The purpose of this study was to examine how a therapeutic drumming intervention would impact middle school students with regard to school violence prevention. Participants were all in the third-year class of a middle school in Korea. A school music teacher and a music therapist designed and implemented the program collaboratively, and mainly used dyadic, synchronized, and improvisational drumming based on the Social Emotional Learning core competencies. A total of 65 students participated in a weekly 45-minute program for 10 weeks. Ten participants out of 65 were selected for interviews and the rest of the 55 participants were asked to fill out an open-ended survey. Content analysis of the survey and interviews produced 492 meaningful statements, which were categorized into seven themes: somatic responses to drumming, emotional processing, group cohesion, empathy, relationship with peers, self-esteem, and self-regulation. The findings indicated that dyadic, synchronized, and improvisational drumming may promote prosocial behaviors in students of this age. The author discussed that drumming produces physical input directly from the instruments, which prompts students to identify and empathize with their own or others' emotions. This study therefore suggests that collaborative work between school music teachers and music therapists may positively impact middle school students' prosocial behaviors, as they pertain to school violence in Korea.
Original play of theatrical troupe Yeonwoo Stage has gone through history represented by (i) the development period of "research on play," (ii) the resistance/growth period of "play movement," (iii) the prime/segmentation period of "metaphor for reality," (iv) the crisis/transition period of "rediscovery of reality," and (v) the challenge/advancement period of the "active development of repertoire." "Collective creation" based on the singe-representative system was a solution to overcome difficult circumstances, crisis facing the theatrical troupe and the lack of resources in the development period and the resistance/growth period, "co-creation" based on the five-representative system, the two-representative system, the system of an operation committee consisting five members, etc. in the prime/segmentation period and the crisis/transition period, and "planning and production" based on the single-producer system in the challenge/advancement period. "Collective creation" system was operated by the entire theatrical troupe, which was led by a director; "co-creation" system was operated by performers, who were directed by a director (-playwriter); and "planning and production" system was operated both internally and externally and was led by a producer. During its long history of developing original play, Yeonwoo Stage has (i) expanded the scope of Korean-style narrative, (ii) succeeded collective creation culture to the next generation, (iii) followed the trend of the times, (iv) attempted to attract popular empathy.

According to international regulations, it is mandatory for navigators or engineers to acquire suitable skillsets before their designation as a duty officer on board. One of the most important elements is Maritime English (ME), wherein students are taught a required set of basic skills that enable them to process various documents related to accidents, ship conditions, and inspections. Students have to be equipped not only with the use of general English skills but also with the coherent use of technical terms and phrases. However, due to the unique circumstances that exist in the maritime domain, the methods used for imparting maritime knowledge and the manner in which it is evaluated are restricted. Hence, this study aims to utilize an online Maritime English learning and testing platform that can be accessed on smart devices to analyze its impact on the students' learning process. An experiment was conducted on two groups of cadets, one that used the platform and another group that did not. After six-week, the experiment results showed a significant difference between the ME test scores of the two groups. The test scores were further analyzed by incorporating the students' personal elements to measure the ef icacy of the ME test platform. Therefore, the learning and evaluation processes are expected to be implemented in ways that are appropriate and convenient to specific circumstances and be widely used in the field of maritime education in the future.
This study suggests internal and external virtuous behavior in organization influenced employees' organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), organizational loyalty and emotional exhaustion through mediated effect of affective commitment and collective self-esteem. Virtue in organization has received attention as critical attribute of positive organizational scholarship. Cameron(2003) defined the study of virtue as a study of the capacity, attributes, and reserve in organization that facilitates the expression of positive deviance among organization member. Accordingly, this study presumed that virtuous behaviors within organization positively associate with OCB, and organizational loyalty through affective commitment whereas the virtuous behaviors negatively influence emotional exhaustion. On the other hand, we assumed that external virtuous behaviors positively associate with OCB and organizational loyalty and negatively associate with emotional exhaustion individually. In study 1, we conducted interview with Korean employees created items for internal and external virtue, and implemented empirical study for 253 employees of domestic companies in study 2. This study contributes to the empirical investigation on how internal virtue (i.e. the employees' virtue for their organization) and external virtue (i.e. the organization's virtue for society), used as independent variables, influence employees' organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), organizational loyalty and emotional exhaustion after creating items for the two virtuous behaviors through qualitative research.
The objective of the present study was to develop a thanksgiving program for high grade elementary students' anger control and analyze its effects. For this purpose, we set research question 'Does a thanksgiving program have an effect on children's anger control?' and applied a 10 session thanksgiving program to 30 fifth graders in a class, for which the present research was the class teacher, at K Elementary School. A thanksgiving program is a group counseling program that induces the participants to think what a thankful mind is, to find things to thank for around, and to express thanks through specific actions. This study was conducted in a way different from previous research that obtains data from a control group who do not participate in the program and an experimental group who participate in the program In this study, the effect of the program was analyzed according to the level of participation in the experiment. For this, the children were divided into two groups using coupons after the application of the program, and the effect of the thanksgiving program was examined through comparative analysis between the groups and within each group using data obtained from a pretest and a posttest with an anger scale. According to the results, significant changes caused by the positive effect of thanksgiving were observed in the five areas of anger, which are state anger, trait anger, anger repression, anger expression and anger control. That is, the thanksgiving program developed using thanks was found effective in elementary children's anger control. This conclusion is consistent with the reports by Rho Ji hye (2005), Kwon Sean jung et al. (2006), and Kim Dong hee (2008) that a thanksgiving program based on the emotion of thanks can control the emotion of anger.
Pinus pumila, which occurs in the northeast Asia, is found limitedly in Daecheongbong area of Mt. Seorak in the South Korea. This population was chosen to study spatial pattern, genetic diversity and spatial genetic structure. There were 48 polymorphic and 30 monomorphic I-SSR markers. A total of 65 individuals which distributed in the study site (40 m ${\times}$ 70 m) showed weakly aggregate distribution (Aggregate Index = 0.871). A total of 40 genets were observed from 65 individuals through I-SSR genotype comparison. Proportion of distinguishable genotype (G/N), genotype diversity (D) and genotype evenness (E) were 61.5%, 0.977 and 0.909, respectively. In spite of the small number and the limited distribution, Shannon's diversity index (I = 0.567) was relatively high as compared with those of other plant species. Spatial autocorrelation using Tanimoto's distance showed that the genetic patch was established within 12 m. Based on Mantel tests, there was relatively low correlation between genetic distance and geographic distance. Therefore, it seems the P. pumila population was formed by many parent trees in early stage. For ex situ genetic conservation of P. pumila, the sampling strategy is efficient at least above 12 m between individual trees.
This study describes analysis of genetic diversity and spatial genetic structure of Korean poplar (Populus koreana Rehder) in Mt. Odae using I-SSR markers. P. koreana is a deciduous broad-leaved tree species that primarily grows in the alpine valleys of China, Russia and North Korea. In South Korea, P. koreana is found limitedly in Gangwon province. Especially, the population in Mt. Odae is located on the southern limit line, its importance is emphasized from the genetic resource conservation perspective. The Shannon's diversity (I=0.230) and the expected heterozygosity (He=0.151) were relatively low as compared with those of other plant species. Spatial autocorrelation analysis using Tanimoto's distance showed that the genetic patch was founded within 400 m. It is suggested that individual trees for ex situ conservation should be sampled with a minimum distance of 400 m between trees.
This study aims to develop well-being enhancement program for the female elderly living alone, and examine its effects. The program was structured by exploring the meaning of life and happiness with focused on self-disclosure, dealing with regret and resentment, forgiveness, gratitude, and resilience. At first, pilot program was applied to 6 female elderly living alone for predicting the effects and modified the program. For verification of the program effect, 11 female elderly living alone were assigned to developed well-being enhancement program, also 11 female elderly living alone were assigned to comparison group who participate in activity-focused program, and 12 female elderly living alone were assigned to control group. Results indicated that regret for interpersonal relations and resentment of the female elderly living alone who participate in well-being enhancement program were reduced after participating the program, while their self-disclosure increased. The female elderly living alone who participate in well-being enhancement program showed lowered level of anxiety, loneliness, and awareness of aging, which were factors of well-bing in senescence. Moreover, their level of negative emotion was decreased, and life satisfaction, positive emotion, and happiness were increased after participating the program. But, all of those enhancement were not found in control group as well as comparison group. These results suggest that well-being enhancement program for the female elderly living alone developed in this study could be utilized in various settings.

Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is a major public health problem in Korea. The survival rate to discharge remains at approximately 3.5% and only 1% have good neurological function. To increase the survival rate, prehospital care should restore spontaneous circulation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors associated with return of spontaneous circulation(ROSC) after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Data used for this study were collected from KCDC Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Surveillance 2009. As for the results of decision tree analysis, it is clear that prehospital CPR, cardiac arrest witness, activity, past history(cancer/heart disease/stroke), place, bystander CPR, response time, age, etc are significant contributing factors in ROSC. Among 16 cardiac arrest types from decision tree classification, the ROSC rate of type 1 is the highest(29.6%). Also notable is the fact that bystander CPR was strongly correlated with ROSC of patents with cardiac arrest occurring in non-public places. Community resources should be concentrated on increasing bystander CPR and early prehospital emergency care.
In this research, based on the fact that spatial ability is important for the achievement in the STEM fields, and technological innovation, Purdue Spatial Visualization Test-Rotation has been used to investigate engineering freshmen's spatial ability and gender differences. Students who have taken advanced mathematics courses in high school(those who have taken type B math test in Korean SAT test) and students with general math courses(those who have taken type A in Korean SAT-Math test) are included in this study to find out the relationship between mathematics achievement and spatial ability. Finding out the strategies taken by students was another aim of this study. This strategic differences between high achievers and lower achievers, male and female students were analyzed from students' self report. Spatial ability test score was highest in the SAT-Math type B male students, decreased in the order of type A male students, type B female students, and lastly type A female students. There was no substantial difference between second and third groups. In each group, male students' average score was 8~10% higher than female students, which affirms 2015's results. The correlation between spatial ability and mathematics achievement was negligible in each group, but male students' math score and spatial ability score were higher than that of female students. This can be interpreted that there is some correlation between these two. Strategic choices can vary in the continuous spectrum with analytic method and holistic method at both ends. From students' self report, using Mann-Witney test, it turned out that there exists strategic differences between male and female students. Male students have a tendency to use holistic strategy more often than female students. I also found that the strategy choice did not vary greatly among all score groups. For the perfect score groups, both female and male students used holistic strategy most frequently. For low achieving groups, there is an evidence that these students overuse one method compared to average or high achieving groups, which turned out to be less effective. Based on these, I suggest that low achieving students need to have more chances to adopt efficient strategies and to practice challenging problems to improve their spatial abilities.
