An Implementation of a System for Video Translation on Window Platform Using OCR (윈도우 기반의 광학문자인식을 이용한 영상 번역 시스템 구현)

  • As the machine learning research has developed, the field of translation and image analysis such as optical character recognition has made great progress. However, video translation that combines these two is slower than previous developments. In this paper, we develop an image translator that combines existing OCR technology and translation technology and verify its effectiveness. Before developing, we presented what functions are needed to implement this system and how to implement them, and then tested their performance. With the application program developed through this paper, users can access translation more conveniently, and also can contribute to ensuring the convenience provided in any environment.

Standardized Description Method of Image Acquisition Characteristics Tests for Image Sensors and Modules (이미지 센서 및 모듈의 영상 취득 테스트를 위한 표준화된 기술 방법)

  • In the image acquisition tests of image sensors and modules, how to compare pixel values, how to digitize "defect", and how to determine "fault" are extremely varied from test equipments. Therefore, setup of test equipments for image acquisition characteristics should be customized for target devices under test. In general, test procedures are delivered as technical documents in not standardized but arbitrary formats. So test equipment should be manually programmed fitting individual setup condition. This costs huge time and effort and has high risk of human error. In this paper, the standardized description method is proposed to apply to almost all existing tests where various tests are described in a single framework.

  • There are two methods to express natural phenomena using image processing techniques. One is the presentation of simulations for natural phenomena and the other is the display of images based on script. A lot of people used to get the display using vast data and complicated math formulas. When we get the output images in this way, we will have some problems in time and cost. In this paper, we use fluid images excluding using the complicated math formulas, programming, and taking pictures to present the natural phenomena. We construct the library to express the natural phenomena effectively using 2D images and simulation of fog for the background of oriental painting in 3D space.

  • In this paper, we design and implement the UCC services prototype system for image and video. The proposed system consists of the two components such as the multimedia processing subsystem and the metadata management subsystem. It provides the API to UCC service developers. The multimedia processing subsystem supports the media management and editing of image and video, and the streaming services of video. The metadata management subsystem supports the metadata management and retrieval of image and video. The reply management and script processing of UCC are given in the subsystem.

  • Recently, there is increasing concern about smart phone due to the release of Iphone and Android phone. Like the normal desktop application, using multimedia contents will have important role for smart phone application. The multimedia contents mentioned here mean Image and Video. The famous codecs for Image and video are Jpeg Mpeg and h.264, which is popular recently as a vedeo codec because of its high compression ratio compared with the other video codecs. In this paper, we will use Jpeg and H.264 encoded raw sequences. This paper will suggest how to decode and display effectively Jpeg and H.264 raw sequences arrived from socket stream. And we will show you the simulation result.

  • 열화상 시스템은 물체로부터 발산되는 적외선을 영상화하여 물체를 탐지하는 장점으로 인해 군사 분야는 물론 현재 민수 분야(자동차, Security 시스템)에 활용분야가 넓어지고 있다. 기존에는 대부분 FPGA 기반으로 열화상 열상 모듈을 개발하였지만 민수 분야에 다양한 요구사항 및 범용성에 유연한 대처가 힘든 실정이다. 따라서 다양한 요구사항과 범용성을 만족하기 위한 시스템의 필요성이 대두되었다. 본 논문에서는 상용 이미지 프로세서를 이용한 열화상 영상 처리 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 기존 FPGA 기반 시스템이 아닌 상용 이미지 프로세서를 사용함으로써 범용 영상 입·출력 인터페이스 및 각종 디바이스를 지원함에 따라 다양한 요구사항과 범용성을 만족한다. 따라서 시스템이 구축이 되면 뛰어난 접근성으로 인하여 시스템 추가/변경 시 기존의 시스템에 비해 개발 비용 및 기간을 단축할 수 있으며 그로 인하여 다양한 고객 요구사항 만족, 개발 비용 및 시간 단축, 제품 출시일 등 다양한 이점을 얻을 것으로 예상한다.

  • 본 논문에서 제안하고 있는 RT-WISN(Real Time-Wireless Image Sensor Network)는 과거의 무선이미지 전송 기술에 비해 적은 전력을 소모하고 빠른 전송이 가능하게 하는 기술이다. 제안된 RT-WISN은 IEEE802.15.4 표준을 따르고 있으며, 현재 본 연구실에서 개발하고 있는 UoC(Ubiquitous on Chip) 메모리 구조를 응용하여 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하고 있는 RT-WISN은 전송하고자 하는 대상이 되는 영상정보의 움직임 변화를 영상 전송 임계값 값을 사용하여 데이터 전송 시기를 결정함으로써 기존의 시스템에 비해 노드의 에너지를 보다 효율적으로 관리할 수 있는 기법 이다. 또한 본 논문에서는 제안된 전용 프로세서를 사용하여 보다 넓은 대역폭에서 필요한 영상 데이터를 효율적으로 전송할 수 있어 전송 시간 제어에 보다 용이함을 제공 한다. 무선센서 네트워크에서 이런 점들은 각 노드들의 생존 시간을 향상하게 되고, 고속의 전송이 가능하게 하는 장점으로 작용하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 Peer-to-Peer 상에서 실제 설계된 메모리 구조를 사용하여 이미지를 무선으로 전송하고 그 전송 시간과 도달률을 측정하여 RT-WISN이 무선 센서 네트워크에서의 검출된 영상 정보의 전송에 적합함을 보인다.

Image Calibration Techniques for Removing Cupping and Ring Artifacts in X-ray Micro-CT Images (X-ray micro-CT 이미지 내 패임 및 동심원상 화상결함 제거를 위한 이미지 보정 기법)

  • High quality X-ray computed microtomography (micro-CT) imaging of internal microstructures and pore space in geomaterials is often hampered by some inherent noises embedded in the images. In this paper, we introduce image calibration techniques for removing the most common noises in X-ray micro-CT, cupping (brightness difference between the periphery and central regions) and ring artifacts (consecutive concentric circles emanating from the origin). The artifacts removal sequentially applies coordinate transformation, normalization, and low-pass filtering in 2D Fourier spectrum to raw CT-images. The applicability and performance of the techniques are showcased by describing extraction of 3D pore structures from micro-CT images of porous basalt using artifacts reductions, binarization, and volume stacking. Comparisions between calibrated and raw images indicate that the artifacts removal allows us to avoid the overestimation of porosity of imaged materials, and proper calibration of the artifacts plays a crucial role in using X-ray CT for geomaterials.

A Study on 2-Layered Image Tile Mosaics Preserving Details of the Source Image (원 영상의 세부 묘사를 유지하는 두 층 이미지 타일 모자이크 방법에 대한 연구)

  • This paper proposes a method of image tile mosaics to preserve detailed depiction of the source image. This method enhance the shortcoming of the previous mosaic methods that cannot express the detailed depiction because of the gap between tiles. Our method is implemented by the usage of image tiles to preserve detailed depiction of the source image, as well as the usage of 2-layered tiles to.eliminate the gap between tiles. The method suggested in this paper are composed of following process. First of all, the position of the upper layer tile is located through a centroidal voronoi diagram to which an edge avoidance technique is applied, and the position of the lower layer tile is calculated using Delaunay triangulation. Secondly, discover the size and direction field of the tile considering the relation between tiles. Thirdly, adopt a photomosaic technique to use the image tiles. At this time, the technique of multi-level indexing is used to accelerate the speed of image searching. Through above process, the gap between tiles is minimized against other methods and a mosaic image with a maximized detailed description is achieved.

A Study on the Transition of the Grotesque Expression Method in Animation (애니메이션에 나타난 그로테스크 표현방법 추이 연구)

  • The esthetics of 'grotesque' and its entertaining values have many things in common with the characteristics and properties of animation as a medium of expression. The ways to express grotesque images in animation have expanded its realm of expression with the development of modern image digitalization technologies. The grotesque images that were expressed by the combination of photographs and animations and objet animations have been developing its disharmony in a more realistic manner with full 3D animation technology and realistic motions of virtual characters with motion capture. The subject matter also has become more diverse with the advance of modern scientific civilization. An example is the appearance of Cyborg(cybernetic+organism) characters and the grotesque images in the modern times mainly start to appear in animations dealing with the isolation of human beings among its characteristics. Also, the changes of the expression methods of grotesque images along with the development of visual technology development in the future will transform its methodological forms by changing its expression methods to VR forms and interactive visuals. Thus it is expected that the grotesque images and characteristics will change into a visual genre which emphasizes dehumanization.
