Evaluation of Seawater Reverse Osmosis Desalination System with UF and Disk Filter as Pre-Treatment (UF와 디스크필터를 전처리시설로 이용한 역삼투압해수담수설비의 평가)

  • In the present study, sea water reverse osmosis desalination system was composed with an ultra-filtration membrane as a pre-treatment. Sea water was induced into the pre-treatment composed with an auto-screen filter and an ultra-filtration membrane. It was proved that the permeate of the pre-treatment was adequate for reverse osmosis desalination system by measuring the $SDI_{15}$ and the turbidity. Feed salinities was changed by mixing the brine and the permeate. Inlet salinities effected the performances of sea water reverse osmosis desalination system in a large amount such as the salt rejection, the recovery ratio, the pressure, the product salinity. Energy consumptions per the ton of the product were almost linearly increased with the inlet salinities.

멀티밴드 W-CDMA를 위한 SDR 기반의 디지털 IF 모듈 구현

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 기지국과 W-CDMA 시스템을 상호 연동하기 위한 SDR(Software Defined Radio) 기반의 멀티 밴드 디지털 IF 모듈 구현에 대해 소개한다. 하드웨어 플랫폼상에 테스트 및 시험 검증하기 위해서 크게 광대역 ADC, DAC, FPGA로 구성하였으며, FPGA 내에 디지털 필터 및 NCO 등의 응용 소프트웨어는 VHDL로 코딩하였다. 디지털 필터는 FPGA의 허용 자원을 고려하여 인터폴레이션 및 데시메이션을 위한 폴리페이즈 필터 뱅크로 구현하였다. 또한 송신단에서는 이미지 성분을 제거하기 위해 2단의 DCQM(Digital Complex Quadrature Modulation)을 적용하였으며, 이때 적용되는 NCO(Numerically Controlled Oscillator)는 1/4주기의 LUT를 사용하여 설계하였다. 수신단에서는 IF 단에 SAW 필터를 사용하지 않기 때문에 W-CDMA의 블록커 규약에 준하면서 근접 채널을 제거하기 위한 고출력의 감쇄 특성을 갖는 필터를 설계하였다. 본 논문에서는 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 결과와 스펙트럼 분석기를 통해 측정된 결과를 비교 분석하였으며 이에 대한 디지털 IF 모듈의 성능을 검증하였다.

A Novel Transversal Filter using Triple-Coupled-Line Directional Couplers (삼중 결합선로 방향성결합기를 이용한 새로운 구조의 트랜스버살 필터)

  • A novel transversal filter using triple-coupled-line directional couplers is proposed. Simple design method which uses sinc function for computing coupling coefficients of the proposed transversal filter are also introduced. The frequency characteristics of the proposed filter are seldom degraded by the connecting sections between the cascaded directional couplers while those of the conventional transversal filter are aggravated. Moreover, the less number of the connecting sections and the directional couplers is required in the proposed filter than fer the case of the conventional transversal filter having the same bandwidth. The performance of the proposed transversal filter is verified by measurement and the measured results are compared with the calculated results.

  • This article presents a band-stop filter (BSF) by using a periodic structure property of frequency selective surfaces (FSSs) embedded in a microstrip transmission line. The proposed BSF is designed with FSS unit cells modifying the cross-loop slots. The BSF is interpreted with an equivalent circuit model and a dispersion diagram. The center frequency (fo) of the BSF is 6.6GHz. Proposed filter increases the number of unit cell. As a result, 3dB bandwidth is wider and insertion loss is reduced. Also, Facbricated BSF exhibits uniplanar geometry, simple fabrication.

A Study on the Test Results of 32 Gbps Observing System for Wideband VLBI Observation (광대역 VLBI 관측을 위한 32Gbps 관측장비의 시험결과 고찰)

  • In this paper, we evaluate the basic test results of the 32 Gbps observational equipment introduced as the back-end system for the wideband VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry) observation of KVN (Korean VLBI Network). Radio astronomers want to make a large radio telescope that has excellent performance in order to observe the superfine structure of a celestial body, but a lot of money is needed. Therefore, in order to increase the sensitivity, the performance improvement of the receiving system and the method of observing the wide frequency bandwidth are introduced. To do this, we adopted a wideband sampling method for converting analog signals to digital with ultra-fast speeds and a wideband sampler for performing digital filtering in order to observe a wide observational frequency bandwidth. The wideband sampler (OCTAD-K) supports up to 16 Gsps-2bits sampling and supports a variety of observational bandwidth using digital filtering techniques. In particular, it is designed to support KVN's 4-frequency simultaneous observation system and VERA(VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry)'s 2-beam observation system. It can also support polKVN(Korean VLBI Network), KaVA(KVN and VERA Array), 32Gbps Direct Sampler, Digital Filter, Widebandarization observations and supports the standard VDIF(VLBI Data Interchange Format) format of observed data. In this paper, the performance of the system and the problem solving are described in detail after performing the factory inspection and field test before the system is introduced.

A Study on the to Shorten of Early Decay Time in the Reverberation Curve Using MINT (MINT법을 이용한 실내 잔향곡선의 초기감쇠시간 단축에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we made shorter EDT(early decay time) of room reverberation curve using multiple-channel. The speech signal was processed inverse filtering with full-band and sub-band in the basis MINT, and then the multiple-channel adaptive filters were used LMS (Least Mean Square) and NLMS (Normalized Least Mean Square) algorithm. Experimental results, we could get 1/3 of time reduction at 20dB level in the reverberation curve using full-band NLMS when two microphones were used. Also, it is shown that the speech articulation was improved 80% from the test listeners with the speech, which was to shorten EDT by MINT in the subjective assessments using real room impulse response.

  • This paper introduces an adaptive nonlinear filtering algorithm that uses the sequential regression(SER) method to update the second order Volterra filter coefficients in a recursive way. Conventionally, the SER method has been used to invert large matrices which result from direct application of Wiener filter theory to the Volterra filter. However, the algorithm proposed in this paper uses the SER approach to update the least squares solution which is derived for Gaussian input signals. In such an algorithm, the size of the matrix to be inverted is smaller than that of conventional approaches, and hence the proposed method is computationally simpler than conventional nonlinear system identification techniques. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

An Image Compression Algorithm Using the WDCT (Warped Discrete Cosine Transform) (WDCT(Warped Discrete Cosine Transform)를 이용한 영상 압축 알고리듬)

  • This paper introduces the concept of warped discrete cosine transform (WDCT) and an image compression algorithm based on the WDCT. The proposed WDCT is a cascade connection of a conventional DCT and all-pass filters whose parameters can be adjusted to provide frequency warping. In the proposed image compression scheme, the frequency response of the all-pass filter is controlled by a set of parameters with each parameter for a specified frequency range. For each image block, the best parameter is chosen from the set and is sent to the decoder as a side information along with the result of corresponding WDCT computation. For actual implementation, the combination of the all-pass IIR filters and the DCT can be viewed as a cascade of a warping matrix and the DCT matrix, or as a filter bank which is obtained by warping the frequency response of the DCT filter bank. Hence, the WDCT can be implemented by a single matrix computation like the DCT. The WDCT based compression, outperforms the DCT based compression, for high bit rate applications and for images with high frequency components.
