Flmae Visualization of the sector combustor (분할연소기의 화염 가시화 연구)

  • In order to see the flame behavior in the gas turbine combustor, combustion test was performed by using sector combustor. Ignition test with torch ignition system was carried out at the various combustor inlet velocity and air fuel ratio. Also, flame blow out limit was measured by changing fuel flow rate with fixed air mass flow rate. In the test results, stable ignition is possible at air excess ratio of 6 and this limit is gradually increased with combustor inlet air velocity. The minimum blow out limit is about 4 at 40 m/s of combustor inlet velocity. This blow out limit is also increased up to about 10 with increasing combustor inlet velocity.

  • In order to see flame behavior in the annular reverse gas turbine combustor, sector combustion test was performed. Ignition test by using torch ignition system was carried out at various combustor inlet velocity and air fuel ratio. Also, flame blow out limit was measured by changing fuel flow rate with constant air mass flow rate. In test results, stable ignition is possible at air excess ratio of 6 and this limit is gradually increased with combustor inlet velocity. The minimum blow out limit is about 4 at 40 m/s of combustor inlet velocity. This blow out limit is also increased up to about 10 with increasing combustor inlet velocity. Test result shows that lean blow out limits are increased with air velocity. The highest blow out limit was found at the combustor inlet velocity of 65 m/s.

  • APU for aircraft is operated under severe condition as high altitude and low temperature, and demand high reliability in flight. This study is to be verified of the ignition and the combustion stability of APU under the harsh conditions. The basic data obtained in combustion rig test were directly applied to the altitude test with a engine. That start logic was obtained in ground development test. The results of altitude test show that air swirl injector has good operation and ignition performance at 20kft, hot/cold($-40^{\circ}C$) day.

  • In order to understand spray characteristics with inflowing air from the compressor in the APU gas turbine combustor, we performed spray visualization test by using ND-Yag Laser sheet beam. The sector combustor which size is 1/6 of the real combustor was manufactured. Turbo blower is used as an air supplying device to simulate gas turbine air flow condition. In the case of 75 m/s combustor inlet air flow condition, spray angle way increased and dispersed widely than without airflow condition.

  • 극초음속 여객기와 군사용 항공기에 대한 수요가 증가함에 따라서 새로운 개념의 다양한 추진기관이 연구가 진행되고 개발되어 왔다. 초음속 항공기의 속도 영역은 마하 10-20 정도가 되는데 이 속도 한계를 극복하기 위하여 초음속 연소 램제트 엔진(SCRamjet; Supersonic Combustion Ramjet)이 제안되었다. 스크램 제트를 개발하기 위해서는 연료와 산화제의 혼합 효율 문제, 화염의 안정화 문제, 벽면의 냉각에 관한 문제 등 몇 가지 기본적인 문제들을 해결해야 한다. Univ of Michigan에서 실험한 연소기를 모델로 본 연구에서는 연료와 공기의 혼합에 관한 수치 연구를 수행하였다. 다원 혼합기체에 관한 축대칭 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 지배 방정식을 이용하였고 비평형 화학반응식을 고려하였다. 공간 차분에는 유한 체적법을 이용하였다. 대류 플럭스 항은 Roe의 Upwind FDS 기법을 사용하여 차분하였고 점성항에는 중심 차분법을 이용하였다. 시간 적분법으로는 근사 자코비안과 LU분할 기법을 이용한 완전 내재적 방법이 쓰였다. 난류 모델로는 Mentor에 의해 제안된 2 방정식 k-$\varepsilon$/k-$\omega$ 혼합모델을 사용하였다. 유동장이 실험에서의 찍은 사진과 유사한 모습의 충격파 간섭을 수치 모사하였고 수소가 확산되는 모습과 함께 노즐 lip 주위의 재순환 영역에 대해서 살펴볼 수 있었다.

Study of Cooling Performance Enhancement on Injector Face Plate of Rocket Engine (로켓엔진 분사면의 냉각성능 향상에 관한 연구)

  • An optimal fuel manifold is suggested to improve the cooling performance of injector face plate. The cooling performance at the center area of the injector face plate is to be augmented while the spatial injection uniformity is maintained. The comparison of the cooling performance of 7 candidates gives the conclusion that the dividing plate from 2-3 injector row to 9-10 injector row is an optimal. The maximum face plate temperature decreases by $27\%$ while the injection uniformity is close to that of the original design. The pressure drop in the fuel manifold of the optimal design is also same as the original design.

  • In this study, the genetic algorithm has been used for the real-time defect diagnosis on the operation of the aircraft gas-turbine engine. The component elements of the gas-turbine engine for consideriation of the performance deterioration is consist of the compressor, the gas generation turbine and the power turbine, repectively. Compared to the on-design point on the sea-level condition, the learning data has been increased 200 times in case of the off-design conditions for the altitude, the flight mach number and the fuel consumption. Therefore, enormous learning time has been required for the satisfied convergence. The optimum division has been proposed to decrease learning time as well as to obtain high accuracy. As results, the RMS errors of the defect diagnosis using the genetic algorithm have been estimated under 5 %.
