전문용어는 전문분야의 개념을 표현하는 언어적 표현이다. 전문용어의 조어단위는 전문용어를 구성하는 최소의 형태적 단위이다. 이러한 조어단위는 전문용어의 의미를 파악하는데 중요할 뿐만 아니라 전문분야 문서에 대한 기계번역과 같은 작업에 중요한 언어자원으로 사용될 수 있다. 하지만‘조어단위와 개념단위의 불일치 문제’, 조어 단위의‘동형이의어’,‘동의이형어’문제 등으로 인하여, 하나의 전문분야 개념을 나타내는 조어단위들의 덩어리를 파악할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점을 조어분석 된 한영 대역 전문용어사전에 대한 한국어-영어 조어단위 정렬문제로 해결하고자 한다. 본 논문의 기법은 97%의 정확률로 조어단위 간의 정렬을 수행하였다.

전문용어 조어법 분석은 기존의 전문용어들의 어휘의 구성과 구조를 파악하여 전문용어 생성의 원리를 밝혀 여러 응용시스템에 이용하기 위한 기초 작업에다. 조어법 정보를 이용한 전문용어 번역 시스템은 조어법 분석 결과의 조어단위 정렬과 색인을 통하여, 새로운 영어 용어에 대한 한국어 대역이 후보 집합을 생성한다. 생성된 후보들은 언어 모델의 정보량의 차이를 이용한 가중치에 의하여 순서화된다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 가중치 방법을 이용하여 조어법 분석 결과에 포함되지 않은 용어들을 대상으로 성능을 평가했을 때, 영-한 조어단위 번역의 n-best 정확률에서 1순위 정확률은 약 61%, 10순위 정확률은 97%의 성능을 보였다.

Terms are linguistic realization of technical concepts. Term constituents are important elements used for representing the concept. Since many new terms are created from the modification or combination of existing constituents, it is important to analyze term constituents for understanding the concept of the term. It means that term constituents offer clues for understanding the concept of terms. However, there are a couple of difficulties in matching concept unit and term constituents such as mismatching between a term constituent and a concept unit, homonym of term constituents and synonym of term constituents. To solve them, it is necessary to recognize concept units of term constituents. In this paper, we define an English term constituent as the concept unit and use an alignment algorithm between English-Korean term constituents in order to recognize concept units of term constituents. By our alignment algorithm we recognize Korean term constituents corresponding to an English term constituent with about $93\%$ precision.

본 연구는 기존에 잘 알려지고 널리 사용되고 있는 어휘 의미망이나 시소러스를 활용하기 어려운 과학 기술 분야, 특히 IT 분야에서 대용량 용어간 관계를 빠른 시간 내에 구축하여 검색 브라우징, 내비게이션 용도로 활용하는 것을 목표로 한다. 시소러스 구축 절차를 따르는 경우에 분야 전문가에 의한 정교한 작업과 고비용을 필요로 하여 충분한 구축 크기를 확보하는 것에 현실적인 어려움이 있다. 시소러스 자동 구축 방법론을 사용하는 경우에도 해당 용어들이 출현하는 방대한 말뭉치를 확보해야 하며 관계 구축 결과에 대한 직관적 이해가 쉽지 않다는 단점이 있다. 본 연구는 해외 학술 논문 말뭉치와 메타데이터에서 획득한 37만 여 주제어들을 이용하여 상 하위 관계, 관련어, 형제 관계를 추출하기 위해 조어적 기준에 근거한 규칙들을 이용한다. 이들 규칙을 이용하여 추출한 관계 수는 상 하위 관계 60여 만 개, 관련어 640여 만 개, 형제 관계 2,000여 만 개 등이다. 또한, 추출 결과 중 일부를 수작업으로 분석하여 단순한 추출 규칙에서 발생하는 오류 유형을 찾아내고 향후 과제에서 해결할 수 있는 방안에 대해 논하자고 한다.

In this knowledge based society, the circulation of knowledge and information is more and more increasing. Terms, as denominations of every specialized concept, has grown in quantity and there are considerable amount of foreign terminology coming to settle down in Korean language. Since terminologies quickly generate and be extinguished, it is important to translate in appropriate way at the very first phase of terminology implementation. This article aims to elaborate the typology of korean terminology translation forms, and propose some guidelines for terminology formation and translation methodology. ISO terminology principle and other institutes' propositions for term formation as well as translational theories constitute two basic columns of the guidelines.

최근 holonic path, holonic management, holonic innovation이라는 용어가 눈에띄게 되었다. holonic, 이 단어는 영어사전을 들쳐도 발견이 쉽지 않다. 그 까닭은 이 단어가 holon이라는 어구에서 유래된 것이며, 영국의 작가이자 과학평론가였던 아터 (Arthur) 게스토가 만든 조어이기 때문이다. Hungary 태생인 Arthur는 Wien 대학공학부 에서 물리학을 공부한후, 영국에 귀화, 4 년전 1982년 부인과 같이 자살을 하여 화제를 일으킨 유명한 소설가이자 과학평론가이다. holon이라는 조어가 처음 사용된 것은 그의 저서<기계속의 유령>에서 인데, 그는 그의 저서에서 holon의 어원을 다음과 같이 설명하고 있다. 이라고. 그래서 holon이라는 단어는 그리스어 <전체>를 뜻하는 holois와 개체 또는 부분을 뜻하는 on을 합성시켜 만든 조어 라는 것이다. 최근의 신어 영어사전을 보면 holon보다 큰 전체의 일부를 구성하는 완전체, 또는 자율적인 존재(실체), 윤곽이 확실한 존재 (물)라고 풀이되고 있다.

지식의 확산과 대중화로 인하여 동일한 개념에 대한 검증되지 않은 용어들이 난립하고 있다. 종전에는 해당 학 회의용어심의위원회, 혹은 전문가 그룹의 합의를 통해서 출판된 전문용어집이 권위를 가지고 전문용어의 사용을 통제하였었다. 그러나 이제는 기존 전문용어집에 수록되지 않은 새로운 개념을 위한신조어의 생성에 있어서 사용자의 자의적인 해석이 빈번해져서 사회적 합의에 도달하지 못한 새로운 전문용어들이 경쟁적으로 사용되는 추세이다. 이러한 현실에 직면하여 국내외적으로 전문용어의 정비 및 표준화 사업은 언어 및 학문 분야의 경계를 넘어 총체적으로 전략적 접근을 시도하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 7가지의 전문용어 표준화 지침을 수립하고, 그에 따라 ISO 2382의 4030개 정보기술용어를 표준화하고자 한다.

As one of the trials for a systematic approach to mathematics terms which occupies an important place in teaching and learning mathematics, compositions of listed terms in 2011 elementary mathematics curriculum in Korea are discussed in this study. To this end, listed terms are classified in view of three points and looked for their characteristics, from which implications are found out for elementary mathematics teaching and learning First of all classifications into grade-group and domain-specific terms, then into newly coined terms and terms from everyday life, and then into korean terms and chinese character terms and english terms are attempted. Next, terms with a kernel and terms without a kernel are distinguished, and in this process, term-sets are presented. Finally, object terms, operation terms, relationship terms, measure terms, conditions terms, graphics terms, name terms are classified. Based on these results, the following implications for elementary mathematics teaching and learning are suggested. First, it should be considered that many of the listed terms in 2011 curriculum are newly coined and chinese character terms. Second, the interconnections between terms should be considered. Third, a variety of roles and functions of the terms should be considered.

This paper deals with the possible problems which may arise when students learn the names of elementary geometric figures in the languages of Korean, Chinese, English. The names of some simple geometric figures in these languages are analyzed, and a specially designed test was administered to some grade eight students from the three language groups to explore the possible influence of the characteristics of the languages on students' capability in identifying the figures, the way students define the figures, and students' understanding of the inclusive relationship among figures. It was found that the usage of the terms to describe geometric figures may indeed have affected students' understanding of the figures. The names of geometric figures borrowed from those of everyday life objects may cause students to fix on some attributes of the objects which may not be consistent with the definition of the figures. Even when the names of the geometric figures depict the features of the figures, the words used in the naming of the figures may still affect students' understanding of the inclusive relations. If there is discrepancy between the definition of a geometric figure and the features that the name depicts, it may affect students' understanding of the definition of the figure, and if there is inconsistency in the classification of figures, it may affect students' understanding of the inclusive relationship involving those figures. Some implications of the study are then discussed.
