  • This study was to draw a retentive concrete pavement that can reduce urban heat island which has become intensified according to the increase of buildings and paved roads. It used bottom ash, an industrial by-product that has retentive effect, as a replacement of fine aggregate. Meanwhile, in order to improve the decline of dynamic performance caused by bottom ash replacement, we manufactured specimen that metakaolin was added and we studied the characteristics of durable, ecological and retentive concrete through various experiments.

Evaluation of the Effect of Urban-agriculture on Urban Heat Island Mitigation (도시농업의 도시열섬현상 저감효과에 대한 계량화 평가연구)

  • Vegetation can make not only to lower the urban ambient air temperature (UAAT) by crop evapotranspiration (ET) and increasing solar radiation albedo, but also to reduce the urban air pollution by $CO_2$ uptake and $O_2$ emission in addition to the reducing ozone concentrations by aid of lower the UAAT. To evaluate the effect of vegetation on urban heat island mitigation (UHIM), the climate change of 6 cities during 30 years are analysed, and the amount of ET, $CO_2$ uptake, $O_2$ emission and ozone concentrations are estimated in Korea. The most hot season is the last part of July and the first part of August, and the highest average UAAT of a period of ten days was $35.03^{\circ}C$ during 30 years (1979 - 2008). The mean values of maximum ET of rice and soybean in urban area during urban heat island phenomena were 6.86 and $6.00mm\;day^{-1}$, respectively. The effect of rice and soybean cultivation on lowering the UAAT was assessed to be 10.5 and $3.0^{\circ}C$ in Suwon, respectively, whereas the differences between the UAAT and canopy temperature at urban paddy and upland in Ansung were 2.6 and $2.2^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, the urban-garden in Suwon city had resulted in lowering the UAAT and the surface temperature of buildings to 2.0 and $14.5^{\circ}C$, respectively. Furthermore, the amounts of $CO_2$ uptake by rice and soybean were estimated to be 20.27 and $15.54kg\;CO_2\;10a^{-1}day^{-1}$, respectively. The amounts of $O_2$ emission by rice and soybean were also assessed to be 14.74 and $11.30kg\;O_2\;10a^{-1}day^{-1}$, respectively. As other cleaning effect of air pollution, the ozone concentrations could be also estimated to reduce 21.0, 8.8, and 4.0 ppb through rice-, soybean cultivation, and urban gardening during most highest temperature period in summer, respectively.

  • 도심 속 하천과 그 주변 지역(이하 수변)은 물과 자연환경이 주는 정서적 안정감과 쾌적함, 그리고 건강성을 대표하는 공간으로 도심 속 쉼터이자 힐링의 장소이다. 최근 수변이 도시경관의 질향상, 휴식 및 여가 공간 제공의 기능뿐만 아니라 열섬효과 완화 등 기후변화 대응에 효과가 있다는 사실도 재조명되면서, 수변이 도시의 발전과 활성화를 이끌어낼 새로운 동력이자 대안으로 급부상하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 서울의 4대 권역하천인 중랑천, 탄천, 안양천, 홍제천을 대상으로 하천과 하천 주변 500m 이내 구역을 하천공간과 수변공간으로 구분하고, 그 현황과 특성을 분석하였다. 하천(제방)으로부터 50m 이내 수변공간에 위치한 도로면적의 비율은 탄천이 40%로 가장 높았으며, 그 외에도 중랑천은 31%, 홍제천과 안양천은 28%로 하천변 도로면적비가 매우 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 특히, 중랑천은 하천공간 내 도로면적이 하천변 50m 이내에 위치한 도로의 면적과 비슷한 수준으로 나타났다.안양천, 중랑천, 탄천 대부분의 구간에서는 친수활동을 하기엔 다소 수심이 낮고(0.3m 이하) 유속이 느린 것(0.3m/s 이하)으로 분석되었고, 수질은 대부분의 구간에서 대장균 군수가 기준치를 수십에서 수백 배 초과하고 있어, 최상류 일부 구간을 제외한 전 구간에서 수영·물놀이 등 수상활동이 부적합한 것으로 분석되었다. 서울시민들은 주로 금요일과 토요일, 오후 12시에서 18시 사이에 하천을 가장 많이 방문하며 평균 2시간 정도를 머물렀으며, 대부분 걷기와 산책 활동을 하는 것으로 조사되었다. 도보, 대중교통 등 교통수단에 따른 하천진출입로 인근평균인구 대비 접근 가능 인구비율을 산출하여 접근성을 분석한 결과, 중랑천과 홍제천에서는 수변지역 내 평균인구의 20~30%가 도보 및 대중교통으로 20~30분 이내에 도달 가능한 것으로 분석되어 접근성이 가장 우수하였고, 안양천은 수변지역 내 평균인구의 15~20%가 30분 이내 도달가능하였으며, 탄천은 수변지역 내 평균인구의 10%미만이 30분 내에 도달가능한 것으로 분석되어 탄천의 접근성이 가장 열악한 것으로 나타났다.

Development of Eco-Concrete Block Consider of Infiltration Effect (투수효과를 고려한 친환경 콘크리트 블록 개발)

  • 최근 도시화에 따른 인구증가와 더불어 도로포장 등 불투수면적의 증가로 인하여 우기시 빗물 침투가 차단되어 도심의 지하수위가 저하되며 토양의 건토화, 열섬현상 등의 문제가 발생하게 되었다. 이러한 문제점에 착안하여 본 연구에서는 투수효과를 최대한 고려할 수 있는 고강도의 친환경 콘크리트 블록(에크스톤 바이오 블록; ECOSTONE-BIO BLOCK)을 개발하였으며 기존 콘크리트 블록의 자연적 빗물침투 억제의 문제점을 일부 개선하였다. 본 블록은 캡슐공법을 사용하여, 공극률은 높이면서(투수성 향상), 강도와 내구성이 유지됨은 물론 캡슐안에 황토성분을 첨가하여, 바이오적인 기능 및 재생골재를 이용한 친환경적 제품으로 투수성, 내구성, 기능성을 극대화 시켰다. 또한 제품표면은 천연 백색돌맹이, 흑색돌맹이의 배합으로 자연석재 느낌을 구현하였으며, 쇼트블라스트 및 커링 표면공정으로 미끄럼저항지수를 조절할 수 있어, 기존 콘크리트 보도블록에 비해 투수율, 내구성, 기능성, 안전성이 우수하여, 안전한 보행환경이 가능한 것으로 분석되었다. 마지막으로, 주변 환경과 잘 어울리도록 디자인된 바이오기능성 친환경 블록으로 도심지역 시공시 투수효과에 따른 지하수고갈방지 및 침수피해에 도움을 주리라 사료된다.

Scenario-Based Analysis on the Effects of Green Areas on the Improvement of Urban Thermal Environment (녹지 조성 시나리오에 따른 도시 열환경 개선 효과 분석)

  • To alleviate the urban heat island phenomenon, this study aims to quantitatively analyze the effects of neighborhood green spaces on the improvement of the thermal environment based on detailed scenarios of five types of green spaces, including parks, pocket parks, parking lot greening, roadside planting, and rooftop-wall greening. The ENVI-met 4.4.6v model, a microclimate simulation program, was used to analyze the effects of green spaces. As a result, it was found that the air temperature decreased as the planting density of the park increased, but the thermal comfort index PET, which is the degree of heat sensation felt by humans, was not directly proportional to temperature. The establishment of a pocket park reduced air temperature up to a radius of 56m, while the range of temperature reduction increased by about 12.5% when three additional pocket parks were established at 250m intervals. Unlike the air temperature, PET was only affected in the vicinity of the planted area, so there was no significant difference in the thermal comfort of the surrounding environment due to the construction of pocket parks. Changing the surface pavement from asphalt to lawn blocks and implementing rooftop or wall greening did not directly act as solar shading but positively affected air temperature reduction; PET showed no significant difference. Roadside planting showed a higher air temperature reduction effect as the planting interval was narrower, but PET was not directly proportional to tree density. In the case of shrub planting under trees, it did not significantly affect the air temperature reduction but positively affected the improvement of thermal comfort. This study can outline strategies for constructing neighborhood green spaces to solve the urban heat island phenomena and establish detailed strategies for efficient thermal environment improvements.

Effect of Land Use on Urban Thermal Environments in Incheon, Korea (인천시에서 토지이용이 도시 열 환경에 미치는 영향)

  • To identify the relationship between land use and thermal environment in an urban area, the air temperature was measured at different places of land use, and the changes of land use and air temperature were traced for 40 years in Incheon City. The relationship between land use and temperature was also investigated using satellite image data. The results of temperature measurements on a forest, a cropland (rice paddy), a bareland (school ground), and an urban area (asphalt road) from 19 to 21 August 2014 showed that air temperature was the highest on a pavement road. The temperature increased by about $1.4^{\circ}C$ ($0.035^{\circ}C/year$) for 40 years from 1975 to 2014 in Incheon. The changes in land use patterns of Incheon for the past 40 years showed that urban dry land, bareland and grassland have increased and cultivated land, wetland and forest land have decreased gradually. The land surface temperature (LST) was correlated with the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and normalized difference built-up index (NDBI) extracted from Landsat satellite image. The land surface temperature was lower at higher NDVI, and higher at higher NDBI. Therefore, it is important to conserve and restore the land use of greenery, wetlands, and agricultural land in order to mitigate the heat island effect and improve the thermal environment in an urban area.

  • Heat waves during summer cause a qualitative degradation in urban environments and increases the number of patients who suffer from heat-related illnesses, and the urbanization deepens these problems. It is a prerequisite to analyze the current status accurately in order to assess the urban heat island phenomenon. Thus, this study aims to collect weather measurements information at the occurrence of a severe heat wave in Seoul, thereby allowing analysis of information, which will also consider the land use type. The weather measurement information used in the analysis had an advantage, as the gap between measured locations is considerably shorter than before due to the miniaturization of the automatic weather systems (AWS), which are connected through the communication network. Based on the above collected information, a temporal change in the data due to land use type was analyzed. As a result, the difference in temperature change in response to the land use type could be compared, as could the occurrence pattern of the tropical night phenomenon, and the effect on temperature reduction in green belt areas could be identified through the comparison of the intensity of heat island by time and land use. The methods and results derived in this study through the comparative analysis in terms of time and land use, weather information measurements, and mapping can be utilized as foundational data that can be referred to in urban planning to reduce the heat island phenomenon in the future.

  • The overall aim of this study is to mitigate urban environmental problems. In particular, to reduce the effects of urban heat island phenomenon which is one of the urban planning perspective. This study focused on the analysis of the relationship between the urban heat island effect and the thermal and wind properties. To do this analysis, water space was virtually made at Yeol_Mae village Apt. Because it is very difficult to set up water space for the existing apartment complexes due to realistic constraints. This study, therefore has a strong sort of guidelines to create water space for newly formed city. It was based on the concept of virtual city through an in-depth analysis on reduction of urban heat island effects for the existing apartment along with creation of water space. To analysis site, Envi-Met Model developed by Michael Bruse was used. The results are as follows. The temperature went from 298.9K to 297.82K and The wind speed went from 1.42m/s to 1.43m/s. The results are slight in this study because creation of water space is planned to a small area of an apartment complex. But if the water space would be applied to a whole city, the mitigation effect of urban heat island would be bigger.

  • This paper investigates the structural stability and reliability on improving performance of flexible brake pad used in high speed train. To this end, an improved model of flexible pad was obtained through structural analysis. Brake pad specimens were subjected to modal, stroke and endurance tests to examine the dynamic characteristics and mechanical stability. The hot spot generation with increasing rotational speed was observed on chassis dynamometer equipment and then the structurally uniform contact between the disc and pad was achieved. The temperature distribution of flexible pad was measured using the infrared camcorder. Hence, the proposed flexible pad showed the better structural stability and thermal energy emission.

  • 오늘날 전 세계적으로 가속화되는 기상이변에 따라 돌발성, 국지성 폭우 및 폭설의 빈도가 급격히 증가하는 추세이다. 이 같은 돌발기상 현상은 고층 건물과 인구의 과밀화로 인해 열섬효과가 자주 발생하는 도심지에서 특히 높은 발생률을 보이며, 그로 인한 막대한 인명 및 재산상의 피해가 발생하고 있는 실정이다. 하지만 이러한 돌발성 강수 현상들은 주로 저고도에서 생성 및 발달되며, 그 수명은 2~3시간에 불과하기 때문에 현재의 국내 기상관측 시스템으로는 예측 및 예보에 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 현재, 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 국내 관련 기관들에서는 도심지를 중심으로 한 저층 기상 관측을 위한 소형 레이더 네트워크 구축을 계획하고 있다. 그와 함께, 본 논문에서는 향후 도입될 소형 레이더 네트워크의 활용성을 증대시키고, 기상재해의 피해를 줄이는 방법으로써, 구글 어스의 지도 서비스를 기반으로 한 기상 레이더 자료 활용 실시간 돌발성 기상재해 감시/추적 및 경보 시스템 플랫폼을 제안한다. 제안하는 플랫폼은 전 세계적으로 통용되는 GIS 엔진으로서, 높은 확장성이 장점인 구글어스 플랫폼을 바탕으로 하며, 레이더 자료 분석 도구, 위험도 판별 도구 및 자료 표출/경보 도구 등으로 크게 세 가지의 기술도구 집단으로 구성된다. 제안한 플렛폼 상에서 시뮬레이션을 통해 구글어스 기반에서 레이더 누적강수량의 실시간 처리와 3차원 GIS 기반에서의 직관적인 경보 메시지 표출을 구현하였으며, 향후 각 기술 도구들 상의 기법들을 연구 및 개선함으로써 국토관측센서 네트워크 및 기상 재해 예 경보 체계를 위해 활용되어질 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
