Effect of Inorganic Salt Additives in Preparation of Polyethersulfone Phase Inversion Membrane (Polyethersulfone 상변환막 제조시 무기염 첨가 효과)

  • 1. 서론 : 막 분리공정에 사용되고 있는 대부분의 고분자 막들은 침지침강(immersion precipitation) 상변환법에 의해 제조되고 있다. 침지침강 상변환법으로 제조된 막의 최종 구조는 고분자 캐스팅 용액의 열역학적 특성과 비용매와의 속도론적 특성에 따라 대칭형 또는 비대칭형 막구조를 갖게 된다. 고분자/용매로 이루어진 캐스팅 용액에 제3의 성분으로서 PVP, PEG, LiCl. ZnCl$_2$ 와 같은 유.무기물을 첨가시킴으로서 막구조 및 투과성능을 변화시킬 수 있다. 이러한 점에서 이들 첨가제를 pore-forming agent라 부르기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 상대적으로 열적.기계적 특성이 우수하고, 화학약품에 대한 안정성이 뛰어나 상변환 막의 소재물질로서 널리 사용되고 있는 Polyethersulfone(PES)을 막 소재 물질로 사용하여 PES/NMP 캐스팅 용액에 다양한 종류의 무기염[CaCl$_2$, LiCl, LiClO$_4$, Mg(ClO$_4)_2$, ZnCl$_2$]을 PES에 대한 중량비를 달리하여 첨가시켜 비대칭 막을 제조하여 무기염의 첨가가 막구조 형성 및 막투과 특성에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 이때 첨가된 무기염 및 첨가 중량비에 따른 영향을 PES/NMP/Salt 계의 coagulation value, light transmittance, 점도 등의 열역학 및 속도론적 특성으로서 설명하였다.

  • The chaacterisitics of a commercial membrance-coverd electrode in air-saturated saline solution were investigated in terms of a steadystate one-dimensional model. The electrode system miiersed in an aqueous medium consists of three layers: an external concentration boundary layer, a membrance, and an inner electrolyte layer. The membrance can be permeabld to the water and impermeable to the ionic species. In stationary midium, the water migrates from the external medium to the inner electrolyte layer until a thermodynamic equilibrium is reached. In a following midium, however, there is a reverse direction of water movement due to the hyrodynamic pressure differential until both thickness of the electrolyte layer and the membrance are equal.

  • Titanium hydride potassium perchlorate (THPP) has played an important role as initiators of the propulsion system. However, the 'aging' may cause performance degradation and even give rise to a failure in the total system. In this study, various hygrothermal aging conditions were considered and the aging effects on thermodynamic and ignition characteristics of THPP are provided via thermal analysis and ignition measurements. Also, physical-chemical changes were identified by morphological analysis. In conclusion, thermal aging led to Eα decrease-high reactivity due to oxidizer decomposition whereas hygrothermal aging gave rise to an opposite tendency by fuel oxidation.

  • The characteristics of hydro-reactive metal fuel(HRF) propellant on motor performances such as specific impulse and chamber temperature were analyzed by thermodynamic calculation methods. The thermal analysis and burning rate experiments of HRF propellants were also carried out for studying effects of metal fuels on combustion properties.

  • Polyolefin block copolymer has been taking a great deal of attention due to their great potential in polymer industry since a new metallocene catalytic method for producing polyolefin block copolymer was developed by Dow Chemicals. However, so far, there was no systematic study of olefin block copolymer. In this review, Linear polyolefin block copolymers, containing semicrystalline poly (ethylene) (E) blocks and a rubbery block as a thermoplastic elastomer, were investigated in the viewpoint of microphase separation mode, microstructure, deformation behavior, and molecular architecture.

  • The kinetics and thermodynamics of the adsorption of acid blue 40 from an aqueous solution by activated carbon were examined as a function of the activated carbon dose, pH, temperature, contact time, and initial concentration. The adsorption efficiency in a bathtub was increased at pH 3 and pH 11 due to the presence of sufonate ions ($SO_3{^-}$) and amine ions ($NH_2{^+}$). The equilibrium adsorption data were fitted to the Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherms. The results indicated that the Langmuir model provides the best correlation of the experimental data. The separation factor of the Langmuir and Freundlich model showed that the adsorption treatment of acid blue 40 by activated carbon could be an effective adsorption process. The adsorption energy determined by the Temkin equation showed that the adsorption step is a physical adsorption process. Kinetics analysis of the adsorption process of acid blue 40 on activated carbon showed that a pseudo second order kinetic model is more consistent than a pseudo second order kinetic model. The estimated activation energy was 42.308 kJ/mol. The enthalpy change (80.088 J/mol) indicated an endothermic process. The free energy change (-0.0553 ~ -5.5855 kJ/mol) showed that the spontaneity of the process increased with increasing adsorption temperature.

  • In order to investigate the operating conditions and major design parameters of a dual ramjet propulsion system, an theoretical analysis of ramjet and scramjet propulsion systems was performed. The performance characteristics of each engine are delivered by thermo-dynamical cycle analysis, considering loss effects in a real engine. The performance sensitivity analysis is conducted by investigating various performance parameters, such as an intake efficiency, combustor inlet Mach number, configuration of the combustor, fuel flow rate, and exhaust nozzle efficiency. Based on these analysis results, the processes of application to dual ramjet cycle engines are specified.

  • 최근 수송기기 및 전자부품산업에서의 성능향상 요구에 따라 경량고강도 비철금속재료의 수요가 증대되고 있다. 특히, 세계적으로 에너지 절약 및 환경 공해 규제가 대폭 강화됨에 따라 자동차, 항공기 등 수송기기의 소재경량화 소재로 낮은 밀도 기계적 가공성이 우수한 마그네슘 합금이 각광을 받고 있다. 그러나 Mg합금은 알루미늄 합금과는 달리 보호성 산화피막이 형성되지 않아 내식성 및 고온강도가 매우 취약하다. 이를 보안하기 위해서 본 연구에서는 마그네슘의 강도 개선을 위한 원소로써 고용강화 원소로 많이 쓰이는 Zn과 입자 미세화로 인한 항복강도를 증가시키는 Mn의 3원계 합금에 고온에서 안정한 Mg2Sn상이 형성되는 Sn을 첨가하여 시효처리에 따른 기계적 특성과 미세조직을 관찰하였다. 실험 이전에 Pandat Program에 의한 열역학적 분석을 바탕으로 Mg-Zn-Mn 및 Mg-Zn-Mn-Sn의 상태도 계산 및 MgZn와 Mg2Sn 석출분율을 예측하였다. 열역학 계산을 통해 도출된 석출온도를 통해 Mg-Zn-Mn 및 Mg-Zn-Mn-Sn 합금의 열처리에 따른 경도 및 미세구조를 관찰하였다. 또한, 기계적 특성을 평가하기 위해 상온 및 고온 인장시험을 실시하였고 XRD, SEM을 이용하여 석출상을 분석하였다.

  • New type of metal hydride heat pump (MHHP) combined with hydrogen compressor was constucted for cooling purpose. A model for calculating the coefficient of performance (COP) is presented for MHHP which consisted of two different stages (enforced and natural stage), and compared with the experimental results. A concept of adiabatic compression work is introduced in the model on the basis of Carnot reversible analysis and the dependence of COP on the various operational parameters is discussed.
