Morphology and Thermal Properties of PPS/ABS Blends (PPS/ABS 블렌드의 형태학적/열적 특성)

  • In this study, the PPS/ABS blend system was investigated in order to collectively identify the relationship among blend morphology, chemical compatibilization and thermal property. ABS resin was chemically modified by the incorporation of maleic anhydride through reactive extrusion for enhanced compatibilization, and PPS, ABS and the modified ABS were blend by a sing twin screw extruder. The effect of chemical modification of ABS on the morphological, mechanical, and thermal properities of the resulting blend was examined. A strong interaction was observed between PPS and MABS by optical microsopy as well as scanning electron microscopy, exhibiting a well-dispersed morphological feature. The PPS/MABS blend showing a single glass transition temperature was observed in dynamic mechanical analysis, demonstrating a pseudo-homogeneous phase morphology induced by chemical compatibilization. PPS/MABS blend also exhibited an enhanced thermal stability and heat distortion temperature compared with modified PPS/ABS blend.

  • Thermal properties, flame retardant property, and sound-damping properties of polyurethane (PU) nanocomposite foams prepared with oligomeric 1,2-propanediol isobutyl polyhedral silsesquioxane (POSS) were investigated. It was found that the PU nanocomposite foams showed good sound-damping performances comparing to the PU foams without POSS.

  • The effect of dispersion agent, the content and size of nanoparticle on the mechanical and thermal properties has been investigated in $TiO_2$ nanoparticle/epoxy resin composites(nanocomposites). The weight fraction of fabricated nanocomposites were 0, 1, 3, 5%, respectively. The glass transition temperature was lower than pure epoxy resin and decreased with the increasing of nanopaticle content. This is considered that the cross link of epoxy resin during solidification was hindered by the presence of nanoparticles. Nanocomposites of 3wt% content with dispersion agent showed the best tensile strength. The tensile strength of 20㎚ $TiO_2$ nanocomposites were higher than one of 200nm $TiO_2$ nanocomposites.

  • The copolyester was prepared by melt polycondensation varying the amount of ethylene glycol(EG) and pentanediol from terephthalic acid(TPA), EG and pentanediol isomers were. used as the third monomer. The chemical structure and the compositions of the copolyester were determined by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Thermal properties were investigated with the aid of differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analyzer.

  • 형상기억합금 선(Shape Memory Alloy Fibers : SMA Fibers)을 삽입한 복합재료 평판의 고온 환경에서의 열적 좌굴 및 진동 해석을 유한요소법을 이용하여 수행하였다 1 차 전단변형이론을 적용하여 적층판을 모델링하였고, 온도 변화 효과는 적층판의 전 영역에서 균일한 온도 분포로 가정하였다. 형상기억합금 선의 온도에 대한 비선형 재료 성질을 고려하여 열적 좌굴 해석 수행 시 반복 계산법을 이용하였고, 자유 진동 해석에서는 시스템의 자유도를 줄이기 위하여 Guyan-Reduction(CR)을 사용하였다. 온도 변화와 형상기억합금 선의 체적비(volume fraction) 및 초기 변형률(initial strain) 변화에 따른 임계 온도와 고유 진동수의 특성을 해석하였다.
