Optimal Design of Passive Gravity Compensation System for Articulated Robots (수직다관절 로봇의 중력보상장치 최적설계)

  • In this paper, the optimal design of a spring-type gravity compensation system for an articulated robot is presented. Sequential quadratic programming (SQP) is adopted to resolve various nonlinear constraints in spring design such as stress, buckling, and fatigue constraints, and to reduce computation time. In addition, continuous relaxation method is used to explain the integer-valued design variables. The simulation results show that the gravity compensation system designed by proposed method improves the performance effectively without additional weight gain in the main workspace.

  • 데이터베이스에서 트랜잭션의 처리량을 향상시키기 위해서 기존의 문법 위주의 직렬성 이론으로는 단위시간당 처리량을 높이기는 힘든 형편이다. 이를 위하여 이타적 잠금 기법(altruistic locking: AL)은 트랜잭션이 객체를 사용한 다음 더 이상 그 객체를 요구하지 않을 때 다른 트랜잭션들이 그 객체를 로크할 수 있도록 미리 객체에 대한 로크를 해제함으로써 트랜잭션들의 대기시간을 줄이고 처리량을 향상시키기 위한 취지에서 제안된 것이다. 확장형 이타적 잠금(extended altruistic locking: XAL)기법은 AL 을 자취의 확장한 것으로 AL 이 근본적으로 안고 있는 반드시 기부된 객체만을 처리해야 한다는 제약을 완화한 기법이다. 본 논문에서는 분산 데이터베이스 환경하에서 장기 트랜잭션으로 인한 단기 트랜잭션의 대기현상을 최소화하도록 함으로써 동시성 제어의 정도를 높일 수 있는 새로운 확장형 이타적 잠금 기법인 양방향 기부기법(two-way donation locking: 2DL)을 제안하고 기존의 제어기법과 비교하였다. 모의실험에 의한 성능평가 결과 2DL 은 작업 처리율과 트랜잭션의 평균 대기시간 면에서 우수한 결과를 나타내었다.

  • This study propose a image processing system of unsupervised analysis. This system integrates low-level segmentation and high-level classification. The segmentation and classification are conducted respectively with and without spatial constraints on merging by a hierarchical clustering procedure. The clustering utilizes the local mutually closest neighbors and multi-window operation of a pyramid-like structure. The proposed system has been evaluated using simulated images and applied for the LANDSATETM+ image collected from Youngin-Nungpyung area on the Korean Peninsula.

  • Naive Bayes (NB, for shortly) learning is more popular, faster and effective supervised learning method to handle the labeled datasets especially in which have some noises, NB learning also has well performance. However, the conditional independent assumption of NB learning imposes some restriction on the property of handling data of real world. Some researchers proposed lots of methods to relax NB assumption, those methods also include attribute weighting, kernel density estimating. In this paper, we propose a novel approach called NB Based on Attribute Weighting in Kernel Density Estimation (NBAWKDE) to improve the NB learning classification ability via combining kernel density estimation and attribute weighting.

  • Sequential convex programming based performance analysis of the designed UAV is performed. The nonlinear optimization problems generated by aerodynamics are approximated to socond order program by discretization and convexification. To improve the performance of the algorithm, the solution of the relaxed problem is used as the initial trajectory. Dive trajectory optimization problem is analyzed through iterative solution procedure of approximated problem. Finally, the maximum final velocity according to the performance of the actuator model was compared.

The Determinants of Working Poor' Poverty-Exit Possibility : Path Dependency of Working Poor Labor Market (근로빈곤층의 빈곤탈출 결정요인 연구 : 근로빈곤노동시장의 경로제약성을 중심으로)

  • This study examines how path dependency of working poor labor market segmented from the primary and the secondary labor market affects employment and quality of employment of working poor. It Further examines how path dependency makes working poor to remain in the labor market and makes it difficult for them to escape from a vicious poverty cycle. Data is based on the $3{\sim}7th$ Korea Labor and Income Panel Study(KLIPS). Markov's transition probability and discrete-time hazard analysis are used for analysis. This study finds that Korea labor market is divided into three parts; the primary labor market, the secondary labor market and the working poor labor market. The proportion of employed poor has been reduced, but the proportion of non economically-active working poor has been increased and has become the main group among the working poor. This shows that labor demand of working poor is fundamentally lacking and there are structural barriers that block working poor's employment itself. The regression analysis shows that the longer working poor labor market participation is, the lower poverty-exit rate. This is an evidence of vicious poverty cycle that the poor have little chance to exit from working poor labor market, once they step into it. Therefore, the longer their participation in poor labor market, the more likely they would move only within the closed working poor labor market. Consequently, it is necessary to fundamentally reform labor market structure and to alleviate negative perception and discrimination about the poor labor while activating labor demand.

The Effects of Financial Cash Flows and Operating Cash Flows on R&D Investment (기업의 재무적 현금흐름과 영업 현금흐름이 R&D 투자에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzes empirically the effects of financial cash flows and operating cash flows on R&D investment of firms listed on Korea Exchange. The main results of this study can be summarized as follows. Financial cash flows have a larger positive effect on R&D investment than operating cash flows do, implying that firms use more financial cash flows than operating cash flows for financing R&D investment that has information asymmetry problems. This results suggest that improving financial cash flows enhance R&D investment by increasing the predictability of cash flows and decreasing the volatility of cash flows by decreasing financial leverage. Financially constrained firms use much more financial cash flows than operating cash flows for financing R&D investment that has information asymmetry problems. Financial constraints are measured by proxy variables such as firm size and Hadlock and Pierce's(2010) HP index. This results suggest that improving financial cash flows is more important than operating cash flows for financing R&D investment of financially constrained firms. Moreover, firms use more financial cash flows for financing asset-counted R&D investment than for financing cost-counted R&D investment. Asset-counted R&D investment is counted in intangible assets on the Statement of Financial Position, whereas cost-counted R&D investment is counted in cost on the Income Statement. In conclusion, even after controlling for adjustment costs associated with R&D investment and the endogeneity problems of cash flow variables as well as other characteristic variables, the results show that financially constrained firms use much more financial cash flows than operating cash flows for financing R&D investment that has information asymmetry problems. Overall, this finding suggests that information asymmetry and financial constraints problems are likely to co-exist in financing R&D investment. This finding also contributes to the extant literature that examines investment-cash flow sensitivity by showing that financial cash flows have a larger effect on R&D investment rather than operating cash flows.

The Road Reservation Scheme in Emergency Situation for Intelligent Transportation Systems (지능형 교통 시스템을 위한 긴급 상황에서의 도로 예약 방식)

  • Transportation has been playing important role in our society by providing for people, freight, and information. However, it cuts its own throat by causing car accidents, traffic congestion, and air pollution. The main cause of these problems is a noticeable growth in the number of vehicles. The easiest way to mitigate these problems is to build new road infrastructures unless resources such as time, money, and space are limited. Therefore, there is a need to manage the existing road infrastructures effectively and safely. In this paper, we propose a road reservation scheme that provides fast and safe response for emergency vehicles using ubiquitous sensor network. Our idea is to allow emergency vehicle to reserve a road on a freeway for arriving to the scene of the accident quickly and safely. We evaluate the performance by three reservation method (No, Hop, and Full) to show that emergency vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, or police cars can rapidly and safely reach their destination. Simulation results show that the average speed of road reservation is about 1.09 ~ 1.20 times faster than that of non-reservation at various flow rates. However, road reservation should consider the speed of the emergency vehicle and the road density of the emergency vehicle processing direction, as a result of Hop Reservation and Full Reservation performance comparison analysis. We confirm that road reservation can guarantee safe driving of emergency vehicles without reducing their speed and help to mitigate traffic congestion.

The Locational Characteristics and Viabilities of Chinese Township Enterprises in Yan-bian Korean Ethnic Autonomous District (중국 연변조선족자치주 鄕鎭企業의 입지특성과 존립기반)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the locational characteristics and viabilities of township enterprises in Yan bian korean ethnic autonomous district. From the late of 1970s, Chinese township enterprises have heavily contributed to the rapid economic development in China, to alleviating the rural, surplus labor, and to reducing the dispa rity between urban and rural in term of socio-economic condition. From the late 1980s Chinese township enterprises in Yan bian korean ethnic autonomous district have rapidly developed in urban areas and also in the places that were easily accessed into main cities. The locational characteristics implied the management characteristics that attempted to solve the lack of capital and technique, and marketing difficulties through the existed firms in urban areas rather than the accessibility of the market. Chinese township enterprises in Yan bian korean ethnic autonomous district utilized locally available low wage labors of legal agrarian(nung-min-gung) to compete the large firms in urban areas. Township governments positively affected the development of the enterprise in the early stage: while, in the latter stage, they limited the autonomous management. If the economic ,system in China would be changed into the capital in the future, the institution should at low to the maximum autonomous management of township enterprises.

A Development of Coupled Wave-Induced Current Modeling System and Its application to the Idealized Shoreline with Detached Breakwater (연계 파랑류 수치모형 시스템의 개발 및 이안제가 설치된 해안에서의 적용)

  • Coupled wave induced current modeling system(WIC) was developed from combining with the nearshore spectral wave model, SWAN, the wave induced force model, WIF, and the flow model, EFDC. The reasonable results were obtained from WIC modeling system. The ratio of the wave height calculated with respect to refraction and diffraction effects over submerged spherical shoal was occurred approximately 1~5 % errors compared to Goda(2000)'s result. The radiation stress suggested by Longuet-Higgins and Stewart(1960), the stresses due to rollers in breaking waves proposed by Dally and Osiecki(1994), and Kim(2004)'s new spreading approach instead of the previous lateral mixing approach were added to calculate wave induced force. The results of the WIC modeling system show good agreement with Nishimura et al.(1985)'s laboratory measurements and better than Kim(2004)'s 2 dimensional depth averaged numerical computations for a plane beach with detached breakwater. The present flow field computed agrees reasonably well with the measured flow field. The relative merit of WIF model in WIC modeling system is unconditional stable for time increment.
