In this paper, we propose a new connected operator Using morphological grayscale reconstruction for region-based coding First, an effective method of reference-image creation lis proposed, which is based on the Size as well as the contrast. This improves the performance of simplification, because It preserves perceptually important components and removes unnecessary components The conventional connected operators are good for removing small regions, but have a serious drawback for low-contrast regions that are larger than the structuring element. That is, when the conventional connected operators are applied to tills region, the simplification becomes less effective or several meaningful regions are merged to one region to avoid this, the conventional geodesic dilation is modified to propose an adaptive operator to reduce the effect of inappropriate propagation, pixels reconstructed to the original values are excluded m the dilation operation Experimental results have shown that the proposed algorithm achieves better performance In terms of the reconstruction of flat zones. The Picture quality has also been improved by about 7dB, compared to the conventional methods.

In this paper, a novel algorithm is proposed to reduce the blocking artifacts of block-based coded images by using block classification and MLP. In the proposed algorithm, we classify the block into four classes based on a characteristic of DCT coefficients. And then, according to the class information of neighborhood block, adaptive neural network filter is performed in horizontal and vertical block boundary. That is, for smooth region, horizontal edge region, vertical edge region, and complex region, we use a different two-layer neural network filter to remove blocking artifacts. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm gives better results than the conventional algorithms both subjectively and objectively.

In this paper, we propose an efficient segmentation algerian using morphological grayscale reconstruction for region-based coding. Each segmentation stage consists of simplification, marker extraction and decision. The simplification removes unnecessary components to make an easier segmentation. The marker extraction finds the flat zones which are the seed points from the simplified image. The decision is to locate the contours of regions detected by the marker extraction. For the simplification, we use a new connected operator based on the size and contrast. In the marker extraction stage, the regions reconstructed to original values we excluded from the candidate marker. For the other regions, the regions which are larger than structuring elements or have higher contrast than a threshold value are selected as markers. For the initial segmentation, the conventional hierarchical watershed algorithm and the extracted markers are used. Finally in the region merging stage, we propose an efficient region merging algorithm which preserves a high quality in terms of the number of regions. At the same time, the pairs which have higher contrast than a threshold are excluded from the region merging stage. Experimental results show that the proposed marker extraction method produces a small number of markers, while maintaining high quality and that the proposed region merging algorithm achieves a good performance in terms of the image quality and the number of regions.

This paper presents a new edge-preserving algorithm and its VLSI architecture for block artifact reduction. Unlike previous approaches using block classification, our algorithm utilizes pixel classification to categorize each pixel into one of two classes, namely smooth region and edge region, which are described by the edge-preserving maps. Based on these maps, a two-step adaptive filter which includes offset filtering and edge-preserving filtering is used to remove block artifacts. A pipelined VLSI architecture of the proposed deblocking algorithm for HD video processing is also presented in this paper. A memory-reduced architecture for a block buffer is used to optimize memory usage. The architecture of the proposed deblocking filter is prototyped on FPGA Cyclone II, and then we estimated performance when the filter is synthesized on ANAM 0.25 ${\mu}m$ CMOS cell library using Synopsys Design Compiler. Our experimental results show that our proposed algorithm effectively reduces block artifacts while preserving the details.

A fine dust measurement using drones is becoming an increasingly common technology, and air pollutants can be identified through dust monitoring in partial industrial areas. A station for measuring fine dust provides information at large construction site offices. On the other hand, it was difficult to check the fine dust in the pollutant source accurately. Therefore, the drone took measurements directly after been placed at the site. While measuring fine dust, monitoring noise occurred due to the influence of the drone's down-wind during landing, but the measurements were similar to the numerical value of the grounded pollution source on the height of 30 m. The field applicability to the study area has limitations in periodic updates using satellite images because the terrain was constantly changing due to considerable flattening fieldwork. Therefore, this study implemented a system that can reflect real-time field information through GIS mapping using drones.

This paper presents an effective motion estimation to improve the performance of the motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) which is a core part of the wavelet-based scalable video coding. The proposed scheme makes the motion vector field uniform by the modified median operation and the search strategies using adjacent motion vectors, in order to enhance the pixel connectivity which is significantly relevant to the performance of the MCTF. Moreover, the motion estimation with variable block sizes that reflects the features of frames is introduced for further correlation improvement of the motion vector field. Experimental results illustrate that the proposed method reduces the decomposed energy on the temporal high frequency subband frame up to 30.33% in terms of variance compared to the case of the full search with fixed block sizes.
In this paper, we present a novel segmentation method that can extract new foreground objects from a current frame in real-time. It is performed by detecting differences between the current frame and reference frame taken from a fixed camera. We minimize computing complexity for real-time video processing. First DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform) is utilized to generate rough binary segmentation maps where foreground and background regions are separated. DCT shows better result of texture analysis than previous methods where texture analysis is performed in spatial domain. It is because texture analysis in frequency domain is easier than that in special domain and intensity and texture in DCT are taken into account at the same time. We maximize run-time efficiency of DCT by considering color information to analyze object region prior to DCT process. Last we use Guided filter for natural matting of the generated binary segmentation map. In general, Guided filter can enhance quality of intermediate result by incorporating guidance information. However, it shows some limitations in homogeneous area. Therefore, we present an additional method which can overcome them.

We introduce an adaptive finite state vector quantization using a new side match distortion function. The conventional side match distortion function can make the gray level transition between the block bounddaries as smooth as possible and proper state codebooks in the flat areas where the spatial correlations are high. But it can't make proper codebooks in the edge areas where the spatial correlations are not high. The proposed distortion function adds the variances which represent the image characteristics to the conventional side match distortion function as weighted values. Then it can select better state codebooks than the conventional side match distortion function. Also if it predicts a wrong state, the proposed quantizer can correct the state. As a result, we can obtain the satisfiable image quality.

The Gradient Vector Flow (GVF) snake or active contour model offers the best performance for image segmentation. However, there are problems in classical snake models such as the limited capture range and the slow progress into concavity. This paper presents a new method for enhancing the performance of the GVF snake model by extending the external force fields from the neighboring fields and using a modified smoothing method to regularize them. The results on a simulated U-shaped image showed that the proposed method has larger capture range and makes it possible for the contour to progress into concavity more quickly compared with the conventional GVF snake model.
