  • 수계를 단위유역으로 나누어 목표수질을 설정하고 그 목표수질을 달성 유지하기 위해 지자체별, 단위유역별 허용가능한 배출부하량을 산정한 후 그 부하량 범위내로 오염물질을 관리하는 제도가 수질오염총량관리이다. 수질오염총량관리는 오염원에 대한 배출허용기준을 정하여 관리하는 농도중심의 수질관리로는 오염물질의 양이 늘어나 수질환경기준을 초과하는 제도적 한계 때문에 오염총량관리를 도입하는 제도이다. 개발을 위해서는 오염물질을 저감하여야 하는 환경과 개발의 조화를 추구하는 녹색성장의 패러다임과 일치하며 오염물질 배출 지역의 책임 및 배출한도를 관리하는 통합적이고 선진적인 수질관리 정책인 것이다. 이러한 수질오염총량관리의 제1단계가 2010년으로 끝나고 제2단계가 2011년 1월 1일부터 2015년 12월 31일까지 시행된다. 제1단계의 대상물질은 $BOD_5$이지만 제2단계는 $BOD_5$, T-P로 대상물질이 늘어난다. 따라서 제1단계를 적적히 평가하여 그 문제점 및 개선방향을 인식하고 제2단계, 제3단계가 적절히 수행될 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 영산강 수계를 대상으로 제1단계 수질오염총량관리를 평가하기 위해 만족도 평가, 전과정 평가, 수질개선 평가, 개발 및 삭감실적 평가, 할당부하량 준수 여부 평가, 경제성 평가 등의 방법을 개발하였다.

  • 강우유출수의 오염기원별 기여도를 파악하고자 홍제천 유역의 구기 배수분구를 대상으로 강우시 유량 및 오염물질 발생경향 및 오염기원별 오염도 분석 등에 대하여 살펴보았다. 강우시 발생초기의 오염물질의 농도는 강우에 의한 초기세척현상(First Flush)에 의해 상당히 높게 나타났으며, 강우초기의 높은 오염물질의 농도는 강우에 의해 희석되어 일시적으로 낮아졌다가 높은 강우강도에 의하여 급격히 상승하였으며, 이후 오염물질의 농도는 유량의 감소에 따라 점차적으로 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 물질수지식을 이용한 근사적인 오염부하의 오염원별 기여도 분석에서 관거 퇴적물에 의한 오염도가 COD $27.7\%$, SS $47.5\%$로 나타났으며 지역에 따라서는 건기 하수보다도 더 높은 기여도를 보이고 있어 월류수 오염부하의 제어측면에서 정기적인 관거내 퇴적물의 준설과 세정을 통하여 상당량의 오염부하를 저감시킬 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The aim of the study is to assess groundwater pollution hazard of Pohang city using the DRASTIC system developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). Hydrogeological spatial databases of the system include information on depth to groundwater, net recharge, aquifer media, soil media, topographic slope, hydraulic conductivity, lineament and potential pollution source. With GIS based on these hydrogeological databases and the DRASTIC system, the regional groundwater vulnerability of the study area was assessed. Then the vulnerability was overlaid with potential pollution source and the regional groundwater pollution hazard was assessed by administrative district. From the results of the study, areas where need the counter plan for groundwater pollution and where should be managed for the groundwater pollution, are identified.

  • 새만금에서 농업용수의 안정적인 확보를 위해서는 새만금호의 수질관리가 절대적으로 필요하며 농업비점오염 부하량이 총인기준으로 52~72%를 차지하는 것을 고려할 때 농업비점오염 관리는 중요하다. 이에 "새만금유역농업비점오염 저감기법 개발 연구"를 통해 논과 밭 등의 농업비점 오염원별 최적관리기법 개발을 목적으로 모니터링 연구가 수행되었다. 유역규모 물수지 및 물질수지 분석에 있어서 논은 전체 농업용수의 60%를 차지하고 있다. 특히 농업비점오염 중에서 논은 물고 및 담수심의 관리에 따라서 기타 토지이용과 상이한 유출특성을 보인다. 따라서 유역규모에서 논으로부터 발생되는 비점오염의 시공간적인 부하량의 변화를 예측하기 위해서는 반드시 논에서의 물관리와 시비관리에 따른 수량과 수질의 유출특성에 대한 분석이 선행되어야 한다. 물관리 및 시비관리 방법에 따라 논으로부터 발생되는 오염부하량이 수질에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해서는 논에서의 물수지 및 물질수지 모니터링 기법이 활용될 수 있다. 하지만 모니터링 접근 방식은 오랜 시간과 많은 비용을 필요로 하는 단점을 가지고 있다. 따라서 고려되어 지고 있는 여러 저감기법들 중에서 농업비점오염물질의 유출에 미치는 영향을 파악하여 가장 적합한 저감기법 (Best Managment Practices, BMPs)을 선정하기 위해서 다양한 수학적인 모형들이 사용되어 왔다. 비점오염 관리는 오염물질이 오염원에서 발생되는 양 자체를 줄이거나 또는 오염원으로부터 수체에 이르기까지의 과정에서 운송을 차단시키는 방법들을 활용하고 있다. 따라서 논에서의 비점오염 모델링 또한 논에서의 유출 특성 및 질소와 인과 같은 영양물질과 관련된 기작을 고려한 모형들이 선택 및 적용되어야 한다. 논에서의 물관리 및 시비관리를 고려할 수 있는 모형들로는 CREAMS-PADDY, GLEAMS-PADDY, PADDYMOD, APEX와 같은 모형들이 개발되어 사용되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서 논으로부터의 비점오염 부하량 예측을 위해 사용되어 온 모형들의 장단점을 비교 분석하고 적합한 모형들을 동일한 시험포장에 적용하여 논 비점오염관련 모형들의 국내 적용성을 제시하였다.

Designing and Applicability of Soil Pollution Indices for Estimating Quality of Soil Polluted with Heavy Metals and Arsenic (중금속 및 비소오염 토양질 평가를 위한 토양오염지표의 고안과 응용 가능성)

  • Soil pollution indices (SPI) were designed for estimating quality of soil polluted with arsenic and heavy metals. Applying the quality reference value of soil based on its multifunctional purpose was a key step. For considereing multifunctions of soil, soil was classified into 4 groups-agricultural land, residential area, recreational area, factorial site. Then, each concentration of arsenic and each of five heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb, Zn) in soils grouped was transformed to a mathematical value based on the soil quality reference value which may stand for ecological impact. Soil pollution score (SPS) was the addition of the 6 values transformed, and the range of the SPS was divided into 4 Soil Pollution Classes (SPC). The SPC 1, 2, 3, and 4 were SPS <100, SPS 100-200, SPS >200-300, and SPS >300, repectively. SPS and SPC were evaluated with the results of the data from employing the Soil Network of 1994. Based on the soil quality reference values, SPS and SPC of the Soil Network's data were transformed and classified, respectively. Then, SPS and SPC were compared with arsenic and the 5 heavy metal contents of their reference values resulted from the Soil Network's. From this method, soil quality of most of the Soil Network area was estimated to be healthy. However, ca. 3.0~4.0% of the Soil Network area was determined in a range of slightly and heavily polluted. As the mean value of SPS of the Soil Network's was 66.2 which indicates most of soil evaluated was healthy. When the SPSs of the data were divided into 4 groups of SPC, Class 1 (Good quality of soil), Class 2 (Need to be checked area 1), Class 3 (Need to be checked area 2) and Class 4 (Polluted area) were 87.0, 9.4, 2.4, 1.2%, respectively. Using SPI were comparable to those of heavy metal contents in soils, and would be comprehenve to determine the status of soil qulity. Methodology of the developing SPI would be applicable to the other soil pollutants such as organic and inorganics than arsenic and 5 heavy metals used here.

Study on Adaptability of Rice Varieties at Air-Pollution Site (수도품종의 대기오염적응성)

  • Ten recommended rice varieties were cultivated in paddy area affected by air-pollutants and in normal area to select varieties adaptable to air-pollution environment. Rice plants grown in pollution site showed higher contents of total sulfur and fluorine in leaf through the whole growing period compared with those in non-pollution site, and rice leaves destroyed by air-pollutants were found only in pollution site. Rice grain yield and four yield components of ten rice varieties grown in pollution site were lower than those in normal area. Five rice varieties among ten were selected as adaptable to air-pollution environment, based on their yielding potential in pollution site and grain yield ratio between two sites. Rice varieties adaptable to pollution showed little variation of percent ripened grains and number of panicles per hill between two sites. Chlorophyll content in flag leaf of rice plants grown in pollution area was lower than in non-pollution area. No relationship was found between grain yield ratio (pollution/non-pollution site) of ten varieties and total sulfur content ratio, fluorine content ratio, chlorophyll content ratio between two sites, and percent destroyed leaf in pollution site, respectively. This result suggest that varietal adaptability to air-pollution environment is not related with the amount of pollutants absorbed, but with the degree of response to pollutants.

Survey on Contamination of Beauvericin and Enniatins in Korean Ginger and Ginger Powder (국내산 생강 및 생강가루의 Beauvericin과 Enniatins 오염도 조사)

  • Levels of beauvericin (BEA) and enniatins (ENNs: ENA, ENA1, ENB, and ENB1) were examined in fresh ginger (n = 43) and ginger powder (n = 31) samples from Korea. In the ginger samples, incidence of BEA contamination was highest, at 62.79%, with a maximum detected BEA level of 640.07 ㎍/kg. ENNs in were found in up to 11.63% (ENB, ENB1) of ginger samples, with a maximum detected level of 91.02 ㎍/kg (ENA). In the ginger powders, ENB contamination displayed the highest rate of incidence (70.97%), but the highest level of BEA (1,344.18 ㎍/kg) exceeded that of ENB (413.99 ㎍/kg). The incidences of ENA, ENA1, ENB, and ENB1 presence in ginger powders were 29.03%, 22.58%, 70.97%, and 35.48%, respectively, and their highest detected levels were 220.45, 156.61, 413.99, and 70.29 ㎍/kg, respectively. The incidence of BEA and ENN contamination was higher in ginger powder than in ginger. Respective co-occurrence rates of BEA and ENNs in ginger and ginger powder samples were 16.28% and 64.52%, indicating that the BEA and ENN co-contamination rate was highest in ginger powder as well. This is the first report on the presence and co-occurrence of BEA and ENNs in Korean ginger and ginger powder.

Analysis of contamination characteristics of filter cloth in filter press by repeated dehydration of organic sludge and evaluation of ultrasonic cleaning application (유기성 슬러지 반복 탈수에 의한 필터프레스 여과포 오염 특성 분석 및 초음파 세척 적용 평가)

  • In this study, the regeneration effect of pressurized water and ultrasonic cleaning was investigated for contaminated filter cloth from the sewage sludge filter press process. For this purpose, contaminated filter cloth was collected from a 3-ton sewage sludge hydrothermal carbon treatment filter press. First, the contamination characteristics were analyzed. According to the location of the filter cloth, air permeability and unit mass were measured, and compared with the values of a new filter cloth. Next, the results were mapped over the entire area to evaluate the contamination characteristics. Finally, pressure cleaning at 3 bar and ultrasound at frequencies of 34, 76, 120, and 168 kHz were performed on the contaminated filter cloth. In addition, the cleaning efficiency was evaluated by 3 levels of contamination degree. As a result, pore contamination occurred mainly at the bottom and both sides of the filter cloth, where the filter material was continuously injected and compressed. Surface contamination appeared evenly over the entire area. As a result of washing, air permeability increased by 1.3-3.1%p and contaminant removal was by 2.7-4.4% under pressure. In ultrasonic cleaning, air permeability increased by 12.5-61.5%p and contaminants were removed by 2.7-29.2%. In ultrasonic cleaning the lower the frequency, the higher air permeability and contaminant removal rate. Also, The higher pore contamination level, the better the air permeability improvement and contaminant removal.

  • 병원내 환경오염으로 인한 병원감염에 대한 문제가 끊임없이 대두되고 있어 병원내 환경오염에 관한 예방대책이 시급한 실정이다. 특히 병원내 환경오염 물질중 공기오염이 병원감염을 일으키는데 중요한 역할을 할 수 있어 병원내에 입원한 신생아, 노인층, 환자, 면역성이 낮은 환자나 병원균의 저항력에 약한 일반 내원자에 미치는 영향은 매우 심각하다.
