Urban spatial structure change detection in land cover map using time-series patch mapping (시계열 패치 매핑을 이용한 토지피복도의 도시공간구조 변화 검출)

  • In this paper, we propose a system to detect spatial structures in land cover maps and to detect time-series spatial structure changes. At first, the proposed system detects patches in a certain area at different times and calculates their measures to analyse spatial structure patterns of the area. Then the system conducts patch mapping among the detected time-series patches and decides 6 types of patch changes such as keeping, creating, disappearing, splitting, merging, and changing in a mixed way. Also, the system stores the patch-based spatial structure patterns of time-series land cover maps in binary form to extract changes. This demonstrated that the proposed change detection system can be used as a basis for planning the reconstruction of the urban spatial structure by measuring the degree of urban sprawl.

Effect of Bandwidth of Moving Average Filter on Symbol Timing Detection Performance (이동 평균 필터의 대역폭이 심벌 타이밍 검출 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • In the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system, the prefix inserted between data symbols should be eliminated to apply the Fourier transform on the valid symbol interval. This functional procedure should be based on the accurate symbol timing detection. The symbol timing detection at the receiver side provides the reference for determining the beginning time index of each symbol whose initial point is located at the boundary between the preamble and the payload part. Also, the detection error is one of the main factors in the overall system performance. In this paper the effect of the bandwidth of the moving average filter on the symbol timing detection is discussed. Simulations are carried out to analyze the detection performance for the varying values of the window size of the moving average filter which is related to the filter bandwidth.

  • Understanding the relation between characteristics of an accident and its duration is crucial for the efficient response of accidents and the reduction of total delay caused by accidents. Thus the objective of this study is to model accident duration using an AFT metric model. Although the log-logistic and log-normal AFT models were selected based on the previous studies and statistical theory, the log-logistic model was better fitted. Since the AFT model is commonly used for the purpose of prediction, the estimated model can be also used for the prediction of duration on freeways as soon as the base accident information is reported. Therefore, the predicted information will be directly useful to make some decisions regarding the resources needed to clear accident and dispatch crews as well as will lead to less traffic congestion and much saving the injured.

  • This paper introduce a quiz game contents based on gesture interface. We analyzed the off-line quiz games, extracted its presiding components, and digitalized them so that the proposed game contents is able to substitute for the off-line quiz games. We used the Kinect camera to obtain the depth images and performed the preprocessing including vertical human segmentation, head detection and tracking and hand detection, and gesture recognition for hand-up, hand vertical movement, fist shape, pass and fist-and-attraction. Especially, we defined the interface gestures designed as a metaphor for natural gestures in real world so that users are able to feel abstract concept of movement, selection and confirmation tangibly. Compared to our previous work, we added the card compensation process for completeness, improved the vertical hand movement and the fist shape recognition methods for the example selection and presented an organized test to measure the recognition performance. The implemented quiz application program was tested in real time and showed very satisfactory gesture recognition results.

  • A key factor in the study of hybrid vehicle is to enhance the usability of energy. The paper introduces the monitor and controlling technology of hybrid vehicle that can process the relevant information considering the structure of power system and driving strategies simultaneously, and can monitor its results. This technology, so called HEV algorithm analysis, has been applied to PRIUS THS made by Toyota Co. LTD. This model is adapted to parallel hybrid type. It has a somewhat comlex structure, but has several merits. It's energy loss is lower when conversing. and also it is easily applied to the conventional vehicle having a gasoline engine without any overall changing of its structure, and so on. This monitor and controlling technology is very useful to study on the various driving strategies of hybrid vehicle for maximizing the usability between engine and electric motor.

Depth Map Correction Algorithm based on Segmentation in Multi-view Systems (다중시점 환경에서의 슈퍼픽셀 세그먼테이션 기반 깊이 영상 개선 알고리즘)

  • In immersive media, the most important factor that provides immersion is depth information. Therefore, it is essential to obtain high quality depth information in order to produce high quality immersive media. In this paper we propose an algorithm to improve depth map, considering the segmentation of images and the relationship between multiple views in multi-view systems. The proposed algorithm uses a super-pixel segmentation technique to divide the depth map of the reference view into several segments, and project each segment into adjacent view. Subsequently, the depth map of the adjacent view is improved using plane estimation using the information of the projected segment, and then reversed to the reference view. This process is repeated for several adjacent views to improve the reference depth map by updating the values of the improved adjacent views and the initial depth map of the reference view. Through simulation, the proposed algorithm is shown to surpass the conventional algorithm subjectively and objectively.

  • Recently, various prototypes for electronic commerce are realized and its related researches are active under the present condition which it is increasing for the reality of its extended applications. First of all, actual demands are increasing for more secure and efficient electronic payment systems. Electronic cash, one of the Electronic payment systems, must have several properties like real money. Blind signature scheme by D. Chaum stands for the methods of obtaining privacy. In this paper, we propose a method for obtaining the blind signature based on the Elliptic Curve Cryptosystems, where the crytosystems are known as solving some problems of conventional crytosystems in views of computation time and key space. Also, we present a method for the divisibility of the electronic cash using our proposal by re-signing spare cash. Thus applying the proposed method, we can develop an efficient electronic payment systems.

A Method of Hand Recognition for Virtual Hand Control of Virtual Reality Game Environment (가상 현실 게임 환경에서의 가상 손 제어를 위한 사용자 손 인식 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a control method of virtual hand by the recognition of a user's hand in the virtual reality game environment. We display virtual hand on the game screen after getting the information of the user's hand movement and the direction thru input images by camera. We can utilize the movement of a user's hand as an input interface for virtual hand to select and move the object. As a hand recognition method based on the vision technology, the proposed method transforms input image from RGB color space to HSV color space, then segments the hand area using double threshold of H, S value and connected component analysis. Next, The center of gravity of the hand area can be calculated by 0 and 1 moment implementation of the segmented area. Since the center of gravity is positioned onto the center of the hand, the further apart pixels from the center of the gravity among the pixels in the segmented image can be recognized as fingertips. Finally, the axis of the hand is obtained as the vector of the center of gravity and the fingertips. In order to increase recognition stability and performance the method using a history buffer and a bounding box is also shown. The experiments on various input images show that our hand recognition method provides high level of accuracy and relatively fast stable results.

Effect of Light Transmission on Composition and Somatic Cell count of Raw Milk (분광된 빛의 주사가 원유내 성분에 미치는 영향)

  • Measurement of compositions and somatic cells in raw milk by chemical methods usually requires a lot of time, skilled labor and expensive analytical equipments. Recently, near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS), which is a rapid, cost-effective and non-destructive technique, has been extensively used for safety and quality evaluation in the field of dairy products. However, less study has been performed to evaluate the effect of transmitted light on milk quality during NIRS analysis. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the changes in milk quality using transmitted light. Raw milk samples collected from dairy farm from Siga prefecture in Japan were analyzed for fat, protein, lactose, solids not fat, total solids, milk urea and citric acid using the Milko scan 4000. Somatic cells in raw milk samples were counted by the Fossomatic 5000. Transmittance spectra of 50 ml raw milk samples were obtained by the Lax-Cute lighter in the 400 nm or less, 689 nm, 773 nm, 900 nm and 979 nm. As a result, milk fat as well as somatic cell count was increased by 2.6% and 9.0%, respectively. The other compositions were, however, changed within the relative error of the measurement. Further studies are needed to apply raw milk quality evaluation using the UV band by accumulating more samples and more data.

Further Improvement of Direct Solution-based FETI Algorithm (직접해법 기반의 FETI 알고리즘의 개선)

  • This paper presents an improved computational framework for the direct-solution-based finite element tearing and interconnecting (FETI) algorithm. The FETI-local algorithm is further improved herein, and localized Lagrange multipliers are used to define the interface among its subdomains. Selective inverse entry computation, using a property of the Boolean matrix, is employed for the computation of the subdomain interface stiffness and load, in which the original FETI-local algorithm requires a full matrix inverse computation of a high computational cost. In the global interface computation step, the original serial computation is replaced by a parallel multi-frontal method. The performance of the improved FETI-local algorithm was evaluated using a numerical example with 64 million degrees of freedom (DOFs). The computational time was reduced by up to 97.8% compared to that of the original algorithm. In addition, further stable and improved scalability was obtained in terms of a speed-up indicator. Furthermore, a performance comparison was conducted to evaluate the differences between the proposed algorithm and commercial software ANSYS using a large-scale computation with 432 million DOFs. Although ANSYS is superior in terms of computational time, the proposed algorithm has an advantage in terms of the speed-up increase per processor increase.
