  • Recently many devices print electronic images in a variety of ways. The reproduced color, however, is different from the original color because of the difference of hardware characteristics. To maintain device independent color, gamut mapping method is proposed. The proposed color gamut mapping uses nonlinear intensity mapping and clipping for saturation mapping on HSI color space. In the dithering operation, expanded nonlinear ordered dithering and modified error diffusion are proposed. The proposed ordered dithering uses expanded nonlinear quantization which considers overlapping phenomena of neighbored printing dots. In the modified error diffusion, quantization errors to be diffused are adjusted to improve both image blur and color change produced in the error diffusion. So, the printed image is similar to the image of monitor. Our results indicate that proposed algorithm can produce high quality image in the low bit color devices.

  • 2D finite element model for analysis of transport of accidentally released pollutants in the flow was developed by SUPG method, and the mass balance of this model was checked though two example problems: line source and point source problem in the straight channel and unidirectional 2D flow field, respectively. All the test cases were simulated with both SUPG and conventional Galerkin method to compare the accuraccy of the numerical mass balance. Test results show that the model with SUPG can adequately conserve the released mass though simulation than the model using Galerkin method, so the developed model verified to be appropriate to solve this accidental mass release problem.

  • Spread of smartphone creates various contents. Among many contents, AR application using Location Based Service(LBS) is needed widely. In this paper, we propose error correction algorithm for location-based Augmented Reality(AR) system using computer vision technology in android environment. This method that detects the early features with SURF(Speeded Up Robust Features) algorithm to minimize the mismatch and to reduce the operations, and tracks the detected, and applies it in mobile environment. We use the GPS data to retrieve the location information, and use the gyro sensor and G-sensor to get the pose estimation and direction information. However, the cumulative errors of location information cause the mismatch that and an object is not fixed, and we can not accept it the complete AR technology. Because AR needs many operations, implementation in mobile environment has many difficulties. The proposed approach minimizes the performance degradation in mobile environments, and are relatively simple to implement, and a variety of existing systems can be useful in a mobile environment.

  • In this paper, we propose a new approach for the reduction of the dynamic false contours, which detects and compensates false contour artifacts adaptively. First, we develop a simple but effective method to select the pixels that are likely to cause the motion artifacts, based on the distribution of pixel values. Then, we merge the selected pixels into several regions using tree structure. Next, we reduce number of gray levels within the regions slightly to reduce the false contours. Note that reducing number of gray levels yield the distortion, thus it is applied only to the selected regions, instead of the whole picture. Intensive simulations on real moving image show that the proposed algorithm alleviates the dynamic false contours effectively with tolerable computational complexity.

  • Edge enhanced image is needed for processing images for special purpose such as a circuit diagram or a design composed of lines. Error diffusion halftoning, among digital halftoning methods to represent a continuous grayscale image for the binary output device such as printers, facsimiles, LCD televisions and etc. also makes edges of objects blurred. This paper proposes the method to enhance the edge of a binary image for the binary output device as well as a circuit diagram or a design. Based on that the human eyes perceive the local average luminance rather than the pixel's luminance itself, the proposed system uses a local activitymeasure (LAM), which is the difference between a pixel luminance and the average of its $3{\times}3$ neighborhood pixels' luminances weighted according to the spatial positioning. The system also usesinformation of edge enhancement(IEE), which is computed from the LAM multiplied by the average luminance. The IEE is added to the quantizer's input pixel and feeds into the halftoning quantizer. The quantizer produces the halftone image having the enhanced edge. The simulation results show that the proposed method produces more fine halftoning images than conventional methods due to the enhanced edges. Also the performance of the proposed method is compared with that of the conventional method by measuring the edge correlation and the local average accordance over a range of viewing distances.

  • Stereo matching techniques are categorized in two major schemes, local and global matching techniques. In global matching schemes, several investigations are introduced, where cost accumulation is performed in multiple matching lines. In this paper, we introduce a new multi-line stereo matching techniques which expands a conventional single-line matching scheme to multiple one. Matching cost is based on simple normalized cross correlation. We expand the scan-line optimization technique to a multi-line scan-line optimization technique. The proposed technique first generates a reliability image, which is iteratively updated based on the previous reliability measure. After some number of iterations, the reliability image is completed by a hole-filling algorithm. The hole-filling algorithm introduces a disparity score table which records the disparity score of the current pixel. The disparity of an empty pixel is determined by comparing the scores of the neighboring pixels. The proposed technique is tested using the Middlebury and CMU stereo images. The error analysis shows that the proposed matching technique yields better performance than using conventional global matching algorithm.

  • In the present study, the temperature distribution of droplet diffusion flames was predicted from the measurements of radiative emissions of soot particles formed. In order to predict the temperature distributions, the radiative emissions from soot particles filtered at both 700 nm and 900 nm were measured using CCD cameras and local emission distributions within the flame deconvoluted with Abel transformation were plugged into a two color method. The experimental results obtained from the present study demonstrate that the two color method as tool for temperature measurements is feasible but can introduce approximately 2% maturement errors in a deconvolution process depending on intervals for the line of sight. The estimated error in temperature measurements was found to be within 18 K at 2000 K.

  • This paper proposes a novel contrast enhancement (CE) algorithm for color images using the modified error diffusion (ED). After conventional color histogram equalization (HE), artifacts such as false contours are produced in the contrast enhanced image. The proposed CE algorithm using the modified ED consists of two parts: CE and ED. In the first part, a low-contrast input image is enhanced by the conventional HE method. In the second part, we use the modified ED algorithm. The inputs of the second part are the average and scaled difference images of the original color input image and the HE image, in which the scaled color difference image is diffused by the ED algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, the modified ED algorithm reduces the artifacts produced in the HE image, and increases the number of color levels. Computer simulations with a number of low-contrast color images show the effectiveness of the proposed CE method in terms of the visual quality as well as the probability mass function. It can be used as a post-processing for CE with simultaneous artifact reduction in various display devices.

  • In order to simulate the coastal dispersion effectively, hybrid concept of operator split Eulerian-lagrangian concentration model and random-walk particle tracking model are developed. Especially the random-walk model is adequate for region with steep slope of concentration. According to model tests, it agrees perfectly with analytical solution on around the source point for therefore. ▽C $\geq$ 0.005, meanwhile it shows poor results for ▽C$\leq$0.002. trial modeling for real situation therefore, random-walk model is applied for near field henceforth Eulerian-Lagrangian concentration model is adoped for whole domain so that overall performance and accuracy can be achieved by using developed hybrid model.
