A Study on the Role of Library in Urban Regeneration (도시재생 참여 주체로서 도서관의 역할에 관한 연구)

  • Libraries are one of the essential living infrastructures in urban regeneration. Beyond its meaning as a basic living infrastructure, it is necessary to first understand the role, nature and forms of participation in existing urban regeneration projects in order for libraries to perform their functions and roles effectively as participants of urban regeneration. Therefore, this study investigates the contents related to libraries in the contents of the strategic plan related to urban regeneration projects, and considers them in terms of the role of the library and the form of participation. Through this, the city's library would seek to maximize its role and function as a participant in urban regeneration. As a result, the library in urban regeneration is expected to improve the quality of living environment, Urban vitality, culturally, educationally, socially/welfare role closely related to life, and the role of community as a hub. In addition, the types of library participation could be largely divided into regional and geographical libraries, hybrid libraries combined with various services, libraries based on community cooperation and linkage, and regional community hub libraries based on community participation. In the future, the library needs to promote a more active role change based on the five roles expected as participants in urban regeneration. In addition, more detailed discussions on librarians, services, and programs, which are the main subjects of library services, will be needed in developing urban regeneration plans in order for libraries to successfully fulfill their role as urban regeneration centers.

The Effect of Role Assignment on the Types and Patterns of Verbal Interactions in Middle School Students' Science Inquiry Activities (중학생의 과학 탐구 활동에서 역할 부여가 언어적 상호작용의 유형 변화와 양상에 미치는 영향)

  • The active participation and active interaction of learners in small group science inquiry activities are the main factors that determine the effectiveness of science learning. Roles can be assigned to members of a small group to facilitate interaction between members within the small group. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of role assignment on the types and patterns of verbal interactions in middle school students' small group science inquiry activities. For this, 172 students from middle schools located in metropolitan cities were surveyed. We analyzed 18 small groups with assigned roles and 15 small groups without assigned roles. The change in verbal interaction type in small group science inquiry activity according to role assignment was largely divided into alienation and participation. In the case of small groups with assigned roles, the participation type occupied a higher proportion than the alienation type. The change in verbal interaction patterns did not show much significant differences when the role was assigned in terms of cognitive and affective. Based on this, further research is needed on how role assignment affects verbal interactions depending on the type of scientific inquiry and the stage of inquiry. In addition, further research on the composition of small groups and role assignment is required.

The Effect of Empowering Leadership on Leader-Member Exchange, Leader Trust and In-role Behavior (임파워링 리더십이 리더-구성원 교환관계, 리더신뢰 및 역할 내 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we examined the impact of empowering leadership on leader-member exchange(LMX), leader trust, and in-role behavior. The role of LMX and leader trust in the relationship between empowering leadership and in-role behavior was verified. We surveyed 289 small and medium enterprises in Yangsan, Ulsan and Gyeongju city. SPSS 18.0 was used for overall descriptive statistics and exploratory factor analysis. AMOS 18.0 was used to conduct confirmatory factor analysis to confirm the validity of the research variables and to conduct a covariance structure analysis to verify the research hypothesis. The result of this study were as follows. First, empowering leadership has a significant effect on LMX, leader trust. Second, empowering leadership did not have a significant effect on in-role behavior. Third, LMX has a significant effect on leader trust and in-role behavior. Fourth, leader trust has a significant influence onin-role behavior. Finally, LMX and leader trust play a mediating role in the relationship between empowering leadership and in-role behavior. Based on the results of this study, it is suggested that the LMX and leader trust should be strengthened through the leader's empowering leadership in order to enhance the employee's in-role behavior.

The Effect of Role Model on Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy and Entrepreneurial Intention: Focused on Korean and Chinese University Students (창업역할모델이 창업자기효능감과 창업의도에 미치는 영향: 한국과 중국대학생들을 중심으로)

  • Role model has received remarkable attentions in entrepreneurship literature over long time but majority of studies were conducted in western context. As an explorative study, this paper attempted to replicate the effect of role model in eastern context based on the discussions in the literature, using total 440 samples made of Korean and Chinese university students. This study examined the impact and effectiveness of role model on promoting entrepreneurship of university students, considering the main stream of entrepreneurship study has been concentrated on the effect of entrepreneurial education. Our findings presented that role model had a positive impact on both entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention of Korean and Chinese university students. Also, entrepreneurial self-efficacy had a significant and positive relationship with entrepreneurial intention of university students. The result of this study implies that role model need to be factored into entrepreneurship education curriculum in order to make it more effective and powerful promotional and educational tool for young university students. Theoretical and practical implications were presented based on the findings of this study.
