To increase the heat transfer rate of the air pre-heating heat exchanger used for the condensing boiler, We investigated condensation heat transfer coefficients through plasma surface treatment. The hydrophilic surface showed about 10% increase in heat transfer rate than original plate. It shows that Shah correlation can be used to predict the condensation heat transfer coefficient on the original surface within 10% error range after the compatison between Shah correlation and the condensation heat transfer coefficients measured on the hydrophilic surface and original surface. Therefore, we have shown that Shah correlation is available when designing the air pre-heating heat exchanger using the original surface in this study.

In this study, external condensation heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) of two non-azeotropic refrigerant mixtures of HFC32/HFC152a at various compositions were measured on both 26 fpi low-fin and Turbo-C enhanced tubes, of 19.0 mm outside diameter. All data were taken at the vapor temperature of $39^{\circ}C$, with a wall subcooling of 3~8 K. Test results showed that the HTCs of the tested mixtures on the enhanced tubes were much lower than the ideal values calculated by mass fraction weighting of the pure component HTCs. Also, the reduction of HTCs due to the diffusion vapor film was much larger than that of a plain tube. Unlike HTCs of pure fluids, HTCs of the mixtures measured on enhanced tubes increased, as the wall subcooling increased, which was due to the sudden break-up of the vapor diffusion film with an increase in wall subcooling. Finally, the heat transfer enhancement ratios for mixtures were found to be much lower, than those of pure fluids.

Since experiments on the actual operational status are said to be very impractical because of their economic and repeatability problems, it is difficult to understand the thermal profiles of aerospace or military equipments. Thus, the CFD codes with considering the radiation heat transfer are used to compensate the defect. In case, analyzing the radiation exchanges between the object surfaces are very important. Because the temperature and the IR signal distributions of the object surface are significantly affected by the radiative heat transfer. To achieve accurate thermal radiation exchange between surfaces, it is important to calculate the radiation view factor precisely. Finer subdivision of meshes can be used to increase the accuracy of radiation view factor, but if the mesh is subdivided infinitely, the time required for calculation increases significantly and thus decreasing the efficiency. If the subdivision is not sufficient, assurance of accuracy is not guaranteed. In this paper, optimal mesh subdivision method using the solid angle has been successfully tested and found to be useful in increasing the efficiency of calculating the shape factors.

The condensation heat transfer coefficients of pure refrigerants R-22, R-134a, and a binary refrigerant mixture R-410A flowing in a small diameter tube were investigated. The experiment apparatus consists of a refrigerant loop and a water loop. The main components of the refrigerant loop consist of a variable-speed pump, a mass flowmeter, an evaporator, and a condenser(test section). The water loop consists of a variable-speed pump, an isothermal tank, and a flowmeter. The condenser is a counterflow heat exchanger with refrigerant flowing in the inner tube and water flowing in the annulus. The test section consists of smooth, horizontal copper tube of 3.38mm outer diameter and 1.77mm inner diameter. The length of test section is 1220mm. The refrigerant mass fluxes varied from 450 to 1050kg/(㎡$.$s) and the average inlet and outlet qualities were 0.05 and 0.95, respectively. The main results were summarized as follows ; in the case of single-phase flow, the heat transfer coefficients increase with increasing mass flux. The heat transfer coefficient of R-410A was higher than that of R-22 and R-134a, and the heat transfer for small diameter tubes were about 20% to 27% higher than those predicted by Gnielinski. In the case of two-phase flow, the heat transfer coefficients also increase with increasing mass flux and quality. The condensation heat transfer coefficient of R-410A was slightly higher than that of R-22 and R-134a. Most of correlations proposed in the large diameter tube showed significant deviations with experimental data except for the ranges of low quality and low mass flux.

Vehicle washer heater system is more widely adopted to defrost a window or to clear the windshield glass in winter season. The washer heater system should be designed to heat up washer fluid rapidly to the target temperature for only a short time. A numerical analysis has been carried out to analyze the heat transfer characteristics with materials of inside parts in vehicle washer heater system with filler and flow path. ANSYS - FLUENT software is employed for the analysis. The axial symmetry model is three-dimensional and unsteady. It applies to the coupled method which is one of pressure based. Through this result, it was obtained to find the optimal material condition for the filler and flow path in washer system. For material of filler, the air with lower density was heated more rapidly rather than silicon carbide(SiC). For material of flow path, copper with the heat transfer coefficient of approximately four times greater than the nickel gives us higher efficiency. That is the reason why the heating time of methanol was reduced to make uniform temperature in washer heater system.
The present paper deals with an experimental study of boiling heat transfer characteristics of R-290, and is focused on pressure gradient and heat transfer coefficient of the refrigerant flow inside horizontal smooth minichannel with inner diameter of 3.0 mm and length of 2000 mm. The direct heating method applied for supplying heat to the refrigerant where the test tube was uniformly heated by electric current which was applied to the tube wall. The experiments were conducted with R-290 with purity of 99.99% at saturation temperature of 0 to $10^{\circ}C$. The range of mass flux is $50{\sim}250kg/m^2s$ and heat flux is $5{\sim}20kW/m^2$. The heat transfer coefficients of R-290 increases with increasing mass flux and saturation temperature, wherein the effect of mass flux is higher than that of the saturation temperature, whereas the heat flux has a low effect on increasing heat transfer coefficient. The significant effect of mass flux on heat transfer coefficient is shown at high quality, the effect of heat flux on heat transfer coefficient at low quality shows a domination of nucleate boiling contribution. The heat transfer coefficient of the experimental result was compared with six existing heat transfer coefficient correlation. Zang et al.'s correlation(2004) gave the best prediction of heat transfer coefficient.
The physical shape of an ultrasound transducer has not been considered in previous studies of the photoacoustic saturation effect, where a photoacoustic signal's magnitude linearly increases as an absorption coefficient increases and it is finally saturated. In this paper, the effect of a spherically focused ultrasound transducer on photoacoustic nonlinearity is investigated. The focused ultrasound transducer's spatial filtering effect on photoacoustic signals is analytically derived considering the combined concept of a virtual point detector and Green function approach. The ultrasound transducer's temporal response (i.e., transfer function) effect on photoacoustic signals is considered by integrating photoacoustic signal values within the absorption area covered by a spatial resolution of the ultrasound transducer. Results from the analytically derived expression show that the magnitude of photoacoustic signals measured by a spherical focused ultrasound transducer shows a maximum at a specific absorption coefficient, and decreases after that maximum point as an absorption coefficient is increased. The origin of this photoacoustic nonlinearity is physically understood by comparing the ultrasound transducer's transfer functions and photoacoustic resonance spectra. In addition, this physical interpretation implies that the photoacoustic nonlinearity is strongly dependent on the irradiance distribution inside an absorption medium.

This report Introduces a total heat exchanger in a solar air-conditioning system using Lithium Chloride(LiCl) solution. The hot and humid outside air is cooled and dehumidified by LiCl solution that is sprayed on the packed layer of the total heat exchanger. LiCl solution once diluted is concentrated again in a regenerator using solar energy. Three types as the packed materials were used in this experiment and the dehumidification performance was evaluated by the value of $k_xa(kg/h{\cdot}m^3{\cdot}{\Delta}x)$, overall mass transfer coefficient based on a humidity ratio potential difference, the influence of inlet LiCl solution flow rate, air flow rate, packed layer height on $k_xa$ was investigated. It was found that air flow rate, LiCl solution flow rate, packed layer height for all types had a great influnce on the value of $k_xa$.

The comparative analysis of near-wall treatment methods that affect the prediction of heat transfer over the gas turbine nozzle guide vane were presented. To achieve this objective, wall-function and low Reynolds number methods, and the transition model were applied and simulated using NASA's C3X turbine vane. The predicted turbine vane surface pressure distribution data using the near-wall treatment methods were found to be in close agreement with experimental data. However, the predicted vane metal temperature and heat transfer coefficient displayed significant differences. Overall, the low Reynolds method and transition model did not offer specific advantages in the prediction of temperature and heat transfer than did the wall-function method. The Reynolds stress model used along with the wall-function method resulted in a relatively high accuracy of prediction of the vane metal temperature and heat transfer coefficient.

이러한 결과는 현장에서 접촉수의 pH가 강산이나 강염기라 하여도, 고화체의 buffering 효과에 의해 시간이 지남에 따라 수용액의 pH가 낮아져 고화체로부터의 중금속 용출은 매우 감소할 것임을 의미한다.ss of an active application defined using the model.
