  • The advancement of Internet network technology has triggered the emergence of new OTT video content platforms, increasing demand for content and altering consumption patterns. This trend is bringing positive changes to the South Korean animation industry, where diverse and high-quality animation content is becoming increasingly important. As investment in technology grows, video production technology continues to advance. Specifically, 3D animation and VFX production technologies are enabling effects that were previously unthinkable, offering detailed and realistic graphics. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is providing new opportunities for this technological growth. The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is automating repetitive tasks, thereby enhancing production efficiency and enabling innovations that go beyond traditional production methods. Cutting-edge technologies like 3D animation and VFX are being continually researched and are expected to be more actively integrated into the production process. Digital technology is also expanding the creative horizons for artists. The future of AI and advanced technologies holds boundless potential, and there is growing anticipation for how these will elevate the video content industry to new heights.

Artistic Achievement of Abstract Animation and Contemporary Significance (추상 애니메이션의 예술적 성과와 현대적 의의)

  • This paper historically sheds the new lights on the artistic worth and achievement of abstract animation in the animation genre, and presents the contemporary significance and importance of abstract animation through the study on the avant-garde characteristic and the works of abstract animation artist, including Mirai Mizue. Though abstract animation which is artists' experimental work dealing with speed and movement of image has an essential role for the development of modern visual culture and animation, it is losing meaning and value because of the commercialism and capitalism of digital contents industry. Therefore, this paper first presents that the study of experimental animation like abstract animation contributes to the diversification and improvement of digital contents industry then it discusses the effect on the contemporary digital contents industries, next analyze the historical development and comtemporary evolution of abstract animation, which is diversified from modernism to contemporary art, and finally discuss the experimental feature and expression of abstract animation.

  • This is a study on the roles in the association of sound as subtext for animation. On this study, it will be helpful to develop sound concepts and to create animations with creativity. For animation without sound can be produced as an artistic purpose, however, most animations are created with sound. It is not means that sound is less important than visual in animations. Sound is also one of significant element to create animations. Sound have many important rolls for subtext such as parts of action, leitmotif, characteristic, time, ethnic, localization in the animations. It will be analyzed two animations such as Shrek (DreamWorks Pictures production/ Director: Andrew Adams) and Monsters Inc. (Walt Disney Pictures/ Director: Peter Doctor).

  • In this paper, study on organization factors and algorithm of semiotics in Animation text within Roland Gerard Barthes's Structurism semiotics theory. It is possible through this approach that we can analyse the effective mechanism which delivers messages(or text) of animation, instead of plain analysis of classical semiotics. and then It will be able to keep watch on the blind viewpoint of the pure aesthetics which does not consider a social duty. In the expression of single sentence by the view of Barthes's semiotics theory, the text of animation is 'one sign has duplex role'. when it is explained another, the animation of mass media is special processing that makes conception and significance. in other words, the order of domination likely natural rule assimilate mass people to itself by the animation of mass media

  • These days, there are a lot of digital images, which are using to communicate with each other people, can make a liberal and creative media. In this environment, the studies on the digital animation would play a leading role of the aesthetic and technology developments for creative digital images. Digital animation images have their own aesthetics, and characteristics. They should be considered as a part of technology expansions. In particular, hyperrealistic digital animation should be more concentrated in the mutual relation between technology and aesthetic, because hyperrealistic digital animation has not only an appartus feature as a side of aesthetics, but a technology feature as a post modernistic media. Therefore the technology of digital animation as a the possibility of future growth for media should adhere strictly the peculiarity of digital aesthetics.

  • The purpose of this research is to study a case of allegory and experimental presentation technique in Film by Zbigniew Rybczynski. It is to analyse this study is to inquire into the fact that experimental animation carries diverse interpretation of comtemporary art and the purpose of this study is to identify certain style through the interpretation of allegory focused on film Tango which has expanded the field of experimental animation with the unique form of the film structure and technique. Therefore, in this research, I would highlight the characteristic of allegory in Film by Zbigniew Rybczynski and research the experimental presentation technique that appears in experimental animation focused on "fragmentation" which are the expressive style of allegory.

  • Whether an excellent animation film has vitality and charm largely depends on the aesthetic and emotional experience it brings to the audience, as well as the flexible use of the medium-long shot during the production of the animated film, especially the long take shot. It can then realize the real emotional communication between the animated film and the audience, stimulate the aesthetic experience, and achieve emotional resonance and sublimation. This thesis studies the characteristics and morphological divisions of moving long-shot composition and static composition and explores the diversified theories of animated emotional experience. Additionally, combined with the actual application analysis in the excellent animation feature "Prince Nezha's Triumph Against Dragon King", this thesis discussed the changes in the emotional experience created by the long take shots in the animation. This thesis finally summarized the relationship between the long shots in animation and the emotional experience of the animation creators, and how long shots stimulate viewers' aesthetic and emotional experience. In this way, it also provides a reference for future animation theory research, and finally creates animation works that bring high-quality emotional experience to the audience.

  • Image-based motion capture technology is often used in making realistic computer animation. In this paper we try to implement image-based motion rendering by fixing a camera to a PC. Existing image-based rendering algorithms have disadvantages of high computational burden or low accuracy. The former disadvantage causes too long making-time of an animation. The latter disadvantage degrades reality in making realistic animation. To compensate for those disadvantages of the existing approaches, this paper presents an image-based motion rendering algorithm with low computational load and high estimation accuracy. In the proposed approach, an incremental motion rendering algorithm with low computational load is analyzed in the respect of optimal control theory and revised so that its estimation accuracy is enhanced. If we apply this proposed approach to optic motion capture systems, we can obtain additional advantages that motion capture can be performed without any markers, and with low cost in the respect of equipments and spaces.
