Numerical study on the effect of the PET bottle thickness difference for blow molding process conditions (블로우 성형 공정 변수가 PET 용기의 두께 편차에 미치는 영향에 관한 수치해석 연구)

  • This study presents the blow molding of injection stretch-blow molding process for PET bottle. The numerical analysis of the blow molding of PET bottle is considered in this paper using CAE with a view to minimize the thickness difference. In order to determine the design parameters and processing conditions in blow molding, it is very important to establish the numerical model with physical phenomenon. In this study, a shell model with thickness has been introduced for the purpose and blow simulations with 3-type blow process condition are carried out. The simulations resulted in the thickness distribution in good agreement with the physical phenomenon. Also, from the result of numerical analysis, we appropriately predicted the thickness distribution along the PET bottle wall and Using the result of numerical analysis we apply the preform design and blow molding process condition for optimization.

  • The fuel storage vessel installed in CNG vehicles can be largely divided into 3 parts: head, cylinder, and dome. Studies of the cylinder and dome parts have already been performed, but sufficient design data is not available about the head part. Therefore, expert field engineers heavily depend upon trial-and-error methods. Therefore, FE analysis is performed to review the hot spinning process for forming the head part of the CNG vessel using the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method. The effects of forming factors on the load were analyzed. The values of the factors were chosen to avoid defects in the head part and buckling, and the forming feasibility of the head part was investigated. Furthermore, a bursting test was performed to evaluate the safety of the storage vessel.

  • 본 연구에서는 사다리꼴 용기의 성형성을 여러종류의 블랭크를 사용하여 실험하였으며, 소재의 두께 및 유동현상을 성형성의 평가와 블랭크의 크기결정을 위해서 측정하였다. 이러한 결과 성형품의 파단위치는 단변부의 코너임을 확인하였고, 전단영역에 인접한 직변부 부근의 플랜지 가장자리가 두꺼워지는 것을 알 수 있었으며, 코너컷은 코너에 인접한 2개의 전단영역의 가장자리를 연결하는 선과 평행하게 하는 것이 좋다는 결과를 얻었다.

  • The molding characteristics, hardness and overall quality of the Korean style disposible food tray made from the low and medium density polystyene sheets were investigated and the results were obtained as follows. The volume difference of 8 sectional trays was 56.4% between the two materials, and that of 5 sectional trays was 41.8%. The more the sectional number of the tray, the larger the volume difference. Medium density polystylene tray had the better solid characteristics and overall acceptance than the low density polystlene tray.

In this study, a three dimensional model has been introduced for the purpose and flow simulations of filling, post-filling and cooling process are carried out. The simulations resulted in the warpage in good agreement with the measurements. Also, from the result of numerical analysis, we appropriately predicted the warpage, deformation and thickness distribution along the product walls.

  • Recently, hydrogen energy has been in the spotlight as an alternative to diminishing fossil fuels and as a potential solution to environmental pollution. The development of hydrogen-fueled vehicles and the demands for improved fuel efficiencies have resulted in the need to increase the volume of the hydrogen pressure vessels. Pressure vessels having an elliptical bottom, as opposed to one that is hemispherical, allow for a greater capacity. However, there are insufficient studies on the feasibility of the forming process required for an elliptical bottom. In this study, the liner capacity is calculated according to the ratios of the major to the minor axes of the elliptical bottom part in a hydrogen pressure vessel. Structural safety is verified through finite element analyses, and the results are compared to the theoretical results. The feasibility of the proposed elliptical shape of the pressure vessel bottom, while filled to maximum capacity, is validated through forming analysis.

  • 본 논문에서는 다양한 곡률반경의 연속에 의하여 살 두께 차가 큰 사출성형품에 불균일한 수축으로 인한 변형이 생성되어 이를 방지하기 위한 적정 CAE 냉각설계를 수행하였다. SAN 및 PMMA 재질의 Jar용기에 대한 균일냉각구조와 최적성형조건을 금형설계에 적용하고자 사출성형의 중요인자인 사출압력, 수지온도, 금형온도, 냉각조건 등을 moldflow 프로그램을 활용하여 연구를 수행하였다. 연구결과로서, 적정 변수인 사출압력 상승, 수지온도 낮춤, 급속냉각으로 후로우 등의 불량현상을 분석하였고 변형 및 불량을 극소화시킬 수 있는 냉각구조와 사이클 시간을 단축시킬 수 있는 사출성형조건을 제시하였고 적정 냉각모듈로부터 냉각시간을 단축하였다.
