  • 인간이라면 누구든지 자신의 미래를 궁금해 한다. 많은 역술가들이 "운세를 미리 알면, 다가오는 흉액은 피하고, 지나치는 행운은 따라가서 잡을 수 있다"고 한다. 주역을 쉽게 해설하거나 독특한 역법을 사용한 역술서들이 범람하는 즈음, 내용에 있어 길흉을 예건하는 단정적 문구는 일단 경계할 필요가 있다.

  • 사일리지의 사양가치에 가장 크게 영향을 미치는 요인은 사초의 종류에 기인되는 화학조성분이며 사일리지를 적기에 제조하므로 단위면적당 최고의 양분수량을 거둘 수 있다. 유기산의 생성량이 많고 낙산이나 암모니아태질소의 함량이 많으면 사일리지의 품질이 떨어지고 섭취량이 감소되므로 사일리지 품질 증진을 위한 연구방향은 발효를 감소시키고 단백질의 분해를 막는 것이다. 사일리지의 발효에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인으로는 사초의 화학조성분인 수분, 수용성탄수화물 등과 제조기술에 크게 좌우되는 공기(산소)혼입량이다. 재료의 수분함량은 사일리지 발효품질에 큰 영향을 미치며 수분이 많은 재료는 적당히 예건되면 젖산발효는 덜 제한되는 반면 불필요한 발효가 줄어들고 낙산발효를 억제할 수 있어 품질이 향상되고 기호성이 증진된다. 또한 사초를 알맞은 길이로 절단하므로 답압이 잘되어 공기 배출이 양호해 혐기상태의 유지가 가능하게 되고 사일리지의 취급또한 편리해 진다. 사일리지 첨가제는 재료를 적절히 예건하지 못할 때 필요하고 또한 특별한 조건하에서는 권장되고 있다. 이와같이 사일리지 발효에 도움을 준다는 가능성에도 불구하고 첨가제의 잇점은 양질 사일리지 제조를 위한 제반 처리를 대신할 수 없다. 양건 건초제조에 소요되는 기간은 기후에 크게 영향을 받게 된다. 건초제조 과정 중 포장에서 생기는 건물손실은 외기에 오랫동안 노출되면 잎이나 연한 줄기 부분이 부서지고 카로틴이 파괴된다. 또한 말리는 과정에 비를 맞힐 경우 양분이 용해되어 소화되기 쉬운 영양소와 건물 손실이 증가되며 섬유소함량이 증가되어 소화율과 섭취량이 감소된다. 그러므로 일기 예보에 따라 좋은 날씨가 $3\sim4$일 계속되는 시기를 택하여 적기 수확하고, 줄기의 압쇄(condition), 건조시 풀의 두께를 얇게, 뒤집기, 적절한 수분함량일 때 거둬들이는 조치가 필요하다.

Effect of Nutrient Supply Cut-off Periods Before Harvest on Storability of Chicon (수확 전 단수처리가 치콘 저장성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to find out the effect of cut-off period (0 hour, 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, and 24 hours) to supply nutrient solution for chicon forcing at that was predrying treatment on the storability of chicon. The cut-off treatment increased dry matter rate, respiration rate, and ethylene production rate. The dry matter rate of chicon increased, as the cut-off period increased, but the respiration rate and ethylene production rate of chicon was highest in 12 hours and 6 hours cut-off treatment, respectively, and then their rates decreased, as the cut-off period prolonged. The weight loss at cut-off 6 hours treatment was lower than other treatments during $10^{\circ}C$ storage temperature. The cut-off 6 hours treatment showed higher carbon dioxide and oxygen concentration in 10,000 cc/$m^2$/day/atm oxygen permeability film package during storage period than control and showed a little predrying effect but was not statistically significant. At $4^{th}$ day, the ethylene concentration reached higher than other storage day and after that decreased but was not statistically significant. The quality of chicon for 3 hours, 6 hours, 24 hours cut-off treatments on storability showed higher than other treatments, accordingly. The 6 hours cut-off treatment showed the inhibited effect of the degree of browning of chicon cutting plane. The effect of 6 hours cut-off treatment on storability of chicon showed proper predrying effect, reduced moisture loss and browning inhibition apparently during $10^{\circ}C$ storage.

Comparison of the Quality of Highland-Grown Kimchi Cabbage 'Choon Gwang' during Cold Storage after Pretreatments (수확 후 전처리에 의한 고랭지 배추 '춘광' 품종의 저온 저장 중 품질 변화에 대한 비교)

  • Kimchi cabbage 'Choon Gwang' cultivar that was grown in highlands in Gangneung was subjected to predrying, room cooling, and forced air cooling, and then packed with/without 0.02 mm HDPE film to investigate the effect of postharvest treatment on quality characteristics during 8 weeks storage at $2^{\circ}C$ (RH $90{\pm}5%$). Weight loss in forced air cooling and room cooling was lower than 3-4% with 0.02 mm HDPE film liner treatment during storage. However, it was only below 10% in room cooling without liner treatment and forced air cooling without liner treatment led to the highest weight loss, above 15%. Conversely, the control had lower weight loss than the others. SSC was $2-4^{\circ}brix$ for all treatments and there was no difference between postharvest treatments and liner treatments. Color index and firmness both showed no differences with/without 0.02 mm HDPE film and postharvest treatments. In sensory evaluation, forced air cooling with liner treatment was effective, with the highest score, especially in appearance and crispness. After 6 weeks, control kimchi cabbage without liner treatment was damaged seriously in appearance and the internal color had changed to brown. Room cooling and predrying with liner treatment changed the start of internal browning to after 8 weeks storage.

  • Onion has been reported to contain various organosulfur compounds which have antibiotic and anticarcinogenic properties and flavonoid like quercetin which is a valuable natural source of antioxidants. Carbohydrates in onion constitute about 80% of dry matter, and the major non-structural carbohydrate of onion bulb is fructo-oligosaccharides, well known as fructan, followed by glucose, fructose, and sucrose. The sugar concentration is associated with dormancy and storage life of onion, occurring as decrease in glucose, fructose and fructan, particularly towards the end of storage. Forced air pre-drying for 15-20 days at room temperature is an essential procedure to reduce freezing injury and sprouting, then onion bulbs can be stored at $0^{\circ}C$ for 6 months to control sprouting and decay. Bacterial soft rot caused by $Erwinia$ and $Pseudomonas$ is the main postharvest disease when the bulbs are infected with the bacteria and stored at room temperature. Browning in sliced onion is due to oxidation of phenolic compounds by polyphenol oxidase and it can be inhibited by citric acid treatment, packing with nitrogen gas, and polyethylene film.

The Effect of Pre-Wilting Herbage on the Composition and Feeding Value of Silage (예건의 Silage의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • Experiment were conducted to study effect of pre-wilting on the quality of silage. Herbage samples were taken on November 11, 1981. Italian ryegrass and rye plant at grazing stage were taken and wilted to adjust their dry matter contents to the range of 15.8 to 53.2% and ensiled in order to evaluate the effect of pre-wilting on the chemical composition and nutrient loss of silage. Both prewilted and unwilted grass material were ensiled in small polyetylene film bag and stored under room temperature. 1. The formation of total acid decreased by increasing DM content, however, lactic acid content of the total organic acid increased. 2. In the silage, the loss of DM declined as DM content increased. 3. The quality of silage estimated by organic acid constituent was improved as DM content in the herbage increased. 4. The production of $NH_3-N$ decreased by increasing degree of prewilting. 5. In vitro dry matter digestibility was not affected by prewilting.

  • This study was conducted to extend the storage period of onion. After pre-drying process of onion, its storage was investigated at room temperature during a month. When ozone was treated with the concentration of 3 ppm in warehouse, the weight loss and the rotten rate of onion were remarkably decreased compared with control. Typical odor of onion was completely removed by the ozone treation during the storage.
