PET Detector Design with a Small Number of Photo Sensors (적은 수의 광센서를 사용한 PET 검출기 설계)

  • The detector of the positron emission tomography (PET) is composed using a plurality of scintillation pixels and photo sensors. The use of multiple photo sensors increases cost and complicates signal processing. In this study, a detector with reduced cost and simple signal processing was designed using a small number of photo sensors. A scintillation pixel and a small number of photo sensors were used, and a optical guide was used to deliver light to all the photo sensors. A reflector is applied to the scintillation pixel and the optical guide to transmit the maximum amount of light to the photo sensor. A diffuse reflector and a specular reflector were used for the reflector, and a flood image was obtained by applying different thicknesses of the optical guide. An optimal combination was selected through comparative analysis of the acquired flood images. As a result, when specular reflectors were used for both the scintillation pixel and the optical guide, excellent flood images were obtained from optical guides of all thicknesses. For the optical guide, the optimal image was obtained when using a 3 mm thickness in consideration of the size of the image and the analysis of the point where the image of the scintillation pixel was formed.

Image Correction Method for Segmented Linear Detector (모듈로 구성된 선형 검출기의 영상보정 방법)

  • Linear detectors composed of several modules have been widely used in industrial in-line inspection. Two dimensional image obtained from the linear detector shows line artifact at the connection part of each module. In this study, we proposed a method to remove the line artifact using the flat-field correction and a wedge phantom image. Conventional flat-field correction has been applied to remove the artifact, however there are still line artifacts even after applying correction. It was found that two edge pixels at the connection part of two modules were over-corrected after the flat-field correction. Those edge pixels was corrected by using the correction factor obtained from an image of the wedge phantom, and images removed line artifacts were obtained. It is necessary to improve the method obtained manually the correction factor from the image of the wedge phantom.

  • 일반적으로 초음파현미경에서 획득한 초음파 영상은 단일 동작주파수를 사용하여 획득하였으며, 분해능은 동작주파수와 초음파변환기에 의해 결정되는 공간주파수 대역에 의하여 제한되어 졌다. 본 연구에서는 초음파현미경에서 동작주파수를 변화시키면서 획득한 영상들을 합성하여 공간주파수의 축 방향 대역을 확장시킨 개선된 고체 내부의 진폭영상을 얻는 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 실험에서는 동작주파수가 5MHz이고 비대역폭이 $35\%$인 초음파변환기를 사용하여 초음파현미경 시스템을 구성하였고, 이러한 처리를 위해서는 진폭과 위상영상 데이터가 필요하기 때문에 진폭과 위상을 동시에 획득할 수 있도록 검출기로서 쿼드러춰 검출기를 사용하였다. 시편으로는 알루미늄을 선택하였고, 시료의 표면으로부터 깊이를 다르게 하여 내부에 4개의 원형결함을 제작하였다. 실험결과 단일 주파수를 사용한 경우에는 결함의 형태는 나타났으나, 고체 내부 결함의 깊이와 영상 강도의 변화가 비례하여 나타나지 않는 반면에, 개선된 영상에서는 깊이 변화에 대해서 영상 강도의 변화가 비례하여 출력되었다.

  • 카메라로 입력되는 영상에서 객체를 인식하기 위한 노력은, 기존의 컴퓨터 비전분야에서 좋은 이슈로 연구되고 있다. 영상 내부에 등장하는 객체를 인식하고 해당 객체를 포함하고 있는 전체 이미지에서 현재 영상의 위치를 인식하기 위해서는, 영상 내에 등장할 객체에 대한 트레이닝이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 영상에 등장할 객체에 대해서, 특징 점을 검출(feature detection)하고 각 점들이 가지는 픽셀 그라디언트 방향의 벡터 값들을 그 이웃하는 벡터 값들과 함께 DoG(difference-of-Gaussian)함수를 이용하여 정형화 한다. 이는 추후에 입력되는 영상에서 검출되는 특징 점들과 그 이웃들 간의 거리나 스케일의 비율 등의 파리미터를 이용하여 비교함으로써, 현재 특징 점들의 위치를 추정하는 정보로 사용된다. 본 논문에서는 광역의 시설 단지를 촬영한 인공위성 영상을 활용하여 시설물 내부에 존재는 건물들에 대한 초기 특징 점들을 검출하고 데이터베이스로 저장한다. 트레이닝이 마친 후에는, 프린트된 인공위성 영상내부의 특정 건물을 카메라를 이용하여 촬영하고, 이 때 입력된 영상의 특징 점을 해석하여 기존에 구축된 데이터베이스 내의 특징 점과 비교하는 과정을 거친다. 매칭되는 특징 점들은 DoG로 정형화된 벡터 값들을 이용하여 해당 건물에 대한 위치를 추정하고, 3차원으로 기 모델링 된 건물을 증강현실 기법을 이용하여 영상에 정합한 후 가시화 한다.

  • 디지털 제품의 사용 증가로 직류를 사용하는 부하가 급증하고, 태양광발전 등 직류발전의 보급이 확대 되며 직류배전에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 기존 영상변류기(ZCT; Zero phase sequence Current Transformer)를 사용하여 누설전류를 감지하는 교류배전용 차단기는 영상변류기의 특성상 직류에서 적용이 불가능하다. 이에 따라 직류배전에서 누설전류에 의한 사고를 방지하기 위해서 누설전류를 검출하고 차단할 수 있는 장치 개발이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 직류에서 검출에 문제가 없는 Fluxgate current transducer를 이용하여 직류배전에서 사용 가능한 검출기를 개발하였다.

Degradation Monitoring of Visible Channel Detectors on COMS MI Using Moon Observation Images (달 관측 영상을 이용한 천리안위성 기상탑재체 가시채널 검출기의 성능감쇄 분석)

  • The first geostationary satellite in Korea, COMS (Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite), has been operating properly since its successful completion of the IOT (In Orbit Test). COMS MI (Meteorological Imager) acquires Earth observation images from visible and infrared channels. This paper describes a method to compute the degradation of the COMS visible detectors and the result of the degradation during the two years of the operation. The visible channel detectors' performance was determined based on the comparison between the instrument-based measurements and ROLO model-based values. The degradation rate of the visible channel detectors of COMS MI showed a normal condition.

  • Ubiquitous computing technology is emerging as information technology advances. In line with this, a number of studies are being carried out to increase device miniaturization and user convenience. Some of the proposed devices are user-friendly and uncomfortable with hand-held operation. To address these inconveniences, this paper proposed a virtual button that could be used in watching television. When watching a video on television, a camera is installed at the top of the TV, using the fact that the user watches the video from the front, so that the camera takes a picture of the top of the head. Extract the background and hand area separately from the filmed image, extract the outline to the extracted hand area, and detect the tip point of the finger. Detection of the end point of the finger produces a virtual button interface at the top of the image being filmed in front, and the button activates when the end point of the detected finger becomes a pointer and is located inside the button.

  • Digital radiographic systems based on solid-state detectors, commonly referred to as flat-panel detectors, are gaining popularity in clinical practice. Large area, flat panel solid state detectors are being investigated for digital radiography. The purpose of this work was to evaluate the active matrix flat panel digital x-ray detectors in terms of their modulation transfer function (MTF), noise power spectrum (NPS), and detective quantum efficiency (DQE). In this paper, development and evaluation of a selenium-based flat-panel digital x-ray detector are described. The prototype detector has a pixel pitch of $139\;{\mu}m$ and a total active imaging area of $14{\times}8.5\;inch^2$, giving a total 3.9 million pixels. This detector include a x-ray imaging layer of amorphous selenium as a photoconductor which is evaporated in vacuum state on a TFT flat panel, to make signals in proportion to incident x-ray. The film thickness was about $500\;{\mu}m$. To evaluate the imaging performance of the digital radiography(DR) system developed in our group, sensitivity, linearity, the modulation transfer function(MTF), noise power spectrum (NPS) and detective quantum efficiency(DQE) of detector was measured. The measured sensitivity was $4.16{\times}10^6\;ehp/pixel{\cdot}mR$ at the bias field of $10\;V/{\mu}m$ : The beam condition was 41.9\;KeV. Measured MTF at 2.5\;lp/mm was 52%, and the DQE at 1.5\;lp/mm was 75%. And the excellent linearity was showed where the coefficient of determination ($r^2$) is 0.9693.

  • Studies for counting and detecting X-rays for the improvement of image quality and material analysis are active. In this work, the detector for X-ray photon counting was designed using Multi-pixel photon counter (MPPC) array and the detector characteristics were evaluated through simulation. Geant4 Application for Tomographic Emission (GATE) was used to obtain the position where the X-ray and the scintillation interacted, and this position was used as the light generation position of DETECT2000. 0.5 mm and 1 mm thick Gadolinium Aluminium Gallium Garnet (GAGG) scintillators were used and the light generated through a $4{\times}4$ array of MPPCs was acquired. The spatial resolution of the designed detector was evaluated by reconstructed image using the light signal acquired for each channel. We obtained images of more than 2 lp/mm in both 0.5 mm and 1 mm thick GAGG scintillation. When this detector is used in a X-ray system, a low-cost system capable of photon counting can be made.

Matching Of Feature Points using Dynamic Programming (동적 프로그래밍을 이용한 특징점 정합)

  • In this paper we propose an algorithm which matches the corresponding feature points between the reference image and the search image. We use Harris's corner detector to find the feature points in both image. For each feature point in the reference image, we can extract the candidate matching points as feature points in the starch image which the normalized correlation coefficient goes greater than a threshold. Finally we determine a corresponding feature points among candidate points by using dynamic programming. In experiments we show results that match feature points in synthetic image and real image.
