  • In this paper, a wide band modified inverted-F type antenna printed on a high dielectric ceramic material is designed and fabricated. This antenna is designed to have optimum antenna characteristics analyzing the effects of design parameters such as printed antenna pattern, ceramic dielectric material dimension and dielectric constant on antenna characteristics using the commercial simulation tool HFSS. The fabricated antenna's width, length and height are 8 mm, 8 mm and 3 mm, respectively. Measurement results show that it has -10 dB bandwidth of 270 MHz which satisfies the IMT-2000 bandwidth required for handset and that its maximum radiation gain is 2 dBi.

  • A wideband stacked patch antenna with parasitic elements, rectangular and triangle shaped patches, is proposed. Two different shaped parasitic elements are placed in the above of main rectangular microstrip patch antenna in order to achieve wide bandwidth for 860 MHz band. Coupling between the main patch and parasitic patches is realized by thick air gap. The gap and locations of parasitic patches are found to be the main factor of the wideband impedance matching. The proposed antenna is designed on a ground plane with small size of $119mm{\times}109mm$ for application of compact transceivers. And the impedance bandwidth of the antenna should satisfied CDMA band to the 780MHz~890MHz.

  • In this paper, a broadband microstrip antenna for PCS and IMT-2000 service is designed. To obtain the broadband characteristics of an antenna, we utilized the multi-layered structure composed of two foam material layers, parasitic element and aperture coupled feeding network. The broadband characteristic is obtained by changing the size of parasitic element and the height of foam materials. In addition to that, the usage of metal layer at the distance of λ/4 from feed-line, back radiation is reduced. The bandwidth of a single element for VSWR less than 1.3 is about 550MHz. The bandwidth of a designed 1$\times$4 array antenna for VSWR less than 1.3 is about 460MHz. The gain of a designed array antenna is about 11.15∼12.15dBi and the front-to-back ratio is about 30dB.

  • In this paper, a wideband loop antenna for UWB applications is studied. The proposed wideband loop antenna consists of a circular loop and circular sectors. Circular sectors with a ultra-wideband characteristic are used to connect the circular loop and the center feed points. Optimal design parameters are obtained by analyzing the effects of the gap between the circular sectors and the radius of the circular loop on the input reflection coefficient and gain characteristics. The optimized wideband loop antenna is fabricated on an FR4 substrate with a dimension of $41mm{\times}41mm$. Experimental results show that the antenna has a desired UWB characteristic with a frequency band of 3.1-11.0 GHz for a VSWR < 2.25.

  • This paper presents a printed, wideband folded monopole antenna for laptop and tablet computer applications. The proposed antenna is designed to cover bandwidth(2.3~10.6 GHz) of Bluetooth, WiMAX, and UWB system by using the printed folded monopole antenna having asymmetrical line width coupling with a parasitic inverted- L element. Also, wireless LAN band(5.15~5.85 GHz) which interferes with UWB system is rejected by inserting half-wavelength open stub in the folded monopole antenna. -10 dB bandwidth of the fabricated wideband antenna is 2.27~10.6 GHz (4.7:1) and -10 dB band-rejected bandwidth is measured as 700 MHz(5.15~5.85 GHz, 12.72 %). The gain and efficiency of the antenna except for the rejected band are higher than 3.93 dBi and 91.89 % and are measured as -2 dBi and 14.65 % at 5.5 GHz which is band-rejected frequency. The size of the antenna is suitable to install for small space of tablet and laptop computers as 12.75(1 ${\lambda}$/10)${\times}$12(1 ${\lambda}$/11) $mm^2$(${\lambda}$ is free space wavelength at 2.3 GHz). Therefore, we verified that the designed antenna is appropriate for wideband antenna of tablet and laptop PC applications.

  • Developing a high-performance Semantic Role Labeling (SRL) system for a domain requires manually annotated training data of large size in the same domain. However, such SRL training data of sufficient size is available only for a few domains. Performances of Korean SRL are degraded by almost 15% or more, when it is directly applied to another domain with relatively small training data. This paper proposes two techniques to minimize performance degradation in the domain transfer. First, a domain adaptation algorithm for Korean SRL is proposed which is based on the prior model that is one of domain adaptation paradigms. Secondly, we proposed to use simplified features related to morphological and syntactic tags, when using small-sized target domain data to suppress the problem of data sparseness. Other domain adaptation techniques were experimentally compared to our techniques in this paper, where news and Wikipedia were used as the sources and target domains, respectively. It was observed that the highest performance is achieved when our two techniques were applied together. In our system's performance, F1 score of 64.3% was considered to be 2.4~3.1% higher than the methods from other research.

  • The combined structure of both an annular dielectric resonator and a quarter-wave monopole is proposed to generate an omnidirectional radiation pattern over the wideband frequency range. The monopole works at the lower frequency band and excites the cylindrical dielectric resonator along its center point by electrical coupling mechanism. The rectangular shape of the DR is cut to generate the wideband operation of 4.7-18.2 GHz. The geometrical parameter of cylindrical dielectric resonator is 5.8 mm, 11.6 mm and 6.0 mm in inner diameter, outer diameter and height, respectively.

  • In this paper, a wideband two-layer H-shaped microstrip antenna for WLAN is designed. To increase the bandwidth of microstrip patch antenna a configuration of stacked type using parastic element is used. Furthermore, to reduce the size of microstrip patch antenna, two techniques are employed . the first one is H-shaped patch type and the second one is that the main radiator and parastic patch are shorted to the ground plane using ten shorting posts. The antenna bandwidth and radiation characteristics are calculated by ENSEMBLE ver. 5.0 simulation software, and compared with the experimental results. Experiment results show that the bandwidth of antenna in 740㎒ centered at 5.46㎓(13.5%), which is close agreement with the calculations, 770㎒(13%). Also, the antenna size can be reduced by 71.5% compared with the half wavelength rectangular microstrip antenna using the same substrate at the same frequency.

  • In this paper, a miniaturized PCB-integrated antenna is proposed for bluetooth applications. The proposed antenna is a modified form of the printed inverted F antenna where the size reduction is achieved by employing the meander strip for the resonant length part of the radiator. The antenna dimension is optimized using the commercial electromagnetic software MWSTM. The designed antenna is fabricated by the standard photo-etching technique and its performance is measured. The fabricated antenna shows a bandwidth of 125MHz centered at 2.45GHz and a gail of -0.23dBi. The size of the proposed antenna is $9.65mm{\times}5.95mm$ corresponding to the 55 percent of the area of the existing printed inverted F antenna.

  • In this paper, small WLAN antenna was designed and investigated. Proposed antenna was configured for meandered type patch antenna ($20mm{\times}20mm$) that was mounted on RF4 dielectric substrate (relative permittivity 4.4, thick 1.6mm, tangent loss 0.025) size of $20mm{\times}60mm$. Antenna parameters was calculated by using the OpenFDTD simulator. As a result, frequency bandwidth satisfying the condition of VSWR(2:1) was 1.82-3.05GHz (1.23GHz, 44.6%) for considering WLAN.
