Influences of Entertainment Programs on the Formation of Public Opinion in Twitter (예능프로그램이 트위터 여론형성에 미치는 영향: SBS '힐링캠프, 기쁘지 아니한가' 안철수 후보 편을 중심으로)

  • In the age of media convergence, this study intended to empirically examine the influences of entertainment programs on the formation of public opinion in Twitter using the case of the Healing Camp, an entertainment program of SBS, featured Cheol Soo Ahn, who was a presidential candidate. Through a content analysis this study was able to directly test how public opinion was developed in Twitter and also examine the dynamics in which the messages of traditional media influence the formation of public opinion in twitter by combining Twitter and actual contents of the TV program. The study is expected to contribute to expanding a scope of scholarly attention of social media.

  • This study is critical research on the forming public opinion of SNS and participation behavior. Twitter is a typical SNS service, free school food and 10.26 re-and by-elections during the formation of public opinion on the impact have been investigated. Formation of public opinion about Twitter's analysis of the first research question, The case of free meals to support the Mayor Oh, rather than against Twitter were influential. 10.26 re-and by-elections Twitter in space, the Park' candidate than Na' candidate has formed a favorable opinion. Power twitterian and twitterian on the behavior of the second study involved analysis of the problem, For free meals, power twitterian were responsible for leading the public opinion. For 10.26 re-and by-elections, Power twitterian were more Park' candidates than Na' candidates. In addition, Park' candidates of twitterians were communicating more. Through traditional media in the process of forming public opinion was swayed by public opinion to the target people simply but SNS age people involved in the production and distribution of the issue and the issue has a leading role.

Intermedia Agenda-setting Effects: Political Debates on TV and Twitter (트위터의 매체 간 의제설정 : TV 토론 방송과 트위터의 여론 형성 과정에 관한 연구)

  • This study attempts to explore the inter-media agenda setting effect between television and Twitter based on the framework of the two-step flow theory. Twitter's increasingly important role in political communication can be effectively addressed by examining the process by which Twitter users form their opinions on television debate program. Content analyses of Twitter discussions after television debate of the Korean presidential candidates provided interesting insights into how Twitter's opinion leaders reflect on the televised debates. The results show that Twitter mentions rather focus on personality traits of the candidates while television debates emphasize the candiates' policy issues. Specifically, Twitter users mainly concentrated on the political ideology and morality of the candidates. In sum, Twitter seems to have its own way of influencing the public opinion separately from the television.

과학기술정책 형성 과정에서의 여론 반영 - 19대 대선 과학기술 공약과 동아사이언스 및 ESC의 사례를 중심으로

  • 본 논문은 대한민국의 제19대 대통령 선거와 관련하여 각 후보들의 과학기술정책 공약이 과학자들의 여론을 반영하였는지 알아본다. 이를 위해서, 주요 정당(더불어민주당, 국민의당, 바른정당, 정의당)의 후보들이 과학 언론인 동아사이언스로부터 받은 과학기술정책 공약에 대한 문의에 대해 답변한 내용과 사단법인 과학자 단체인 '변화를 꿈꾸는 과학기술인 네트워크(ESC)'가 발간한 '2017 대선 과학기술지원정책 타운미팅 - 우리는 대통령 후보에게 무엇을 묻고 요구할 것인가'라는 자료집에 대해 답변한 내용을 중심으로 하였다. ESC의 해당 자료집은 ESC 소속 회원들이 주관한 타운미팅에서 참가자들이 소속 및 직위에 의한 제한 없이 반대 의견에 부딪히지 않고 자유롭게 의견을 개진함으로써 발간된 것이기 때문에, 과학기술계의 여론을 가감 없이 반영했다고 볼 수 있다. 분석을 해본 결과, 국민의당 안철수 후보의 과학기술정책 공약이 과학기술계 여론을 가장 많이 반영하였으나, 과학기술 일자리 확충 및 과학기술인재 등용과 관련해서는 더불어민주당 문재인 대통령이, 과학문화 정책과 관련해서는 바른정당 유승민 후보 및 정의당 심상정 후보가 과학기술계 여론을 잘 반영한 것으로 나타났기에, 문재인 대통령이 세부 정책별로 다른 후보의 공약을 참고할 필요가 있는 것으로 파악되었다.

  • 최근 IT업체들은 온라인 상에서 소비자들이 평소에 쏟아내는 의견들을 수집, 축적해서, 원하는 키워드를 중심으로 내용을 분석함으로써, 특정 주제에 대해 어떤 여론이 형성되고 있으며, 여론이 어떻게 전파되고 있는지 경로를 파악할 수 있는 소셜 빅데이터 분석 툴을 경쟁적으로 개발하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 소셜 빅 데이터를 분석함에 있어 이슈를 감지하고 예측하는 기술을 실제 사례에 적용하여 분석한 결과를 고찰해 보고자 한다. 소셜 미디어 데이터 패턴을 비교 분석하고 부정이슈 감지를 위해 부정 여론을 확산시키는데 영향을 미치는 내용과 작성자를 독립변수로 하고, 평균 이슈 도달 시간 및 속도를 종속변수로 정의한다. 부정 여론 형성의 영향력은 트윗수, 리트윗 수를 기준으로 이슈 감지한다. 분석결과 전체 트윗 중 리트윗 메시지가 큰 비중 차지하고 이슈에 대한 버즈가 증가할수록 리트윗 비중이 증가하였으며 크게 확산될 때는 리트윗량이 크게 증가하여 짧은 시간 안에 넓게 확산하였다.

The Influence of One's Opinion, Perceived Public Opinion, and Perception Bias on Expression of Opinion (의견, 여론지각, 지각편향이 공개적 의견표명에 미치는 영향)

  • According to the spiral of silence theory, perception of opinion climates influences willingness to express one's opinion. This study examines the relationship between opinion perception and opinion expression in different regions and issues. The results show that one's opinion and the intensity of opinion affect the expression of opinion about national and regional issues in Busan and Gwangju. People who perceive their opinions as majority are more willing to express theirs about national and regional issues in Gwangju, but not in Busan. Regression analyses show that perceived public opinion does not predict the expression of opinion in both cities. People who perceive their opinions more favorable about regional issue have lower intention to express their opinions than people who perceive their opinions same as others'. In summary, one's opinion and perception bias about controversial issues are important variables influencing expression of opinion, and the influence of perceived public opinion on opinion expression varies in different regions with different distribution of public opinion. This study found 'new hardcores' who perceive their own opinion as minor but more valuable and have the intention to speak out in places more difficult to express.

Public Opinions Perception and Expression of Individual Opinion by Issue Types in the Internet (인터넷 공간에서의 이슈 유형별 여론지각과 의견표명에 관한 연구: 인터넷 여론조사와 게시판을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to examine the relation between opinion perception and opinion expression by issue types by analyzing online poll results and respective bulletin boards. To find out how opinion poll results affect the public opinion perception cues and opinion expression through the internet, the study applied a method of content analysis to the online contents provided by Naver.com, one of the most popular portal sites in Korea. A total of four issue types, along with 2,250 messages were chosen for analysis. The study results revealed that internet users perceived opinion atmosphere through the poll results and expressed their opinions depending on the issue types. In case of an issue where majority views are manifested as online poll results, users tended to follow that majority views by retaining their initial opinion. Majority opinion by the poll results held a dominant position in bulletin board. The results partially support Noelle-Neuman(1994)'s spiral of silence theory in the context of computer-mediated communication contrary to the belief that anonymity in the cyberspace tends to encourage participation of minority opinion group. According to the findings, people when they perceive their opinion as that of minority are discouraged to express their views even when they are online.

  • The purpose of this paper is to start off a debate in the current situation in which there exists two different logics about a newspaper company expanding their business field to the broadcasting market. In order to analyze the implications of the phenomenon, three points are raised and analyzed. First, Chosun-Ilbo, Jungang-Ilbo and Donga-Ilbo, who had a permission to get into the broadcasting arena, did not make their logic based on the fact while deriving the public opinion to be optimistic. Second, they strictly held their frames in order to support their logics which were an overall deregulation, to stimulate the economy and to create jobs without introducing various perspectives. Third, broadcasting of three major newspaper companies could monopolize the public sphere rather than contributing to the diversity of public opinions against three existing broadcasting companies KBS, MBC, SBS.

  • As newspapers which have been major news media are being replaced by on-line news media in recent years, many researchers are paying attention to "comments(news users' short remarks on an article)", a newly emerged way of forming public opinion. This study is examining how the similarity between political disposition of on-line news visitors and that of news media impacts upon their evaluation on quality of comments from the viewpoint of 'social identity theory.' This study may have academic significance because it inspected the pattern of media usage and the cognition of comments in relation to political disposition for the first time and showed 'comments reading' and the function of comments to form public opinion(comments journalism).
