  • 우리나라에서는 지금까지 대기 오염과 관련하여 환경기준 달성을 위한 정책수립에 있어서 대상물질은 주로 이산화황(SO$_2$)과 먼지(TSP) 등으로 경제개발과 산업발전과정 등에서 발생되는 오염물질이었다. 그러나 최근 몇 년사이 급격한 자동차의 증가로 인한 이산화질소(NO$_2$)와 휘발성유기화합물(VOCs)의 배출이 증가하고 있어 환경규제정책도 점차 변하고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 오염물질들이 대기중에서 태양복사에너지에 의해 광화학 반응을 일으켜 오존(ozone), PAN(peroxyacethyl nitrate), PBN(peroxy benzoyl nitrate), 아크로레인(carolein), 포름알데히드(HCHO, formaldehyde) 등 광화학 산화제를 생성하여 인체, 동ㆍ식물 및 재산상의 피해를 유발하고 있다.   • The influences of the oxidant($O_2\;and\;O_3$) on the FeOOH formation were studied with fixed $FeSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ concentration (0.5M) and NaOH equivalent ratio(0.5). The characteristics of the synthesized powders were evaluateed by XRD, and equantitative phase analysis. $\alpha-FeOOH$ (Geothite) and/or $\gamma-FeOOH$ was promoted when $O_3$ was used as a oxidant which is stronger oxidizing agent than $O_2$.

  • Decolorization system using ozone was developed to reduce the pollutants and dark brown color remained in effluent of activated sludge process for pig wastewater. The results are as follows. 1. Wastewater temperature was increased during the ozone treatment from 31$^{\circ}C$ to 41.9$^{\circ}C$. 2. Oxidation reduction potential(ORP) at the beginning time was 148㎷, but it was increased to 330㎷ according to the ozone treatment. 3. 11mg/l of BO $D_{5}$ in effluent of activated sludge process was decreased to 1mg/l by ozone treatment, CO $D_{MN}$ also decreased from 83mg/l to 1.0mg/l. 4. 442 unit(dark brown color) of color in effluent of activated sludge process was changed to 6 units(colorless), and color removal efficiency was 98.6%.

  • In this study, we report on the catalyst process installed in conjunction with a wet plasma electrostatic precipitator to remove the oil mist and fine dust emitted from large-size grill restaurants. The multi-stage catalyst module reduced odor through catalytic reaction of acetaldehyde on catalysts even at an ambient temperature with ozone as an oxidant readily produced in a wet plasma electrostatic precipitator. Two types of manganese-based catalysts, $Mn_2O_3$ and $CuMnO_x$ were fabricated by extrusion molding for structured catalysts in practical applications, and the optimum conditions for high removal efficiencies of acetaldehyde and ozone were determined. When two optimized catalysts were applied in a two-stage catalyst module, the removal efficiency of acetaldehyde and ozone were ${\geq}85%$ and 100% respectively at the space velocity of $10,000h^{-1}$ and the reaction temperature of $100^{\circ}C$.

Removal of Dissolved Humic Acid with Physicochemical Treatment Process (물리화학적 공정에 의한 용존성 Humic Acid의 제거)

  • This study was conducted for the two purposes; one was removal of dissolved humic acid, the well-known precursor of trihalomethanes (THMs), by physicochemical treatment processes such as ozone oxidation, coagulation and activated carbon adsorption. The other was qualitative identification of by-products in chlorination of the dissolved humic acid. When ozone oxidation was applied to remove the dissolved humic acid, pH was abruptly decreased. It was indicated that humic acid was not perfectly converted to $CO_2$ and $H_2O$, but to low fatty acid. In coagulation process, the coagulant was polyaluminumchloride which was widely used for drinking water treatment in recent years. With the dosage of 160 mg/L, total organic carbon(TOC), $COD_{Cr}$ and color were removed with 23%, 24% and 5% respectively. Color was effectively removed by ozone oxidation process, which was the first order reaction, with the reaction rate constant of $0.067min^{-1}$. In activated carbon adsorption process, preozonation process could remove more effectively the dissolved humic acid than that without preozonation. When the dissolved humic acid and sodium hydrochloride were reacted with 1 mg-NaOCl/mg-TOC, only trihalomethanes were detected.

  • BDD(Boron Doped Diamond) 전극은 전위창이 넓고, 다른 불용성 전극에 비해 산소발생과전압이 높아 물을 전기화학적인 방법으로 처리하는 영역에 있어 매우 효과적일 뿐만 아니라, 전통적인 불용성 전극에 비해 전극 표면에서 수산화 라디칼(-OH)과 오존(O3)의 발생량이 월등히 높아 수처리용 전극으로서의 유용성이 매우 높다. 따라서 BDD 전극을 수처리용 전극에 사용하는 경우 수산화 라디칼(-OH)과 오존(O3), 과산화수소(H2O2) 등과 같은 산화제의 생성은 물론이고, 염소(Cl2)가 포함되어 있는 전해액에서는 차아염소산(HOCl)이나 차아염소산이온(OCl-)과 같은 강력한 산화제가 발생되어 전기화학적 폐수처리, 전기화학적 정수처리, 선박평형수 처리 등의 분야에 널리 활용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 상온 및 상압에서 운전이 가능하고 난분해성 오염물질 제거 효과가 뛰어난 전기화학적 고도산화공정(Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Process, EAOP)에 적합한 대면적의 BDD 전극을 개발하고 자 하였다. 이러한 BDD 전극의 성막 방법으로는 필라멘트 가열 CVD, 마이크로파 플라즈마 CVD, DC 플라즈마 CVD 등이 널리 알려져 있는데 최근에는 설비의 투자비가 비교적 저렴하고, 대면적의 기판처리가 용의한 필라멘트 가열 화학기상증착법(Hot Filament Chemical Vapor Deposition, HFCVD)이 상업적으로 각광을 받고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 HFCVD 방법을 이용하여 반응 가스의 투입비율, BDD 박막의 두께, 기판의 재질 등에 따른 여러 가지 성막 조건들을 검토하여 $100{\times}100mm$ 이상의 대면적 BDD 전극을 개발하였다.   • 실험실 규모의 연구를 확대한 Pilot-Plant연구는 Bromate 감소에 대한 다양한 수질 문제에 대응할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구를 통해 산성하에서 $Fe^{2+}$을 주입시 Bromate가 감소됨을 확인하였다. 그러나 이러한 반응은 느린 반응이었으며, 온도에 의존하는 반응이었다. 단독응집제로서 $Fe^{2+}$은 탁도를 증가시켰다. 따라서 탁도를 제어하기 위해 $Fe^{2+}$를 주입하였다. $Fe^{2+}$/$Fe^{3+}$응집제의 조합으로 TOC를 제거할 수 있었다. 초기 결과를 통해 이러한 공정은 매우 면밀히 추진되어야 하며, 모든 온도에서 적용될 수 없었다. 현재까지 얻어진 결과에 의하면 오존처리함으로서 발생되는 Bromate를 최소화하는 방안은 낮은 pH조건과 $Fe^{2+}$의 주입이다. 최종 처리수에서 입자상물질과 철을 최소화하기 위해서는 pH 등과 같은 조건들을 변화시켜 여과공정 이전에 잔류 $Fe^{2+}$를 산화시킬 수 있도록 초기에 최적화가 이루어 져야 한다.

  • The combined process of Sliding Arc Plasma and corona dielectric barrier discharge process (CDBD) was used to efficiently improve harmful substance, which convert into OH radicals which have strong oxidation potential, and so have deodorization and sterilizing effects, by generating specific radicals and anion and then reacting with the moisture contained in harmful substance. As a result of experiment, even if the size of SAP reactor is reduced from 80 A to 50 A, there is no much change and therefore it is judged the size of reactor may be minimized. And it was confirmed that after the anion and ozone generated from CDBD rector react with harmful substance, a anion was reduced from 510,000 ppb to 470 ppb and ozone from 98 ppb to 22 ppb. It was also judged the stability and durability of plasma producer are excellent. Accordingly, it is considered the harmful substances which exist in indoor air quality will be efficiently improved and removed by using further plasma combined process through this study.

A Study on Coagulation and Ozone Treatment of Nonbiodegradable Substances in Landfill Leachate (생물학적 난분해성물질을 함유한 매립장 침출수의 응집 및 오존처리에 관한 연구)

  • The objectives of this study are summarized with two. The one is to remove of $COD_{Cr}$, color and turbidity with coagulation and ozonation in nonbiodegradable landfill leachate, the other is to compare of water qualities with pre-ozonation and post-ozonation. The results are summarized as follows ; 1) 90 minutes ozonation with $75mgO_3/min$($4.5gO_3/hr$) was conducted at pH 4,7, 10 to remove $COD_{Cr}$. Removal efficiencies were investigated with 48.2%, 52.6%, and 62.3% respectively. As increasing pH, $COD_{Cr}$ removal efficiencies were increased, it was considered that hydroxyl radical($OH{\cdot}$) which strongly oxdize and nonselectively react with organic compounds, was rapidly produced by ozone self-decomposition at high pH. 2) Alum, ferric chloride and ferrous sulfate were used for coagulation as inorganic coagulant. Ferric chloride was investigated with optimal coagulant, and it removed $COD_{Cr}$ about 12.0% at pH5 and dosage of $2,000m{\ell}/{\ell}$. Cation(C-101P), anion(A-601P) and nonion(SC-050) were tested to remove organic pollutants in landfill leachate. Cation(C-101P) was investigated with the most effective organic coagulant, and removal efficiency of $COD_{Cr}$ was 19.8% at pH5 and dosage of $100m{\ell}/{\ell}$. 3) Color and turbidity were removed up to 88.6%, 97.0% at pH10, when contacted 90 minutes with ozone, respectively. These removal efficiencies were much higher than those of $COD_{Cr}$ and $COD_{Mn}$. It was considered that ozone could oxdize the triggering materials of color and turbidity selectively and preferentially. 4) $COD_{Cr}$, color and turbidity were more effectively removed with pre-ozonation than post-ozonation about 8%, 3.5% and 1% respectively. These results were well corresponed with other's studies that pre-ozonation will increase the effect of coagulation.

Advanced Treatment of Piggery Slurry Using Micro Ozone Bubble, UV, Ultra Sonic and Hydroxy Peroxide (미세기포화 오존과 자외선, 초음파, 과산화수소를 이용한 돈분뇨 슬러리 고도처리)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the removal effects of the color, nutritive salts and other pollutants on piggery slurry by advanced oxidation process (AOP) system. The experimental AOP system was designed to treat 300 L of piggery slurry per hour. To enhance oxidizing power of the experimental APO system, a ultraviolet irradiation system and the ultrasonic system were attached to the AOP system. With 5 min ultrasonic treatment, COD, SS and T-N concentrations were changed from 210, 820, and 309 to 200, 760, and 262 mg/L, respectively. With 10 min ultrasonic treatment, SS and T-N concentrations tended to decrease but T-P concentration was not changed. With the treatment of both ozone and ultrasonic waves for 30 min, COD, SS, T-N and T-P decreased from 238, 900, 400, and 5 to 165, 540, 263, and 4 mg/L, respectively. With the treatment of both ozone and ultraviolet irradiation for 30 min, COD, SS, T-N and T-P decreased from 321, 340, 204, and 15 to 151, 140, 111, and 7 mg/L, respectively, and color was changed from 4,344 to 624.
