Integrity Authentication Algorithm of JPEG Compressed Images through Reversible Watermarking (가역 워터마킹 기술을 통한 JPEG 압축 영상의 무결성 인증 알고리즘)

  • Multimedia contents can be copied and manipulated without quality degradation. Therefore, they are vulnerable to digital forgery and illegal distribution. In these days, with increasing the importance of multimedia security, various multimedia security techniques are studied. In this paper, we propose a content authentication algorithm based on reversible watermarking which supports JPEG compression commonly used for multimedia contents. After splitting image blocks, a specific authentication code for each block is extracted and embedded into the quantized coefficients on JPEG compression which are preserved against lossy processing. At a decoding process, the watermarked JPEG image is authenticated by extracting the embedded code and restored to have the original image quality. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we analyzed image quality and compression ratio on various test images. The average PSNR value and compression ratio of the watermarked JPEG image were 33.13dB and 90.65%, respectively, whose difference with the standard JPEG compression were 2.44dB and 1.63%.

H.264 to MPEG-2 Transcoding considering Distance of Motion Vectors (움직임벡터의 거리를 고려한 H.264 to MPEG-2 Transcoding)

  • After the efficiency of H.264 video compression has been announced, it replaced MPEG-2 standard in several applications. So transcoding methods of MPEG-2 to H.264 have been studying because there are variety devices and contents followed by MPEG-2. Although H.264 supported various service such as IPTV, DMB, digital broadcasting etc, but users using MPEG-2 devices cannot accessible to them. This paper propose H.264 to MPEG-2 transcoding for users of MPEG-2 devices without displacement H.264. The proposed method predicted a motion vector for MPEG-2 encoder after it extracted from motion vectors of variable blocks in H.264 to improve processing time. Also it predicted a optimal motion vector using modified boundary matching algorithm after grasped a special character for boundary and background of object. The experimental results from proposed method show a considerable reduction in processing time, as much as 68% averagely, with a small objective quality reduction in PSNR.

Region-Growing Segmentation Algorithm for Rossless Image Compression to High-Resolution Medical Image (영역 성장 분할 기법을 이용한 무손실 영상 압축)

  • In this paper, we proposed a lossless compression algorithm of medical images which is essential technique in picture archive and communication system. Mammographic image and magnetic resonance image in among medical images used in this study, proposed a region growing segmentation algorithm for compression of these images. A proposed algorithm was partition by three sub region which error image, discontinuity index map, high order bit data from original image. And generated discontinuity index image data and error image which apply to a region growing algorithm are compressed using JBIG(Joint Bi-level Image experts Group) algorithm that is international hi-level image compression standard and proper image compression technique of gray code digital Images. The proposed lossless compression method resulted in, on the average, lossless compression to about 73.14% with a database of high-resolution digital mammography images. In comparison with direct coding by JBIG, JPEG, and Lempel-Ziv coding methods, the proposed method performed better by 3.7%, 7.9% and 23.6% on the database used.

Compression efficiency improvement on JPEG2000 still image coding using improved Set Partitioning Sorting Algorithm (분할 정렬 알고리즘의 개선을 통한 JPEG2000 정지영상 부호화에서의 압축 효율 개선)

  • With the increasing use of multimedia technologies, image compression requires higher performance as well as new functionality. Specially, in the specific area of still image encoding, a new standard, JPEG2000 was developed. This paper proposed Set Partitioning Sorting Algorithm that uses a method to optimized selection of threshold from feature of wavelet transform coefficients and to removes sign bit in LL area on JPEG2000. Experimental results show the proposed algorithm achieves more improved bit rate.

  • 네트워크 및 전송기술의 발달로, 고품질 HDTV, IPTV 및 3DTV 영상서비스가 가능하게 되었다. 통신망을 사용한 멀티미디어 서비스 및 DMB와 같은 이동 수신 방송 등은 사용자에게 편의성을 제공한다. 그러나 한정된 대역폭으로 인한 압축 열화와 전송오류로 인한 화질 열화의 발생으로 멀티미디어 서비스의 체감 품질(QoE: Quality of Experience)이 중요한 문제로 부각되고 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 국제전기통신연합(ITU)과 VQEG 등의 국제 표준화 기관에서는 다양한 환경과 규격의 영상에 대해 영상의 품질을 측정하는 표준화를 진행하였다. 본 고에서는 동영상 화질 평가에 대해 기존에 진행된 표준에 대하여 소개하고, 현재 ITU에서 진행 중인 표준화 동향 및 이슈들을 살펴본다.

Compression of Elemental Images Using Block Division in 3D Integral Imaging (3D 집적 영상에서 영역 분할을 이용한 요소 영상의 압축 기법)

  • Integral imaging is a well-known 3D image recording and display technique. The huge size of integral imaging data requires a compression scheme to store and transmit 3D scenes. In the conventional compression scheme, the data amount of elemental images depends on the various recording condition such as the positional location of a 3D object, the illumination and specification of the lenslet array even if an identical pickup system is used. In this paper, to reduce the dependence of the image characteristics of elemental images on the pickup conditions, a compression scheme using block division on the elemental image of integral imaging is proposed. The proposed scheme provides an improved compression ratio by considering the local similarity of elemental images picked up from three-dimensional objects according to a positional location. To test the proposed scheme, various elemental images are picked up and a compression process is then carried out u sing a standard MPEG-4. Based on compression ratio results, the proposed compression scheme is improved by approximately 9% compared with the conventional compression method.

  • 영상압축 표준인 MPEG알고리즘은 다양한 분야에서 응용되고있다. 최근에는 기존의 아날로그 CCTV 영상 감시시스템 분야에서도 MPEG을 응용한 IP Surveillance 시스템으로 급속히 전환되고 있는 추세이다. 본 논문은 IP Surveillance를 위한 MPEG 알고리즘의 최적 Qp에 대해 분석하고 실제 전송구간에서의 지연과 품질에 대해 분석하였다. 네트워크를 통한 영상전송에서 QoS에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인으로는 압축된 영상데이터의 bit rate와 전송구간인 네트워크에서의 지연으로 인한 문제이다. 따라서 본 논문은 IP Surveillance를 위한 디지털 CCTV 네트워크를 구성하기 위한 방안을 MPEG 알고리즘과 전송부분에서 분석하고 효율적인 구성방안을 제시하였다.

  • Recently, Fractal Image Coding has been studied as a way of efficient data compressing scheme. In the beginning, Fractal Image Coding has been studied for the data compressing in black & white images and linear images. A. E. Jacquin suggested LIFS which expends to Fractal Image Coding for a gray scale image. Currently, YTKT's LIFS scheme which is using Gram-Schmidt is so efficient that enough to compete with the JPEG which is the national standards. This paper investigates the way of greatly reduced calculation for the orthogonalization algorithm.

  • 한정된 대역폭의 통신망에서 다른 매체에 비해 자료량이 많은 화상의 압축은 중요한 문제로 떠올랐다. 대표적인 영상 압축방법으로 MPEG 시리즈와 H.26x 시리즈가 있다. 그중 H.263은 화상회의 표준안인 H.323와 최근 진행중인 차세대 이동통신이라 일컬어지는 IMT-2000에서 영상압축방법중의 하나로 채택되었다. 또한 현대에 이르러 Desktop상에서의 영상회의구축은 더 이상 불가능한 일이 아니며, 또 하나의 영상회의 활용분야로 급속히 떠오르고 있다. 이는 internet의 보급과 함께 internet방송, 다대다 화상회의, 원격 의료 진료 등, 수없이 많은 분야에 활용될 수 있는 계기가 마련되었다. 이에 본 논문에서는 H.261과 H.263, 그리고 H.263 version 2의 Desktop상에서의 실제적인 구현 및 비교를 기술한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 압축 영역에서 열 영상을 이용한 딥러닝 기반의 객체 검출 방법을 제안한다. 비디오 압축 표준인 High Efficiency Video Coding(HEVC)를 이용하여 부보화된 비트스트림으로부터 Intra Prediction Mode(IPM), Prediction Unit Size(PUS), Transform Unit Size(TUS)를 추출하고 3 채널 영상으로 변환하고 객체 검출 네트워크인 YOLO 에 입력으로 넣어주어 최종적으로 객체의 위치 및 객체의 종류를 예측한다. 실험결과로써 복원된 열 영상과 검출된 결과를 주관적으로 보여줌으로써 압축영역에서 열영상을 이용한 객체 검출이 가능함을 보인다.
