오늘날 비즈니스의 글로벌화, 사업장의 분산화는 필연적으로 영상회의의 활성화를 가져왔으나, 기 구축된 SD(Standard Definition)급 화질의 영상회의는 실감성 및 장시간 사용시 피로감 등에 따른 이용율 저조로 기대 만큼의 성화를 이루지 못하였다. 또한 기존 영상회의 시스템에서의 dec는 보조적 채널, 시스템 조작과 운영의 복잡성, 낮은 해상도로 인한 표정 및 눈짓 등의 요소 포착이 어려운 한계를 극복하지 못하였고, 기업들은 기업 내부 및 국내외 타기업들과의 협업을 위해 막대한 비용과 시간이 요구되고 있는 실정이다. KT는 기존 영상회의 문제 극복을 위해 서울<->대전 연구소간 전용선 연결, 비용 및 여러 site 확장을 위한 VPN으로의 전환 방안등 최상의 영상회의 구축을 위한 검토를 통해 Full HD실감 화질의 영상회의를 구축하였으며, 향후에는 Full HD 데이터 압축 기술 향상 및 데이터 전송 방안에 대한 더 많은 연구가 필요하다고 판단된다. 본 고에서는 KT에서 구축한 영상회의 사례를 중심으로 기본적인 기술과 구조, 국내외 시장의 현황 및 활용 방안에 대해 논하였다.

실시간 영상회의 시스템을 인터넷상에서 다양하게 사용하려는 시도가 이루어지고 있다. 이런 부분의 연구는 오디오, 비디오 압축기법, 멀티미디어의 동기화, 다자간의 영상회의를 지원하기 위한 IP multicast 의 Mbone의 연구가 활발하게 이루어지고 있고, 통신의 회선속도가 고속화됨에 따라 인터넷에서 영상을 통한 다양한 멀티미디어 서비스가 이루어지고 있다. 개방형 분산 인터넷 통신망 환경에서의 영상회의는 영상회의 데이터인 영상 및 음성 보안에 대한 문제가 심각하게 대두된다. 본 논문에서는 실시간 영상회의에서 멀티미디어 데이터의 특성에 따른 보안 방법을 제시하고자 한다.

영상회의 시스템과 같이 그룹의 멤버들이 서로 다른 지점에 위치하면서 실시간으로 대화하는 시스템을 실시간 분산 그룹웨어 시스템(real-time distributed groupware system)으로 정의한다. 회의 관리는 영상회의를 원하는 사용자가 네트웍 상에서 현재 열리고 있는 회의세션을 검색하거나, 새로운 회의세션을 생성하여 영상회의를 시작시키거나, 앞으로 열릴 회의세션을 예약하거나 등의 서비스를 제공한다. 여기서 회의세션의 의미는 분산된 시스템들과 그 시스템의 사용자들이 하나의 그룹을 형성하고, 그룹내에서 클라이언트와 서버 형식의 상호작용을 하도록 하는 연결 고리로 정의한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 서비스를 제공하는 회의 관리구조를 설계하였고, 앞으로 구현 및 확장을 할 예정이다.

최근 영상회의 시스템과 관련하여 해결해야 할 문제 중 데이터 전송시 발생하는 지연에 관한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 영상회의 구성을 설명하고 영상회의 시 발생하는 전송 지연을 최소화 방법에 대해서 논한다. 전송 지연을 최소화하기 위해서 근원적으로 오디오와 비디오 데이터를 분리 시켜 전송하므로 전송 시 발생하는 지연을 최소화 시켰다. 또한 이를 효과적으로 지원할 수 있는 동시화 알고리즘을 제안하고, 이 알고리즘을 기반으로 영상회의 시스템을 설계하였다.

The video conference system which enables multiple users even at places away from each other proceed with the work at the same time is required to establish a convenient and efficient smart work environment. The conventional S/W-based video conference system is developed by the different implementation methods using provider's own technology and as a separate program for each OS type of user. On the other hand, the video conference system using HTML5 and WebRTC provides features of video conference system through a web browser that support HTML5 and WebRTC functions without installing any programs In this paper, in order to activate a HTML5-based video conference system in the domestic market, we propose the standard for the interworking functions that need to be supported in each system to ensure the interoperability among different HTML5-based video conference systems.

본 논문에서는 H.323 영상회의 표준을 만족하는 영상회의 영역을 관리를 위한 게이트키퍼를 구현하고, 기본적인 영상회의 시스템에서의 단점인 등록된 사용자 정보에 대한 일반 사용자의 접근 미비로 인한 불편함과 사용자가 모든 제어를 직접 해서 생기는 오류 등을 해결하고자 웹 서비스와의 연동을 통한 사이버공간을 구현한다 또한, 웹 서비스를 이용함으로써, 영상회의 소프트웨어의 유지 보수를 사용자가 아닌 서비스 제공자가 직접하게 하여 보다 더 효율적인 영상회의 시스템의 관리를 위한 방향을 제시한다.

화상회의 시스템에서 원활한 동영상의 전달을 위해서는 주어지는 처리시간에 대하여 그에 상응하는 품질을 보장하는 프레임 스케줄링 방법이 필수적이다 영상 복원 작업에 주어지는 처리시간이 증가함에 따라 그 실행 결과로 얻어지는 영상의 품질이 함께 증가할 것이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 영상회의 시스템에서의 압축된 영상의 복원 과정에서 프로세서의 처리시간에 따르는 결과 영상의 품질에 대한 QoS함수를 도출하고 이를 IRIS 스케줄링 방안에 적용하는 온-라인 스케줄링 알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제시하는 알고리즘에 대한 모의실험의 결과는 주어진 시스템 성능에 H하여 영상회의에 참여한 모든 화자 영상의 총체적 화질을 향상시킬 수 있음을 보여준다.

인터넷상에서 실시간 영상회의 시스템을 구축하기 위해 MBone망을 구성하고 RTP에 의해 영상 및 음성정보의 고속전송이 가능하게 하였다. 이를 기반으로 멀티미디어 영상회의 프로토콜인 H.323을 탑재하여 다자간 회의 시스템을 구현하고, 더불어 영상사서함 기능을 부가하여 녹화, 재생이 가능하게 한다. 구현결과 기존의 시스템보다 속도가 향상됨을 확인했다.
