This study investigates the examples of artistic intervention especially on the surface of architecture as a meeting place of art and architecture. Artistic intervention demonstrates the possibilities for the meaningful integration of arts into architectural spaces. This study summarizes the characteristics of artistic intervention on the surfaces of architectures as follow; first, the artistic intervention is applied to the broad ranges of designs including public art, architectural design and sign design that establish identities and unique characters to the spaces. Second, the artistic intervention on the surfaces is conducted by the participation of the various fields of artists, i.e. painters, installation artists, graphic designers and landscape designers. The artistic intervention is also conducted by individual collaboration between artists and architects as well as by the forms of public art of art-in-architecture program. Third, the artistic intervention on the surfaces is expressed using the complex combination of images, colors, patterns, and texts. They are applied to enhance the aesthetic and symbolic characters of buildings in public arts, to improve the visual characters of architectural design with graphics, colors, and patterns, as well as to increase communication skills and cognitive effects of sign design with letters and colors on walls and floor surfaces. Fourth, the artistic intervention is also applied on the surfaces to encourage people to communicate historic and symbolic meanings related to the locations and functions. Thus, graphics on the architectural surfaces could provide a public space, with which people could share common feeling on public arts. As a conclusion, the study finds that artistic intervention either as artworks or as elements of architectural design can not only enhance the aesthetic quality of architectural space but also expand the techniques of design representation. In addition, the artistic intervention can contribute to create a new realm of design where artists and architects work together to enrich our surroundings.
In contemporary art, the process of appreciating art works requires the dichotomy between traditional art and New Media Art. This difference can be witnessed in the contrasting ways of appreciating art works; in traditional art, a certain physical and esthetic distance is placed between viewers and works of art, and in New Media Art, art is appreciated by active involvement and communication. In other words, this disparity is based on whether viewers physically involve themselves in the completion of the art works. Perhaps contemporary art can be better understood and appreciated if a single primary keyword takes the center place of art appreciation rather than allowing the dichotomy. Thus, a new approach is welcome, where art appreciation is not adversely affected through such divided means based on the degree of active participation. This is not some new introduction of jargon but the reinterpretation of contemplation, the key word for art appreciation in the past, as the common key word for both conventional art and New Media Art.
The collective narratives on global crisis such as the displaced, uneven distribution of resources, invasion of human rights is more than a recurring theme or polemics in the fields of contemporary arts. In the latest projects from Olafur Eliasson, Rirkrit Tiravanija and Ai WeiWei, art works are presented as performative 'platforms' for tackling these undiscriminating reality of human conditions. Here, 'the users' as driving forces of possible change, are postulated as prospective actors/players who lead and collaborate to defy the status-quo. Crossing over the on/off lines, the everyday-activities of exchanging, sharing and networking are strategically deployed and its meaning reconfigured within the context of post/production discourse. This historical, yet unsettling juncture between art and life, dystopian reality and utopian idealism has its formal-conceptual links to Russian Constructivism, Brechtian Learning-Play and Joseph Beuys' Social Sculpture. Based on Nicolas Bourriaud's notion of Postproduction, this paper aims to provide a diachronic analysis on collaborative dispositions of participatory arts practices.
The purpose of this study is to investigate public art in Mullae art Village based on Adorno's Mimesis and explore a wide range of possibilities of new genre of public art. This study found out the new possibility of not only artist network, but also networks of local villagers and iron factory workers, and considered in-depth analysis of new genre public art in Mullae art village focusing on their active participations in art programs. By analyzing the artists' stories through interviews, low-cost rental accommodation brought a influx of artists into the village, and they formed their artist networks working by themselves. At this point, this could be judged a critical phenomenon in accordance with Adorno's mimesis. However, by external pressures such as government policies for setting up Mullae Art factory or downtown redevelopment, artists sought independent role in Mullae-dong and doing active public art programs grounded on mimesis. Artists were seeking a way to cope with the economy mechanism doing new genre of public art based on mimesis, and found out the possibility of formation of relationships with local residents and iron factory workers. This study was seemed to suggest the direction of new genre of public art through Mullae art village case, and considers new political measure plans for culture and art policy.
To provide a set of data with which instructors may boost the sagging demand for Anglo-American poetry classes, this thesis classifies the kinds of difficulties the students face in reading English poems. Asses to the classification is an analysis on the causes of the difficulties at different levels of the reading process, from the linguistic to the cultural. Arnoldian insight argues that poetry is the best of all forms of writing. Without an ample exposure to poetry, average English majors would barely sharpen the skills that they use to deal with other kinds of writing. To help ease the continuing need for a workable teaching model in English poetry reading classes, this thesis suggests focusing on the kinds of wrong translations produced by the students. According to the theory of cultural translation, any translation, even the wrong kind, is already a product of a very complicated process of interpretation that involves many cultural factors. With the analysis of these factors discovered in Korean college English reading classes, this thesis tries to explain the mechanisms through which wrong translations are produced, since these inevitably lead to wrong interpretations of given poetic texts.

Anger cause heart disease and domestic violence and recently there have been an increasing number of media reports of crimes committed because of their inability to control their anger. Anger has been reported to cause massive financial losses due to heart disease and domestic violence. Therefore, since anger raises serious social problems and social costs, it is necessary to take active intervention methods to alleviate inappropriate anger coping. A variety of methods such as cognitive and emotional approach, psycho-mechanical approach, psycho-educational approach, relaxation therapy, cognitive behavior-art therapy, and stress immunization are being explored and utilized for presenting effective anger-coping intervention alternatives. In this manner, information and communication technology is likely to be used as an effective means for this, and various researches are being conducted. The purpose of this study is to develop an anger coping service technology using ICT (Information & Communication Technology) technology as an effort to improve anger coping ability. In other words, the goal is to develop a technology that delays anger and evokes the surroundings by providing location-based services to recognize anger situations and facilitate anger. This research is about the technology which intervene directly the anger situation to resolve it using location information and introduce the base technology to realize it.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of an integrative art therapy program for marriage migrant women to improve self-efficacy, learn conflict resolution strategies, and establish close family relationship. The participants of the program were limited to marriage migrant women residing in A City who lived in Korea for more than two years. 30 women for the experimental group and 31 women for the control group were randomly sampled. Eight sessions were offered. A pre-test was conducted in the first session and a post-test was done one month after the program was finished. The results of the program suggested that the experimental group had a higher effect on self-efficacy and conflict resolution strategies than the control group. The integrative art therapy program for marriage migrant women conducted in this study aims for marriage migrant women to recover confidence and actively establish happy marital and family relationship by providing an opportunity to make success experience. Moreover, the program is intended to be applied to the field to build up the foundation of family and social adjustment in marriage migrant women.
In this study, a process of re-creating Jindo Buk Chum, one of the traditional Korean arts, into digital art using various artificial intelligence technologies was proposed. The audience's emotional data, quantified through artificial intelligence language analysis technology, intervenes in various object forms in the projection mapping performance and affects the big story without changing it. If most interactive arts express communication between the performer and the video, this performance becomes a new type of responsive performance that allows the audience to directly communicate with the work, centering on artificial intelligence emotion analysis technology. This starts with 'Chuimsae', a performance that is common only in Korean traditional art, where the audience directly or indirectly intervenes and influences the performance. Based on the emotional information contained in the performer's 'prologue', it is combined with the audience's emotional information and converted into the form of images and particles used in the performance to indirectly participate and change the performance.
Modern society is diversified society and is under complicated situation as the boundary of each area has been disappeared. To understand and accept such complicated situation as widely as possible, it is required to understand interaction. of receiver with intertextual environmental arts as the structure of open text. This study examined interaction of environmental arts in terms of intertextual feature based on experience of receiver on combined element of different space and time, combination of genres. This is the concept of meaning personal experience or situation as receiver participates the process of completing art works, and set the fantasy, post-place and speciality of location and temporal-spatial expression method, as characteristics of intertextuality. Features of such experience elements are used as methodology of analyzing characteristics of each work. Feature of fantasy uses strategy of inducing spatial experience of receiver with dematerialization for post-place and expands the place where events occur with intervention of contingency and event situation. It suggests the spatial-temporal expression method as the features focusing on process and reflecting changes in spatial-temporal continuum and speciality of place emphasizing context of place. In conclusion, environmental arts needs to be deep rooted on complicated existence aspect of receiver beyond metaphysical dimension depending on presence and to accomplish conversion of awareness of supplying bisection of life from that place. By doing so, environmental arts can live textual life as it gets together with all other texts in terms of text dimension and creativity can be reborn as practical creativity in intertextuality rather than uniqueness. Such combination with other areas and acceptance of various aspects of receivers who see and experience this will result to creation of open works which can be create newly over and over again in multi-dimensional aspects.
In the twenty first century of rapid cultural change performing art requires new mode of expression based on imaginative power and creativity as well as establishing its own identity. The modern technological environment support this with advanced technology and bring about the expansion of reason from new experience. The introduction of digital media on artistic expression in particular, expands the physical ability of human body which is the main subject of performing art. A virtual body from digital technology is freed from physical boundaries and goes over space and time. It also suggests the possibility of new mode of communication with audience. This study aims at examining the subject of performing art and its digitalized movement focusing on EveR, the world's first professional robot actor. The robot actor which came on stage according to the new expression medium, a digital body, stands in need not only of technological value but also of cultural and artistic application for expression in art. In this endeavor to meet the demand, this study examines the development process and function of 'EveR' the robot actor. Also it searches into the performance of Ever which replaced human being as well as the historical significance of the title:the world's first. To be more specific, there is a example research on two performances:a pansori play "EveR is simply stunning(2009)" and children's play "The Robot Princess and Seven Dwarfs(2009)." Through this example research, it is enabled to anticipate the influence of robot actors on performing arts and to search for the better way of them to evolve. Furthermore, it aims at finding ways to create high value through promoting robot actors to be familiar to the public as well as supporting them to become active cultural contents. The performance with robotic technology is one of the artistic experiment that may cause the change of the future of performing art by actualizing technological imagination together with human body and machinery. As a consequence, it is expected that the meeting of performing art and robotic technology gives positive influence on activating performing art as one of the integrated cultural phenomenon which satisfies the taste of modern era. Moreover, this study may also be the beginning of the expansion of performing art to stretch to diverse field.
