A Study on the Meaning of '極' of Cheon-gi[天機] and '克' of In-sa[人事] in the Donguisusebowon(東醫壽世保元) - Focusing on the usage of '明明德' and '新民' in the Daxue - (『동의수세보원(東醫壽世保元)』의 천기(天機)의 '극(極)'과 인사(人事)의 '극(克)'의 의미에 대한 고찰 - 『대학(大學)』의 '명명덕(明明德)', '신민(新民)'의 용례(用例)를 중심으로 -)

  • Objectives : To examine the meaning of 'geuk(極)' and 'geuk(克)' of Cheon-gi and Insa respectively, for better translation of the contents and to understand the structure of the Donguisusebowon cosmology. Methods : The meanings of the characters '極' and '克' based on examples in the Daxue were examined together with content-related books such as the Shujing and the Shijing. Related concepts such as Taiji and Huangji were investigated as well. Results & Conclusions : Through investigation of the character usages and contexts in the Daxue, the archetypes of the two characters '極' and '克' were discovered. Based on these findings, the characteristics of Cheon-gi and Insa were thoroughly studied, which enabled better understanding of the structure of the world view that has been created by their integration. 'Geuk(極)' refers to Cheon-gi as the open world wherein all beings of different horizons are connected through a common principle. 'Geuk(克)' refers to Insa as an individual world that could be fully established by manifestation of one's moral abilities that lie within everybody. The two worlds integrate with each other, becoming two poles of the world humans belong to, while the human heart, in correspondence to these two worlds, create two poles within themselves, of which one pursues the public world while the other rejects the personal.

  • This discussion looked at how emotional adjectives are connected in the format [[emotional adjective + '-ko(and)'] + emotional adjective]. As a result, it was confirmed that there are quite a few cases in which two or more emotional adjectives are used to express emotions in Korean. This can help Korean learners understand and express the individual lexical meanings of emotional adjectives more clearly by identifying emotional adjectives that are used together with the corresponding configuration. It was believed that it could help Korean language learners express complex emotions or create rich emotional expressions when expressing their emotions in Korean. It is hoped that the examples and frequency of [[emotional adjective+'-ko(and)'+emotional adjective] shown in this discussion will be of some help in teaching and learning Korean emotional vocabulary.

Implications in UNESCO's Concept of 'Cultural Diversity' and Its Application to the 「World Geography」 Subject (유네스코 '문화 다양성' 개념의 함축과 「세계지리」 과목에서의 실천 방안)

  • The concept of 'cultural diversity' has emerged as a key concept and the buzzword of the 21st century's international community in education, science and culture sectors since UNESCO's "World Declaration on Cultural Diversity"(2001). However, the appropriate and correct implementation in educational level and in a subject scale can not be pursued without special understanding of multilateral implications of UNESCO's 'cultural diversity' because the concept of cultural diversity has been distributed to various applications according to individual scholars and institutions before the "World Declaration on Cultural Diversity" was released. The ultimate orientation of 'cultural diversity', the concept presented in "World Declaration on Cultural Diversity" is 'world peace' and 'the coexistence of various cultures of mankind'. In this regard, 'cultural diversity' has special 'educational' meaning to the next generation as well as the current one. Also, it is meaningful to take educational practices on cultural diversity in case of the "World Geography" subject in view of that international society of geographical education came up with "International Declaration of Geographical Education for Cultural Diversity" in the IGU(International Geographical Union) 2000. From this point of view, the author proposes that the 'cultural diversity' concept implies four folds of meanings as an ideology, as a symbol, as a vision, and as a epistemological turn based on the analysis of literatures on 'cultural diversity' of UNESCO, then presents an educational practice centering around the examples and its usage of teaching materials of cultural diversity.

International Comparison Study on Essential Concepts of Science Curriculum: Focus on the United States, Canada, Australia and England (과학과 교육과정의 핵심 개념 국제 비교 -미국, 캐나다, 호주, 영국을 중심으로-)

  • This study aims to find an effective way to present essential science concepts in national science curriculum through international comparisons. Next Generation Science Standard (US), Ontario Science Curriculum (Canada), Australia Science Curriculum, and British/English Science Curriculum were selected for comparison. In science curriculum documents, these countries used terms such as 'Key ideas,' 'Big ideas,' 'Key concepts,' 'Disciplinary core ideas.' and 'Fundamental concepts' to present essential concepts of science. This study reviewed the characteristics of the meaning, the status, and the role of essential concepts country by country. The result shows essential concepts have been used with different meanings and statutes in each case. Furthermore, various roles were performed through essential concepts in order to organize their science curriculum. From these foreign nation's cases, this study proposes several ways to present essential science concepts based on results. First, interdisciplinary integrated concepts were needed to organize an integrated science curriculum. In science curriculum documents of the United States, Canada, Australia and England, two types of terms were used in order to structuralize an integrated science curriculum. Second, essential concepts should include concepts related with function and value as well as scientific knowledge. Third, essential concepts need to be presented in such a way as to show specific contexts. Therefore, selecting appropriate contents and structure are needed to be able to improve the way to present essential concepts in Korea's educational environment.

데이타 코드 생성 지원 전문가 시스템의 설계

  • 정보화 사회에서 대량으로 생산된 데이타 코드들은 일관된 설계 원칙없이 필요할 때마다 만들어 사용함으로써 정보의 중복 저장 및 정보교환에 있어서의 변환 작업등으로 인한 경비의 소요가 상당한 실정이다. 이러한 문제점에 대한 해결책으로 본 논문에서는 데이타코드 설계자가 일관성있게 데이타코드를 생성할 수 있도록 도와주는 데이타 코드 생성 지원 전문가 시스템의 설계에 관하여 연구하였다. 불완전 영역 설계를 위한 지식 획득과 표현에 적합한 전문가 시스템 쉘인 GUESS(Guideline Underlying Expert system Shell)를 설계하였다. GUESS는 전문가 시스템을 설계 지원 도구로 사용하는 사용자에게 기존에 작성된 적절한 설계 용례를 선택의 기준으로 제공하며, 유연성 있는 작업 지침들을 규칙으로 포함하고 있다. GUESS는 Prolog언어를 기반으로 한 추론기관과 설계지침을 포함하는 정적지식, 외부 데이타베이스를 연결한 동적 정보, 설계 세부방법을 담고 있는 부가도구들로 구성된다. GUESS/DCG는 데이타 코드 생성을 지원하기 위하여 데이타 코드의 유형과 선택기준 및 설계원리를 정적지식으로 가지며, 이를 경험적으로 탐색하는 추론 기관 및 사용자인 데이타 코드 설계자와 적절한 대화식 접근을 가능하게 하는 설명부분과 대화 인터페이스를 GUESS를 바탕으로 구현한 것이다. 특히 동적 정보의 적절한 이용과 데이타 코드의 통합된 저장, 일관성 있는 운영을 보장하기 위하여 개발중인 데이타 코드 관리시스템과의 인터페이스 부분을 추가하여 기존에 운영되고 있는 데이타 코드의 참고와 호환성, 확장성을 유지하였다. 이 시스템은 데이타 코드 관리시스템에 일관된 생성 수단을 제공하는것 외에도, 각 기관에서 대량으로 작성되는 데이타 코드를 유지, 보수하는 작업에도 큰 기여를 할 것이다.지의 선택작업이 행해지는 경우에 촛점을 맞추었다. 그리하여 다작업장의 휴리스틱에 의거한 작업순서 결정을 위해 우선 BB의 상한을 구하는 연구를 행했다. 이를 위해 우선 단일작업장에서 야기될 수 있는 모든 상황을 고려한 최적 작업순서 결정규칙을 연구했으며, 이의 증명을 위해 이 규칙에 의거했을 때의 보완작업량이 최소가 된다는 것을 밝혔다. 보완작업 계산의 효율성을 제고하기 위해 과부하(violation)개념을 도입하였으며, 작업유형이 증가된 상황에서도 과부하 개념이 보완작업량을 충분히 반영할 수 있음을 밝혔다. 본 연구에서 제시한 최적 작업순서 규칙에 의거했을 때 야기될 수 있는 여러가지 경우의 과부하를 모두 계산했다. 앞에서 개발된 단일작업량의 최적 작업순서 결정규칙을 이용하여 다작업장의 문제를 실험했다. 이 문제는 규모가 매우 크므로 Branch & Bound를 이용하였으며, 각 가지에서 과부하량이 최적인 경우만을 고려하는 휴리스틱을 택하여 실험자료를 이용하여 여러 회 반복실험을 행했다. 그리고 본 연구의 성과를 측정하기 위해 휴리스틱 기법시 소요되는 평균 CPU time 범위에서, 랜덤 작업순서에 따른 작업할당을 반복실험하여 이중 가장 좋은 해와 비교했다. 그러나 앞으로 다작업장 문제를 다룰 때, 각 작업장 작업순서들의 상관관계를 고려하여 보다 개선된 해를 구하기 위한 연구가 요구된다. 또한, 준비작업비용을 발생시키는 작업장의 작업순서결정에 대해서도 연구를 행하여, 보완작업비용과 준비비용을 고려한 GMMAL 작업순서문제를 해결하기 위한 연구가 수행되어야 할 것이다.로 이루어 져야 할 것이다.태를 보다 효율적으로 증진시킬 수 있는 대안이 마련되어져야 한다고 사료된다.$\ulcorner$순응$\lrcorner$의 범위를 벗어나지 않는다. 그렇기 때문에도

Analysis of the prescription for persons of Taiyin constitution (太陰人 Tae-eum) in the herbal formulas and cases found in classic texts (태음인 처방의 본초 조합 용례 분석 - 중요 고문헌을 중심으로 -)

  • Purpose : This study compares prescriptions in the 1901 edition of the Donguisusebowon (東醫壽世保元) and the 1901 edition of 24 Revised Tae-eum constitution prescriptions (新定太陰人病應用要藥二十四方) (1901PCDT) with medical herbs found in classical texts. This study also examines whether to include patterns which compose medical herbs for the person of Tae-eum constitution (太陰人). Method : The prescriptions for Tae-eum-in in the Shinchukbon and the ingredients of medical herbs of the prescriptions of the Complete Works of Zhang Jingyue (景岳全書), Secret Works of Universal Benefit (廣濟秘笈), Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine (東醫寶鑑), Comprised Edition for Formulas (方藥合編), Protecting Essence for Longevity (壽世保元), Introduction to Medicine (醫學入門), New Book for Saving People (濟衆新編 ENGLISH), and Compendium of Local Medicinals and Formulas (鄕藥集成方) were input into a database. The prescriptions were examined and combinations of medical herbs used to treat the person of Tae-eum constitution were noted. Result : Among the prescriptions for the person of Tae-eum constitution, similar examples of the 17 prescriptions of Kudzu Decoction to Relieve the Muscles (葛根解肌湯), Regulate the Stomach and Coordinate the Purity Decoction (調胃升淸湯), Clear the Heart and Lotus Pip Decoction (淸心蓮子湯), Decoction for Stabilizing Asthma with Ephedra (麻黃定喘湯), Profuse Heat and Sparse Cold Decoction (熱多寒少湯), Decoction for Coordinating Qi with Kudzu (葛根承氣湯), Major Decoction for Coordinating Qi with Kudzu (葛根大承氣湯), Minor Decoction for Coordinating Qi with Kudzu (葛根小承氣湯), Decoction for Dispersing the Exterior with Ephedra (麻黃發表湯), Boost the Lung Essence Decoction (補肺元湯), Major Supplementing Decoction with Deer Antler Velvet (鹿茸大補湯), Boosting Black Essence Pill (拱辰黑元丹), Honeylocust Fruit and Rhubarb Decoction (皂角大黃湯), Kudza and Duckweed Decoction (葛根浮萍湯), Sweet Flag and Polygala Powder (石菖蒲遠志散), Liriopis and Polygala Decoction Powder (麥門冬遠志散), and Cattle Gallstone Formula to Clear the Heart (牛黃淸心元) were found in important ancient literature and Dried Chestnut and Holotrichia Decoction (乾栗蠐螬湯) and Dried Chestnut and Tree of Heaven Root Bark Decoction (乾栗樗根皮湯) are the combination originally set by Lee Jema. Conclusion : Because 70.8% of the prescriptions in 1901PCDT could be found in literature which were pervasive in the period of the Joseon Dynasty (the period of Ming and Qing), it corresponds with Lee Jema's view that medical men in the Song, Yuan, and Ming Dynasties disclosed half of the prescriptions for Tae-eum person by studying these texts more.

A study on vocabularies related to four fundamental rules of arithmetic used in elementary school mathematics (초등학교 수학에서 사용하는 사칙계산 관련 어휘에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, to begin with, it was discussed to gather vocabularies which are expected to be vocabularies related to four fundamental rules of arithmetic and classify them according to kinds and groups, to demarcate vocabularies related to four fundamental rules of arithmetic for using in elementary school mathematics which are associated with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division directly. Next, the basic vocabularies related to four fundamental rules of arithmetic were discussed. At this time, regarding vocabularies related addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as coming from the verb add, subtract, multiply, divide respectively, vocabularies that contains the stem of each verb were considered as the basic vocabularies related to four fundamental rules of arithmetics. Following it, vocabularies which assist the operation and indicate the result of the operation were included, then, vocabularies related to four fundamental rules of arithmetic for using in elementary school mathematics were demarcated and presented according to the following criteria. First, a newly coined verb or derivative using the noun form of a certain verb as a root should not be used. Second, such vocabularies of which examples do not exist or rarely exist in textbooks/workbooks should not be used, even though they are registered in mathematics glossary book published by ministry of education or Korean dictionary published by the national institute of Korean language. Third, vocabularies which are not replaceable and vocabularies which have some didactical reasons for using them should be used.

A semantic investigation on high school mathematics terms in Korea - centered on terms of Chinese characters (고등학교 수학 용어에 대한 의미론적 탐색: 한자 용어를 중심으로)

  • In this paper, some terms of high school mathematics which read Chinese characters phonetically in Hangul are studied semantically. Nowadays, most terms of high school mathematics are terms of Chinese characters given the reading of them in Hangul alphabet. In such terms of Chinese characters, there are many loan-words from daily life and newly coined terms. Some such terms are examined in respect of meaningfulness and rule-ness. The degree of meaningfulness and rule-ness of loan-words from daily life are relative. Students seems familiar to loan-words usually, but it is difficult to know whether students seems to be familiar to loan-words or not. Degree of familiarity to a certain loan-word must be relative. In loan-words, there are such terms whose mathematical meaning is different from daily life meaning. Such terms are strong in rule-ness. Newly coined terms are strong in rule-ness. Students are not familiar to newly coined terms which are not used in daily life and have only mathematical meaning. In coining new terms using Chinese character, unit characters are related directly or indirectly to concept which unit characters want to express. So, It is possible to guess something unit characters want to express by investigating them. According to Vinner(1991), images can be evoked. But in case of reading Chinese characters phonetically in Hangul, it can not be guaranteed for Hangul mathematical terms to evoke images which the original mathematical terms evoked. To solve such problems semantic investigation of mathematical terms has been suggested. Through this process, transplanting images which the original mathematical terms evoked into Hangul terms are planned.

  • Anterior open bite is one in which the teeth in the anterior portion of the maxilla and mandible are vertically apart and lack the overlapping necessary for the incisive function when the mandible is in closed position. Anterior open bite is a result of the interaction of many different etiologic factors including thumb and finger sucking, lip and tongue habits, airway obstruction, skeletal growth abnormalities and its tendency may appear with any type of skeletal patterns, such as Class I, II or III malocclusion types. Though the treatment methods for anterior open bite are various, the conventional FR-4, designed by Rolf Fr$\"{a}$nkel, is known to be effective in treating open bite cases with Class I or II skeletal patterns. It is due to that an incidence of skeletal Class II is high in the Occidentals, and open bite is accompanied by these malocclusion type in many cases. However, an incidence of skeletal Class III is high in the Orientals, and open bite is sometimes accompanied by skeletal Class III in many cases. Although the use of the conventional FR-4 was effective in the treatment of open bite, skeletal Class III would be worsened. So, a modified FR-4(placing the labial bow in the lower, the labial pads in the upper) was designed for the treatment of patients showing skeletal Class III and open bite.

A new meaning of the concept, 'Sijo-samjang(시조삼장)' ('시조삼장'의 새로운 이해)

  • In this paper, I reexamined the word 'Sijo-samjang(시조삼강)' and gave a new meaning of it. In addition, I proposed the new concept of 'Sijo-samjang' which meant the characteristic of a Pyon'ga(편가) in Sijo-chang(시조창). For a long time, 'Sijo-samjang' was regarded as a word which indicated the three sections of a Sijo. It was because of the fixed idea that a Sijo was always composed of a form separated by three parts. Unlike the fixed idea, I found the fact that 'Sijo-samjang' meant singing successively three different Sijos which adapted three different music by reexamining the actual uses of the word in the texts of the days. Thus, I could come to a conclusion that 'Sijo-samjang' was the word indicating a specific music system of a Sijo-chang(singing a Sijo) corresponding to a Pyon'ga of a Gagok(가곡). 'Sijo-samjang' seemed to be molded up while the music of Sijo-chang developed. Usually, a successive singing of the three different Sijos, such as Pyong-sijo(평시조), Chirum-sijo(지름시조), and Sasol-sijo(사설시조), was called 'Sijo-samjang'. However, some of the three could be omitted, and some of it could be substituted by a derived song. This kind of a usual and a derived form seemed to be settled as an important custom of singing a Silo after the 19 century. The main point of the development of music in Sijo-chang was having the characteristic of compilation which meant singing Pyong-sijo, Chirum-sijo, and Sasol-sijo successively. 'Sijo-samjang' was the concept which explained this kind of characteristic and was one of the key words to understand the development of Sijo-chang.
