An Interpolation Method for a Barrel Distortion Using Nearest Pixels on a Corrected Image (방사왜곡을 고려한 보정 영상 위최근접 화소 이용 보간법)

  • We propose an interpolation method considering barrel distortion of fisheye lens using nearest pixels on a corrected image. The correction of barrel distortion comprises coordinate transformation and interpolation. This paper focuses on interpolation. The proposed interpolation method uses nearest four coordinates on a corrected image rather than on a distorted image unlike existing techniques. Experimental results show that both subjective and objective image qualities are improved.

  • A set of color features has been efficiently used to measure the similarity of given images. However, the size of the color features is too large to implement an indexing scheme effectively. In this paper a new method is proposed to retrieve similar images using an interpolated color histogram. The idea is similar to the already reported methods that use the distributions of color histograms. The new method is different in that simplified color histograms decide the similarity between a query image and target images. In order to represent the distribution of the color histograms, the best order of interpolated polynomial has been simulated. After a histogram distribution is represented in a polynomial form, only a few number of polynomial coefficients are indexed and stored in a database as a color descriptor. The new method has been applied to real images and achieved satisfactory results.

  • 본 논문은 필드 기반 영상 워핑을 위한 Pseudomedian 필터 기반 영상 보간법을 제안하고 주관적인 화질을 분석$\cdot$평가함에 그 목적이 있다. 대표적인 영상 워핑 기술 중 하나인 필드 기반 워핑은 상대적으로 많은 연산량을 요구하는 것에 반해 제어선을 이용하여 좀 더 세밀하게 워핑 결과를 제어할 수 있는 것이 장점이다. 필드 기반 영상 워핑의 동작 특성상, 국부적인 영상 확대와 축소 및 회전등과 같은 다양한 기하학적인 변형이 복합적으로 발생하게 되는데 역방향 매핑 과정에서 소스영상과 목적 영상의 화소가 정수 화소 단위로 대응되지 않을 경우, 목적 영상에 대응시킬 화소값을 산출하기 위해 적합한 영상 보간 기술이 필요하다. 다양한 보간 기술들 중에서 평균적으로 우수한 결과를 제공하는 양선형 보간이 보편적으로 사용되고 있으나, 이 보간 기술은 대각선 방향의 윤곽선 재현에 한계를 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 필드 기반 영상 워핑을 수행할 시에 윤곽선 재현에 우수한 특성을 보이는 Pseudomedian 필터 보간과 양선형 보간을 효과적으로 결합하여 양자의 장점을 보간 결과에 반영함으로써 양선형 보간만을 이용하는 필드 기반 워핑 기술에 비해 자연스러운 워핑 결과를 제공할 수 있었다. 제안된 방법의 타당성과 보편성을 검증하기 위해 서로 다른 분포 특성을 갖는 영상을 대상으로 주간적인 화질 측면에서 그 성능을 분석$\cdot$평가하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 짝수 홀수 분해법 (even-odd decomposition; EOD) 에 기초한 CCI (cubic convolution interpolation) 변형된 방법을 제안한다. CCI는 선형보간법과 더불어 영상 보간에서 가장 많이 사용되는 보간법이다. 선형보간법과 비교하여 우수한 화질을 제공하지만, 복잡도 상당히 증가하는 문제점을 갖고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문은 최근 제안된 짝수 홀수 분해법을 활용하여 CCI에 대한 새로운 보간 방법을 제시한다. 제안된 방법의 성능을 검증하기 위해서 실험이 수행되었고 실험결과는 변형된 CCI 보간 방법이 복잡도를 줄임과 동시에 영상 화질을 개선할 수 있음을 보여 주었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 디지털 영상의 해상도를 부화소 기반의 새로운 적응적 선형보간법으로 변경하는 방법을 제안한다. 일반적 선형보간법에서 고정된 위치로 쓰이는 거리계수를 왜곡된 거리 계산에 의한 화소 가중치를 주는 방법으로 개선한다. 이를 계산하기 위하여 최소 평균 자승 에러(minimum mean square error, MMSE)를 이용한다. 원영상과의 차이를 최소화하는 왜곡 거리 계산을 위하여 이웃한 보간 화소와 왜곡거리를 참조하게 된다. 이를 사용하면 복잡도가 높지 않은 효과적인 화소 보간을 할 수 있고 실험 결과 일반적인 보간법과 비교할 때 PSNR(peak signal to noise ratio)과 주관적 화질 면에서 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, we propose a method obtaining an improved panoramic image with forward warping transformation and bilinear interpolation in recovering information lost during the transforming process. The proposed fish-eyed image restructuring method is verified to be sufficiently effective in the experiment with various forms of fish-eyed lens images.

Fast Multiple Mixed Image Interpolation Method for Image Resolution Enhancement (영상 해상도 개선을 위한 고속 다중 혼합 영상 보간법)

  • Image interpolation is a method of determining the value of new pixel coordinate in the process of image scaling. Recently, image contents are likely to be a large-capacity, interpolation algorithm is required to generate fast enhanced result image. In this paper, fast multiple mixed image interpolation for image resolution enhancement is proposed. The proposed method estimates expected 12 shortfalls from four sub-images of a input image, and generates the result image that is interpolated in the combination of the expected shortfalls with the input image. The experimental results demonstrate that PSNR increases maximum value of 1.9dB, SSIM increases maximum value of 0.052, and the subjective quality is superior to any other compared methods. Moreover, it is known by algorithm running time comparison that the proposed method has been at least three times faster than the compared conventional methods. The proposed method can be useful for application on image resolution enhancement.

Quality Improvement of Interpolated Image Using Weight-Granting Method Based on Median Values Of Local Area (국부 영역 중앙값 기반의 가중치 부여 방법을 이용한 보간 영상의 화질 개선)

  • Interpolation methods to get the magnified image from an image with low resolution use known pixels to make an interpolated pixel. This interpolation process usually generates blurred edges and blocking effect in the result image. To improve these defects, conventional methods multiply proper weights reflecting neighborhood pixels and add the values during interpolating process. The proposed method changes input pixels in consideration of information of neighborhood pixels, gets interpolated pixels by using these values and improves the quality of interpolated image. Firstly, we compute difference values of the diagonal directions of a pixel and classify flat regions and complex regions according to these values. If the regions is complex ones, the proposed method changes an original pixel into a new value using a input pixel and a median value of it's neighbor pixels. Therefore, the proposed method applies bilinear method to the original pixels in flat regions and the changed ones in complex regions and produces the interpolated images. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method with existing methods by using PSNR and the quality of enlarged image. The results show that the proposed method improves PSNR in comparing with conventional methods and that is superior to the existing methods in terms of the quality of the interpolated image.

An Image Resolution Enhancement Method Using Loss Information Estimation (손실 정보 추정을 이용한 영상 해상도 향상 기법)

  • An image interpolation is a basis technique for various image processing and is required to minimize approaches for image quality deterioration. In this paper, we propose an improved bilinear interpolation using loss information estimation. In the proposed algorithm, we estimate loss information of low resolution image using down-sampling and interpolation of acquisition low resolution. The estimated loss information is utilized interpolated image, and it decrease image quality deterioration. Our experiments obtained the average PSNR 0.97~1.79dB which is improved results better than conventional method for sensitive image quality. Also, subjective image quality with edge region is more clearness. The proposed method may be helpful for applications in various multimedia systems such as image resolution enhancement and image restoration.

  • The purpose of this paper is an adaptive image interpolation using parametric cubic convolution. Proposed method derive parameter of adapting the frequency from adjacent values. The parameter optimize the interpolation kernel of cubic convolution. Simulation results show that the proposed method is superior to the conventional method in terms of the subjective and objective image quality.
