댐수몰지내 지하수/토양 오염관리를 위한 조사기법 제안

  • 댐수몰 예정지 상류에 일반적으로 분포하는 폐광산, 축산단지, 군사격장 등의 점오염원에 의하여 댐수몰 예정지 상류지역의 지하수 및 토양이 오염된 사례가 많으며, 이러한 오염은 댐 건설을 위한 적지선정시 장애요소로 작용하고 있고, 댐 건설중에도 댐저수지 수질을 지속적으로 악화시키는 요인들로 알려져 있다. 특히, 지하수내에 잔존하는 오염물들은 지하수 유동특성상 장기간에 걸쳐 서서히 진행되므로, 댐건설이 완료된 담수후에도 지속적으로 수질에 영향을 미치게 된다. 이에 따라 국내외에 수행되었거나 진행중인 댐수몰 예정지의 오염조사 평가 및 복원ㆍ정화 사례를 조사하는 한편, 현재 댐건설이 예정된 지역에 대하여 직접적인 현장조사를 실시함으로써 국내에 적합한 조사ㆍ평가 기법과 복원ㆍ정화 기법을 개발, 제안하고자 한다.

Soil Investigation Strategies for Soil Risk Assessment (토양위해성평가를 위한 합리적 토양조사방안 연구)

  • The objectives of soil investigation in risk assessment of contaminated sites are to characterize the level and area of contamination, and provide the important physical and chemical properties of contaminated sites for later exposure assessment. This study suggests two soil investigation strategies to be considered in the soil risk assessment in Korea. First, soil investigation for characterizing soil properties is additionally required to the current investigation method that has focused on chemical analysis. Second, application of statistical concepts to soil investigation plan and soil data analysis are required for confidential decison-making on contamination and determining the exposure soil concentration. This study provides a practical soil investigation strategy to involve the current Korean soil analysis guidance with the minimum sample number required for satisfying statistical limits.

Removal of PAHs and PCBs in artificially contaminated soils using electron beam irradiation (전자빔 조사에 의한 오염토양중의 PAHs및 PCBs의 분해)

  • Direct electron beam irradiation experiments on artificially contaminated soil by polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were performed to evaluate applicability of direct electron beam irradiation process for contaminated soil remediation. The removal efficiency of PAHs was about 97 % at 600 kGy and PCBs about 70 % at 800 kGy. PAHs were removed 27 % more, compared to PCBs although the absorbed dose was as low as 200 kGy. The contaminants decomposition was due predominantly to direct interaction of high-energy electrons and the target compounds rather than due to oxidation/reduction reaction by reactive intermediates. Radiolysis of electron beam may be able to decontaminate contaminated soil by toxic and recalcitrant organic compounds like as PAHs and PCBs effectively, but it may be economically uncompetitive. Thus, developments of post-treatment process of conventional site remediation technologies may be more practical and economical than direct radiolysis.

Soil Pollution and Contaminated Soil Management of the Public Housing Agency in Residential Land Development (전국 토양오염실태 및 공공택지개발지구의 오염토양 관리)

  • The purposes of this research are to examine soil pollution in the nation and to explore the contaminated soil management of the public housing agency in public land for residential development. In so doing, the primary and secondary data were utilized, the former made use of the public data annually released by the Korea Ministry of Environment, and the latter relied on a self-administerd questionnaire survey conducted in the staff of the public housing agency, particularly those in charge of soil contamination in large-scale land, housing and urban development projects. The findings reveal that the national concentrations of 21 inorganic and organic soil contaminants (e.g., Cd, Cu, As, Hg, Pb, Cr, Zn, Ni, F, P, PCB, CN, Phenol, BTEX, TPH, TCE, PCE, Benzo(a)pyrene, and pH) in the land were extracted to be well below the risk level designated by the statutory guidance while industrial areas had them at a relatively modest level. In addition, the survey results indicate that the public housing agency didn't establish specific and clear guidelines for soil pollution and its remediation in the residential land development, so that contaminated sites have been primarily remediated by outsourcing companies. As the unexpected occurrence of contaminated sites causes the incurring expenses added to total project budget, the provision of both professional training and on-site manuals with the sufficient information on techniques and methods of soil contamination is critical to promptly and systematically deal with soil pollution.

Heme 촉매반응에 의한 PCP 오염토양 복원

  • 본 실험은 미국 Washington 주 V 도시에서 1987년과 1908년에 PCP 유출사고로 발생된 PCP 오염토양을 처리하는 연구로 heme과 과산화수소를 이용한 abiotic 기술로 14C-PCP를 이용하여 PCP의 거동조사로 물질수지 연구와 pan 연구를 통하여 오염토양에서 PCP 제거되는 분해능을 조사하였다. $^{14}$ C-PCP를 이용한 오염토양에서 물질수지는 2g 오염토양당 0.035 g heme과 0.11g 과산화수소를 첨가하여 반응 24시간 동안 반응시킨후 완전 산화율은 20%, 토양잔류 27%, 그리고 용매상에는 38%로 총 $^{14}$ C-PCP가 회수율은 85% 이었다. PCP 유출사고로 보관된 오염토양 처리를 위한 pan 연구결과 24시간내 초기 PCP 987 mg/kg soil에서 85%가 제거되고, 서서히 분해되어 33일 에는 95% 분해능을 보여주고 있다.

Construction of Three Dimensional Soil Cadmium Pollution Map Using Geotechnical Information DB System (국토지반정보시스템을 이용한 3차원 토양오염지도 구축)

  • This study presented the build-up of three-dimensional soil pollution map for precise analysis. To do this, survey on the existing pollutant region on Dongnae-gu, Busan that is the study subject, showed that it tended to produce 0.72 clusters. So, this study suggested to investigate center of $1km{\times}1km $ grid and, as the results of comparing the pollution map that input pollution figure values based on the actually investigation point showed precise results. And, it divided the standard of pollution into 5 levels in surface and underground space and the map was built up using IDW interpolation against the amount of polluted substance. The pollution of ground surface, flow of polluted substance, coefficient of permeability and ground water level that are 504 geotechnical informations were selected as the influential parameters in pollution analysis of underground space, and it calculated that to 0~20 points by dividing the characteristics. It enables the build-up of pollution map of ground surface-underground with depth that considers the characteristics of soil layers and it is considered that it is possible to analyze the general infiltration. And, it was considered that it enables more accurate forecast about influential analysis per depth and pollution of underground water.

  • 중금속으로 오염된 폐광산 주변부나 유류누출로 인한 토양오염 등과 같은 오염부지에 대한 환경조사는 그 결과를 토대로 환경계획이나 정책이 수립되므로 의사결정의 기초가 된다. 이때, 의사결정의 타당성은 오염부지 조사결과 오염도가 얼마나 정확하게 측정되었느냐에 따라 달리 평가되어 진다. 그러므로 이와 같은 환경조사는 측정결과의 불확실성이 감소되도록 정밀한 시료채취방법이나 분석방법을 고안하여 적용해야 한다. (중략)

  • 광산지 및 쓰레기매립지의 오염토양을 정화하는데 식물의 이용가능성을 평가하기 위하여 강원도, 경상북도 지역에 분포하는 17곳의 폐광산과 강원도에 분포하는 농촌형 일반 쓰레기매립지 6곳을 대상으로 광산지와 매립지의 토양 특성을 조사하고, 서식 식물종의 오염 물질 제거 능력과 개척종으로서의 가능성을 평가하였다. 광산지 토양의 경우 산성화가 진행된 곳이 많았고, 중금속함유량도 전국 토양의 평균함유량보다 훨씬 높게 나타났으나, 매립지의 경우 약알카리성 토양이 많았고, 광산지와 달리 중금속 오염의 우려는 없었다. 오염토양에 서식하는 쑥을 포함한 14종의 식물체중에서 오염토양정화기술에 이용 가능한 유용식물로 Aremisia princeps(쑥), Micanthus sinensis(억새), Oenanthera odorata(달맞이 꽃)등이 중금속의 흡수력과 지상부로의 이행력이 큰 식물종으로 나타나 phytoremediation에 있어서 개척종으로 이용가능할 것으로 판단되었다.

A Case Study of Site Investigation on XX Gas Station (국내토양오염 유발시설별 오염현황 조사 - XX 인근주유소 오염현황조사 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to assess contaminant transfer and environmental impacts to the surroundings by inadequate control of USTs. Several methodologies can be used to approach for the site assessment depending on the appearance of contaminants on the site and their types. In this case study, randomized and/or triangle matrix techniques were used. As a result, the composition of materials in tank station were appeared in several state. From 1 to 1.5m depth, the soil was composed of reclaimed soils. And 1.8-3.5m depth, silty sand was appeared and about 4m, weathered soil was appeared. Based on the preliminary and actual site investigation by DPT methodologies on the width and depth of the site with analysis of BTEX and TPH, the contamination was found in this tank station and already distributed near areas. Finally, it was found that the hydroflow differences during the season affects the area and depth of contamination.

Heme과 Hemoglobin을 이용한 Pentachlorophenol 오염토양 정화

  • 워싱턴주 벤쿠버시 Bonneville 전력소 전주 보관 지역내 PCP와 creosote 오염토양 2g 당 0.020g heme에 0.108g $H_2O$$_2$을 혼합한 산화방법과 0.035g hemoglobin에 0.324g $H_2O$$_2$을 혼합한 산화방법을 비교ㆍ조사하였다. 오염토양에 $^{14}$ C-PCP을 첨가한 다음에 $^{14}$ C의 물질수지를 조사한 결과, 24시간동안 반응 후 $^{14}$ $CO_2$는 heme 과 hemoglobin반응에서는 각각 3.50g와 3.88% 생산되었다. $^{14}$ C 물질수지 분포는 heme 촉매 산화반응에서 용매 상에 43.01% 토양 상에는 46.03%이고, hemoglobin 촉매 산화반응에서는 용매 상에 39.21%와 토양 상에 51.25%로 비슷한 분포를 보였다. 실험실 규모 pan 실험에서 초기 PCP농도 273$\pm$20 mg/kg과 TPH 6379$\pm$45 mg/kg인 오염토양에서 hemoglobin 촉매 산화 반응이 초기반응을 제외하고 7일 이후 반응에서 heme 촉매 산화반응보다 빠르게 분해되었고, 35일 반응 이후 PCP는 10 mg/kg 이하의 값을 나타내었고, TPH도 유사한 결과를 보여 주었다. 그러므로 건조 hemoglobin과 과산화수소에 의한 PCP 오염토양 복원기술은 분해율이 높고 경제성을 가지고 있으므로 기존의 복원공정을 대안으로 제시될 수 있다.
