Since China opened its market to foreign investors, overseas Chinese firms have been the biggest foreign investors. Because of the uncertain market environment, other foreign finns incurred larger liabilities of foreignness than overseas Chinese finns. Some parts of liabilities of foreignness stem from cultural differences and last for quite long time. Therefore better understanding of Chinese culture and guanxi network can give overseas Chinese finns competitive advantages over those from other countries by offering market information and reducing transaction costs. Also better management skills, information about export markets and abundant capital allow them to maintain competitive strengths over local firms. As foreign firms accumulate market knowledge in China, they can reduce liabilities of foreignness. However, it is very difficult for foreigners to understand Chinese cultures and to utilize guanxi network as well as Chinese. It is likely that Overseas Chines firms can have competitive strengths in some industries such as banking, retailing, and foreign trade, where relationship with local contractors and exploitation of worldwide Chines networks can play important roles to make successful business deals.

This paper examines the impact of corporate governance structure on the cost of debt. Total sample is divided into the small sample, the medium sample and the large sample of equity concentration, based on the equity ownership of large shareholders. Our regression results show that foreign investors are not associated with the cost of debt in the small and medium samples of equity ownership, whereas foreign investors are significantly associated with the reduction in the cost of debt in the large sample of equity concentration. Academic implications of our findings are that as the ownership of dominating shareholders rises, they seek their private interests of perks causing an increase in agency costs and a decrease in firm's economic value, thus expanding borrowing costs. Practical business implications are that foreign investors may alleviate agency problem of dominating large shareholders in the firm through monitoring activities, thus enhancing the efficiency of business decision-makings.

This paper investigates the impact of corporate governance structure on the firm's debt costs under different governance environments. We find that after the 2008 banking crisis, family firms with controlling shareholders benefit from lower debt cost through the strong control rights of dominating large shareholders, compared with the firms with diversified minority-shareholders. Foreign investors are related statistically to the higher cost of debt. Before the 2008 banking crisis, cash flows and growth potentials are positively associated with the firm's cost of debt.

최장 3년 동안 내국인과 동일한 수준의 대우를 외국인 근로자에게 보장하는 '외국인근로자의고용등에관한법률'안이 지난 7월 31일 임시국회 본 회의에서 통과됐다. 이에 따라 지난 10년 동안 이주근로자 인권문제와 국내 인력과의 동일 대우에 따른 경영비용의 증가 논란도 마침표를 찍게 됐으며, 불법으로 외국인 근로자를 고용하며 가슴을 졸이면서 산업연수생 제도의 변두리를 맴돌던 사업주들은 합법적으로 외국인 근로자를 고용할 수 있는 틀이 마련됐다.

증권시장 유동성 문제에 대해서는 학계뿐만 아니라, 투자자, 감독기관 및 시장관계자들의 관심도 크다. 최근의 금융 위기는 금융시장의 유동성이 급격히 감소할 경우 경제적으로 막대한 비용을 치르게 될 수 있음을 일깨워주고 있다. 국내에서도 증권시장의 유동성에 관한 연구는 발표되고 있으나 외국인 투자 행태가 증권시장 유동성에 큰 영향을 미칠 것임을 널리 인식하고 있음에도 불구하고 외국인 투자자와 우리나라 증권시장의 유동성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 체계적인 연구는 드문 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 유동성 개념에 내포된 시장의 깊이(depth), 시장의 폭(breadth), 가격탄력성(resiliency) 등을 반영하는 다양한 유동성 지표를 설정하고 Panel-VAR 모형에 근거한 충격반응함수를 이용하여 외국인투자행태가 이들 지표에 미치는 영향의 동학적 특성을 분석하였다. 실증분석 결과에 의하면 외국인투자 증가는 주식시장 유동성에 영향을 미치고 있음을 외국인 투자 비중이 높은 주식들 그룹과 이와 유사한 특성을 가진 주식들 그룹의 비교를 통해서 확인할 수 있었다.

This study aimed at analyzing and understanding medical tourism patients' pattern of different countries. For this purpose it followed up the international patients who visited W hospitals for spine treatment for last 3 years. In additon, it proposed key marketing strategies for attraction of more patients in the future. Satisfaction survey for 91 foreigner hospitalized patients were conducted from year 2010 to 2011. Each country of the patients showed slightly different motivations of visiting, consumer pattern and satisfaction of medical and non medical services. The current study analyzed factors, socio-demographic characteristics, purposes of visit, duration of stay in Korea, total number of visits to Korea, companions, plan of care, reasons for choice of W Hospital, expenses for medical care, total cost of staying in Korea. The results of this study showed that patients visited Korea more frequently were more satisfied with the medical care. Patients who planned to use medical care prior to visit Korea were more satisfied. Patients who thought he/she paid reasonable medical cost were more satisfied. Invitation to familiarization tour, clarification of medical cost, and provision of high quality medical care were recommended for the higher satisfaction of foreign patients. Fostering of specialized hospitals were recommended.

The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze whether the influence of foreign investors from the monitoring role in Korean capital market is observed differently in accordance with the global financial crisis situation. We collected a total of 2,919 firm data from 2003 to 2015 and performed the empirical tests between foreign investor ownership and firms' cost of equity capital separately according to the situation of the global financial crisis. From the empirical results, foreign investors in general were playing a positive function in the Korean capital market by effectively performing the monitoring role for companies. However, we observed that their monitoring role is not effectively performed when the risk level of capital market is maximized, such as during the global financial crisis. The study suggested that the influence of foreign investors may vary depending on the level of risk in the capital market, which is expected to contribute to the market participants and academia.

새로운 저작권법(著作權法)이 금년 7월(月)부터 시행(施行)됨에 따라 외국인저작물(外國人著作物)을 국내(國內)에서 출판(出版)하기 위하여는 외국저작권자(外國著作權者)에게 저작권(著作權) 사용료(使用料)를 지급(支給)해야 한다. 1984년(年) 현재 번역(飜譯)된 외국인저작물(外國人著作物)의 규모(規模)는 8,255종(種), 금액(金額)으로 약 440억(億)원으로 각각(各各) 전체(全體)의 24.9%와 10.9%에 달한다. 본연구(本硏究)에서는 외국인저작권(外國人著作權) 보호(保護)에 따른 출판물(出版物)의 가격상승(價格上昇)으로 인한 소비자(消費者) 부담(負擔)의 증가(增加)와 저작료(著作料) 지급(支給)으로 인한 외화지출(外貨支出) 부담(負擔)을 분석(分析)하였다. 이를 위하여, 첫째 국내출판산업(國內出版産業)의 현황(現況)을 분석(分析)하여 외국인저작물(外國人著作物)의 무단번역(無斷飜譯) 복사출판물(複寫出版物)의 시장규모(市場規模)를 파악(把握)하고, 둘째 저작물(著作物) 생산비용(生産費用)의 구조(構造)와 유통과정(流通過程)의 파악(把握)을 통하여 저작물(著作物)의 소비자가격(消費者價格) 결정요인(決定要因)을 분석(分析)하고, 세째 이러한 자료(資料)를 활용(活用)하여 외국인저작권(外國人著作權) 보호시(保護時)의 가격상승(價格上昇) 및 외환지출규모(外換支出規模)를 추정(推定)하였다. 분석결과(分析結果)에 의하면 외국인저작권(外國人著作權)의 보호(保護)로 인하여 번역물(飜譯物)과 복사물(複寫物)의 가격(價格)은 각각(各各) 12%와 25% 상승(上昇)하며, 1987~91년(年) 기간 중 외국저작권자(外國著作權者)에게 지급(支給)될 저작료(著作料)의 규모(規模)는 98억(億)원(1,200만(萬)달러)에 달할 것으로 예상(豫想)된다.

The purpose of this paper is to derive an optimal route for foreign tourists in Korea. To that end, the data gained from domestic tourist portal sites was analyzed with a big data analytics tool R. The destinations most visited by inbound foreign tourists, the shortest route and the most economical route were derived from the analysis results. The findings suggest original Korean culture is the factor for successful tourist destinations and relevant products, and will serve as some reference data conducive to planning the tourist products in practice.
