  • Purpose: This study examined self-efficacy, self-care behavior, posttraumatic growth, and quality of life in cancer patients and their levels by disease characteristics groups to identify patient groups that require psychosocial intervention. Methods: We surveyed 107 patients using a structured questionnaire about the four factors and analyzed the factors by stratifying the patients by the period after the cancer diagnosis, by stage and by current treatment status. Results: The mean score for self-efficacy was 37.78, and that for self-care behavior 49.96. Patients who were diagnosed less than one year ago scored higher on medication, a sub-category of self-care behavior, than the post-diagnosis period of 1~2 year group. The score was higher in the currently-treated group than the follow-up and distant metastasis groups. For posttraumatic growth, the mean was 56.17, and the factor was higher in the 1~2 year post-diagnosis group after than the less than one year group. The score was higher in the follow-up group than the currently-treated group. With regard to quality of life, the mean score was 25.79, and no significant correlation was found with disease characteristics. Conclusion: A shorter post-diagnosis period increased self-care behavior, and the greatest posttraumatic growth was reported by the 1~2 year post-diagnosis group. It may be necessary to provide cancer patients with an education program and other strategies less than one year after the diagnosis to improve self-efficacy and self-care behavior. To promote post-traumatic growth, it may be helpful to provide patients with psychosocial intervention within two years after the diagnosis.

  • This study aimed to understand the meaning and essence of trauma accidents that North Korean Defectors experienced while escaping from North Korea. We approached with phenomenological method, and the study targets were 7 North Korean Defectors who underwent trauma such as torture, fear, violence, starvation and disease in the course of escaping from North Korea. As a result, we found that the trauma of participants is linked to the present after years while categorizing 6 theme clusters into 'struggle in the border of life and death', and 'difference between being left alive and living'. The image and memory imprinted in the mind of participants from the trauma accident has continued for years and is related with their daily life in South Korea. In this study, we could realize that some elements which had been thought to be negative features of North Korean Defectors are unavoidable extraordinary nature of people who experienced trauma.

예를 들면 who_server(), who_queue(), pop_Q(), push_Q(), pop_server(), push_server(), we(), wf(), printfct() 같은 함수들이다.

  • This is an investigative study to identify the degree of post-traumatic stress and anxiety of nurses in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to analyze the relationship with the nurse's belief in behavior and control that affects nursing intentions to determine their impact on the belief in behavior. The subjects of this study were nurses with experience of directly nursing COVID-19 patients at medical institutions located in Gyeonggi-do. The SPSS 22.0 version was used for the descriptive analysis, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression. Post-traumatic stress of the participants in this study was found to be 24.20±20.58, anxiety 48.31±6.61, behavior beliefs -1.00±17.12, and control beliefs 3.41±11.66. According to this study, the belief in conduct is negatively correlated with post-traumatic stress (r=-4.71, p<).001) and showed a significant negative correlation with anxiety (r=-2.248, p<.05). There was no significant correlation with control beliefs (p>.05). Based on the results of this study, it is proposed to develop an appropriate psychological arbitration program for mediating post-traumatic stress in order to promote the nurse's behavior beliefs.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influencing factors on Posttraumatic Growth(PTG) in patients with colorectal cancer. Methods: Eighty patients who were diagnosed with colorectal cancer at least twelve months ago were recruited from the oncology outpatient clinic of university hospital in Y city. Participants completed four survey questionnaires: Korean versions of PTG Index, Korean versions of Cancer Coping Questionnaire, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, and a Resilience Scale. The data were analyzed by ANOVA, Pearson-correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The mean score of PTG in these patients was 51.16 indicating relatively high growth. Posttraumatic Growth had significant correlations with coping, social support, and resiliency. In addition to the variables of age and education that are found to be associated with the PTG, the PTG was significantly influenced by resilience, coping, and importance of religion. Forty-nine percent of the variations in the PTG were explained by these three variables. Conclusion: The identified factors influencing colorectal cancer related to PTG could be considered in developing nursing interventions to promote positive psychological changes in response to adversity which colorectal cancer survivors might experience.

  • Purpose: This study examined the socio-demographic factors, the disaster related factors, the physical health related factors and the psychological factors of older adults exposed to natural disaster and these factors may possibly cause the occurrence of PTSD. Methods: A cross-sectional study was designed using the secondary data from the 3rd Disaster Victims Panel Survey (2012-2017). The data from 1,397 disaster victims were analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis. Results: Compared with the younger adult disaster victims, the elderly were more likely to have symptoms of PTSD (15.0% vs. 12.1%). Factors such as the number of years since being exposed to the disaster, anxiety, depression and social adjustment were significantly associated with occurrence of PTSD for both older and younger adults. Female gender was the additional risk factors for the older adults, while marital status, income, having witnessed another person's injury or death, and having lost a home were associated with the occurrence of PTSD. Conclusion: The elderly were more likely to develop PTSD as compared with younger adults. More targeted post-disaster mental health services to the elderly with the symptoms of depressive, anxiety and impaired social adjustments, should be provided to improve their mental health.
