requirements. But the ultrasonic inspection as a volumetric method is also applying to enforce the inspection requirement. However, the conventional manual ultrasonic inspection techniques are used to detect service induced fatigue cracks. And there was uncertainty on manual ultrasonic inspection because of limited access to the welds and difficulties with contact between the ultrasonic probe and the OD(outer diameter) surface of small bore piping. In this study, phased array ultrasonic inspection technique is applied to increase inspection speed and reliability. To achieve this object, the 3.5 MHz phased array ultrasonic transducer are designed and fabricated. The manually encoded scanner was also developed to enhance contact conditions and maintain constant signal quality. Additionally inspection system is configured and inspection procedure is developed.

  • 화력발전소 보일러 배관은 복합한 형상과 다양한 형태로 용접되어 발전소 외관을 감싸고 있다. 발전소 운전에 필수적인 부분을 차지하기 때문에 주기적으로 발전소 점검기간에 모든 용접부위를 검사하여 품질 이상 부분에 대해서는 교체 작업 및 보수 작업을 수행해야한다. 지금까지는 작업자를 통한 검사이다보니 부정확성과 반복 결과가 유지되지 않았다. 본 논문에서는 디지털 방사선 투과 검사모듈을 장착한 자동화 검사 플랫폼을 제안한다.

  • 마찰용접의 실제적인 생산에의 응용은 중요 부품의 용접에 그 적용이 검토 되었지만 마찰용접의 실적이 적었기 때문에 다른각종의 용접법과 용접부 특성을 비교 확인할 정도이었을 뿐 마찰용접을 본격적으로 도입하는 데에는 많은 저항이 있었다. 그러나 각종 시험을 되풀이하고 확고한 근거가 마련된 단계에서도 품질에 대한 불안 이나 일반화되어 있지 않다고 하는 관점에서도 마찰용접이 갖는 매력 때문에 도입이 시도되었다. 따라서 마찰용접품의 관리에 대해서도 비정상적일 정도로 배려를 거듭하 여 초창기에는 전체를 비파괴 시험하거나 sample 파괴시험하는 등의 상당히 번잡한 검사를 거쳤다. 그러나 마찰용접품의 불량률이 격감하였다는 것과 검사결과가 양호 하다는 등 종래의 용접법에 비해 용접부의 품질이 매우 우수하고 또 재현성이 높다는 점이 증명된 이후 흡속히 마찰용접이 각 산업분야에 도입되었다.

Characteristics of Welds of Pure Titanium Plate Using Ultrasonic Attenuation (초음파 감쇠를 이용한 순 티타늄 판재의 용접부 특성)

  • This paper studies on mechanical properties, fractures, and ultrasonic characteristics of Pure Titanium welds using ultrasonic attenuation. Ti specimen was made by using AR purge gas. When the titanium weld specimen is fractured, Tensile tests were conducted in order to observe the ultrasonic signal changes. A scanning electron microscope(SEM) was used to observe changes in failure surface and an ultrasonic normal probe with the central frequency of 4 MHz was used to obtain ultrasonic signals. As a result, the value of the mechanical properties in the weld zone was lower than that in the base zone and heat affected zone(HAZ) from Ti. Also the grain size in the weld zone was bigger than that in the weld zone and HAZ from Ti. Ultrasonic signals using a RMS method presents correlation between envelope area and the tensile strength. Consequently, the ultrasonic method could be potential tool for integrity evaluation of the Ti weld zone.

  • 9% nickel alloy steels used for LNG, cryogenic liquid, storage tank are welded with dissimilar Inconel or Hastelloy welding rod and the weldment shows similar characteristic with the dissimilar metal weld of low carbon steel and austenitic stainless steel. Band type indications are sometimes shown on the film during radiography test of the weldments. Thus this study identified whether the indications are non-relevant indications through material, radiographic test, ultrasonic test, liquid penetrant test and microstructure analysis and also proposed radiography film interpretation and cause of band type indications.

  • Primary water stress corrosion cracking (PWSCC) instances have been reported in the Alloy 600 reactor pressure vessel head penetration nozzle and the Alloy 82/182 dissimilar metal butt weld nozzle in several PWRs. Therefore, in-service inspection programs have been adopted worldwide to prevent failure at the weld region. If a PWSCC is observed at the dissimilar metal weld region during inspection, its structural integrity should be evaluated; however, this requires considerable time and effort, and this might lead to a decrease in the plant utilization coefficient. To prevent this, KHNP-CRI have established integrity assessment criteria and developed a computer program for the fast evaluation and judgment of PWSCC. In this paper, the results and current status of the same are presented. Through this study, criteria for the structural integrity evaluation of PWSCC have been established, and a computer program has been developed to realize technical means for the evaluation of PWSCC structural integrity.
