Study of Revitalizing of Daegu International Airport (대구국제공항 활성화 방안에 관한 연구)

  • Due to the continuous expansion of the highway, the opening of the high-speed railway(KTX), etc, the demands of domestic air transport decreasing. In the circumstances, airports and local governments are spending themselves in taking a measure to activate local airports. In this aspect, this study seeks the smooth flow of human movement through the activation of Daegu International Airport by analyzing the present condition of Daegu International Airport in relation to the appearance of the high-speed railway, deducing plans for activating airports, and presenting the roadmaps for long-, mid- and short-term roles for the development of Daegu Airport, and Presents substantial fulfilling plans to secure the competitive power of Daegu International Airport by speeding up the flow of air goods of the area for the long run. It is suggested in the study that by setting up an organization exclusively responsible for activating Daegu International Airport in the city of Daegu, supporting local travel agencies to promote consistent demands, supporting aviation companies to employ Daegu International Airport as a major air base, establishing airlines with priority for airports that open newly in local cities of Japan and establishing and expanding airlines in China areas be promoted actively. Ministry of Construction & Transportation makes it a means of main airport Policy to only support Incheon International Airport to be a hub. However not only Incheon International Airport should be an amok representing the country, but also the wide Metropolitan area should supply the demands, and airports based in the West and East Coast areas need to be developed in the future. It is suggested that since air demands of domestic local airports are based on the demands of the of gin destination in neighboring region, multiple bases need to be developed. It is suggested that by developing not 1 in mega hub (Incheon International Airport) but 1 in mega hub. 2 in regional hub (the West and East Coast) and Jeju foy the tourism hub in our developing airports system.

Population of Laodelphax striatellus, Percentage of Rice Black-streaked Dwarf Virus(RBSDV) Viruliferous Vector and RBSDV Infection of Maize in Different Locations (지역별 애멸구 발생양상과 옥수수 흑조위축병 발생)

  • Seasonal population changes in Laodelphax striatellus Fallen (small brown planthopper), percentage of rice black-streaked dwarf virus (RBSDV) viruliferous L. striatellus, and RBSDV infection of 11 corn hybrids were observed at various locations and years. The population size of L. striatellus was relatively small in the middle parts of Korea, but it was much greater in the southern areas. The population size of the first generation of adult L. striatellus emerged from late April to early May was similar or smaller compared with that of the second generation emerged in middle June in the middle parts of Korea. However, in the southern areas the population size of second generation was much greater than the first generation. The percentage of RBSDV viruliferous L. striatellus differed depending on the years, locations, and testing methods. The percentage of viruliferous vector was highest in southern plain areas and it tended to decrease with distance from the areas. The percentage of viruliferous vectors tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was higher than that tested by rice seedling test. The RBSDV infection rate of corn hybrids was highest at Daegu and ranged from 9 to 39% probably due to both a higher L. striatellus population and a higher percentage of viruliferous vectors. However, it was significantly lower in other areas and ranged from 0 to 13%.

Assessment of Perirenal Fat Infiltration in Renal Cell Carcinoma by CT (CT에 의한 신세포암의 신주위 지방층 침윤의 평가)

  • Forty-two preoperative CT scans with renal cell carcinoma were reviewed and compared with pathologic findings to evaluate the differential points between stage I and II. Regardless of whole body staging, perirenal fat infiltrations were seen in 9 cases and the other 33 cases showed no infiltration onto perirenal fat tissue. We retrospectively reviewed them by comparing tumor size and CT findings, following three view points, lobulating contour of tumor margin, thickening of Gerota's fascia and strands in perirenal fat tissue. The size of them was 2-15 cm, size of the stage I tumors was 2-15 cm and that of stage II was 6-15 cm. In stage I(n=33), 25 cases(76%) showed smooth margin, and the others(n=8) showed lobulating contours. Thickening of Gerota's fascia was observed in 7 cases(21%) and strands in perirenal fat tissue in 14(42%). Of these, only one positive finding was seen in 7 cases(21%), 2 findings in 6(18%), 3 findings in 3 (9%) and nothing in 17cases(51%). In stage II(n=9), 3 cases(34%) showed smooth margin, and the others(n=6) showed lobulating contours. Thickening of Gerota's fascia were observed in 5 cases(55%) and strands in perirenal fat tissue in 9(100%). Of these, one finding was seen in 2 cases(22%), 2 findings in 3(33%), 3 findings in 4 (44%). In conclusion, it is insufficient to evaluate the perirenal fat infiltration in renal cell carcinoma with only one positive finding of 3 view points; lobulation of tumor margin, thickening of Gerota's fascia, strands in perirenal fat tissue. But if all these findings are shown, it is helpful to determinate perirenal fat infiltration of renal cell carcinoma.

Effect of Mulching Materials on Growth and Agronomic Characteristics of Angelica gigas in Southern Area (남부지방에서 피복재료가 참당귀(Angelica gigas Nakai)의 생육과 주요 형질에 미치는 영향)

  • In an effort to produce high quality Angelica gigas in the southern area of Korea, a variety of mulching materials were used to prevent withering during the summer. The experimental results are summarized as follows. Soil water content and temperature under various mulching materials were higher than those without mulching, in all the cases studied. Among various mulching materials P. E.(polyethylene) mulching material showed the highest effect. The appearance of weeds was the lowest when using the black P. E. mulching, while growth of weeds was the greatest when using transparent mulching. Growth and development of the plant were better with P. E. mulching than straw mulching or no mulching, allowed for more and bigger leaves. The bolting rate was about 2∼5%, with a slightly larger value under P. E. mulching. Under P. E. mulching, probably due to good physical properties of the soil the number of roots was large, and the length and diameter were good. Active growth of roots under P. E. mulching resulted in a yield increase of the plant. The black P. E. mulching material showed a prominent effect on suppression of weed growth, and the black P. E. material was considered to be the most recommendable among various P. E. mulching materials when there is a lack of labor.

Morphologic Change of Rat Liver Induced by Repeated Administration of Carbon Tetrachloride and Dimethylnitrosamine (사염화탄소와 Dimethylnitrosamine의 반복투여가 백서간의 형태학적 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • Carbon tetrachloride and Dimethylnitrosamine, both potent hepatotoxic agents, affect the hepatic lobules with fatty changes and central necrosis, and hemorrhagic necrosis. To study the effects on morphologic changes of the hepatic lobules in cases of single and repeated treatment of both hepatotoxins, sublethal doses of carbon tetrachloride, 0.4ml/kg, and dimethylnitrosamine, 40mg/kg of rats were given intraperitoneally single, twice and triple. With interval of 3 days, and the results were as follows : 1. The fatty changes and central necrosis of the hepatic lobules were milder and more quickly disappeared in the rats with twice or triple treatment than single administration of carbon tetrachloride, and regenerative changes of hepatic and sinusoidal cells achieved fater in the rats with repeated administration of carbon tetrachloride than those with single treatment. 2. The hemorrhagic necrosis of the hepatic lobules was not significantly influenced by the times of DMN treatment, but the hyperplastic changes showed more active to animals, with multiple administration of DMN.

Industrial Cluster Policies of the Korean Government in the Early 2000s: The Case of Daejeon (지방 차원의 산업 클러스터 정책: 대전광역시를 사례로)

  • To tackle the problem of regional economic and social disparities in Korea, the government of Roh, Mu-Hyun(2003-2007), launched a series of radical policies and programs to decentralize administrative activities of the capital region and stimulate economic growth in less developed regions, based on regional innovation systems and industrial cluster concepts. This paper highlights the Roh government's approach to reducing regional disparities, and makes some comments on the innovation cluster strategy by investigating the realities appearing in a major city, Daejeon. It concludes that many ministries of the Roh government created various competing, undifferentiated programs that were assigned too much money and energy, and drained resources from other governmental activities. In fact, very few programs show positive signs of achieving the goals of innovation in less developed regions, balancing the growth gaps between well-off regions and the rest of Korea, and generating overall economic growth for the country.

  • It is important for regional comparative analysis about economically active population ratio by sex and total economically active population ratio to a policy data of central and local government. Through the result of comparative analysis, Central and local government can use policies distinctively according to the region and keep the efficiency of detail policy application. This paper shows regional comparative analysis about economically active population ratio by sex for the Seoul metropolitan region, Gangwon region, Chungcheong region, Youngnam region, Honam region using the economically active population survey data in 16 cities and provinces. We used the survey of economically active population for 13 years from 2000 to 2012, we calculated total economically active population ratio and economically active population ratio by sex about the 5 regions. And we analyzed the relative ratio between economically active population ratio of male and female by each region, we also analyzed the results of regional comparative analysis by sex.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the degree of acid tolerance of indigenous Rhizobium in natural soils, and to select the superior Rhizobia for legume forage on hilly land. 153 Rhizobial strains isolated from two host genera, Medicago and Trifolium in the pastures of Yeongnam area were screened on acidic agar plates. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The degrees of acid tolerance of R. meliloti and R. trifolii were ranged from 4.3 to pH 5.5 and from 4.0 to pH 5.5 respectively. 2. Among acid tolerant Rhizobia isolates, two strains of R. meliloti at pH 4.3 and three strains of R. trifolii at pH 4.0 were shown to have the activities of nodulation and nitrogenase. 3. R. trifolii strains were shown to survive about 80 to 99% at the pH range 4.8 to 5.0, while R. meliloti were about 35 to 47% at that pH range. Therefore, more acid tolerant R. meliloti should be developed for legume forage in Korean hilly land.

A Case Study on the Continuous Quality Improvement for Leadership Outcomes Education in Yeungnam University (영남대학교 리더십 학습성과 교육 CQI 방안에 대한 연구)

  • The objective of the current study is to establish the CQI procedure of leadership outcome education, which is emphasized in engineering education accreditation. Leadership includes many program outcomes, especially soft skills, such as communication skill, team work skill, and etc. This paper studied leadership education program in Yeungnam University. In particular, this research was conducted by using focus group interviews with experts and working level staffs of relevant organizations for the analysis of Yeungnam University curriculum and non-curriculum courses related to leadership education and for the preparation of leadership education CQI method. In addition, we conducted leadership competence diagnosis, leadership education demand survey and satisfaction level survey on the leadership camp participants. Interviews with experts, lecturers and focus group of Dale Carnegie Research Institute Daegu branch that administered the progress of leadership camp were conducted along with analysis of education contents through non-participation observation method during camp period and participant students interviews. The conclusions are summed up as follows: To educate global leaders in true meaning, first, psychological level competence strengthening method and study completing ability improvement method should be considered simultaneously. In particular, for non-capital region universities, emphasis should be given to education for self-confidence and vision establishment. Second, leadership education methods of mid/long term and systematic curricular and extra-curricular type should be pursued. For instance, with the use of engineering design subject completing system, leadership education can be consolidated to engineering subject courses with engineering design projects or the system of mentor-pupil among earlier leadership camp participants and later participants may be utilized. Third, it is determined necessary to pursue and realize practical methods of conducting various intramural leadership related education activities in mid/long term perspective by organizing leadership education advisory group consisting of major, departments and intramural and extramural relevant organization authorities that focus on leadership education.
