The Grid Pattern Segmentation Using Hybrid Method (하이브리드 방법을 이용한 격자 패턴의 세그먼테이션)

  • This paper presents an image segmentation algorithm to obtain the 3D body shape data that the grid pattern and the body contour lute in the background image are extracted using the new proposed hybrid method. The body contour line is extracted based on maximum biased anisotropic recognition(MaxBAR) algorithm which recognizes the most strong and robust edges in the image since the normal derivative at the edges is large, while the tangential derivatives can be small. The grid patterns within body contour lines are extracted by grid pattern detection (GPD). The body contour lilies and the grid patterns are combined. The consecutive run test based on heuristic method is used to link the disconnected line and reduce noise line. This proposed segmentation method is more effective than the conventional method which uses a gradient and a laplacian operator, verified with application two conventional method.

Deskewing Document Image using the Gradient of the Spaces Between Sentences. (문장 사이의 공백 기울기를 이용한 문서 이미지 기울기 보정)

  • In this paper, we propose a method to detect the gradient of the spaces between sentences and to deskew in the document image. First, gradient is measured by pixels for spaces between sentences that has been done an edge extraction in document image and then skewed image is corrected by using the value of the gradient which has been measured. Since document image is divided into several areas, it shows a robust processing result by handling the margin, images, and multistage form in the document. Because the proposed method does not use pixel of the character region but use the blank area, degraded document image as well as vivid document image is effectively corrected than conventional method.

Content Adaptive Interpolation for Intra-field Deinterlacting (공간적 디인터레이싱을 위한 컨텐츠 기반 적응적 보간 기법)

  • This paper presents a content adaptive interpolation (CAI) for intra deinterlacing. The CAI consists of three steps: pre-processing, content classification, and adaptive interpolation. There are also three main interpolation methods in our proposed CAI, i.e. modified edge-based line averaging (M-ELA), gradient directed interpolation (GDI), and window matching method (WMM). Each proposed method shows different performances according to spatial local features. Therefore, we analyze the local region feature using the gradient detection and classify each missing pixel into four categories. And then, based on the classification result, a different do-interlacing algorithm is activated in order to obtain the best performance. Experimental results demonstrate that the CAI method performs better than previous techniques.

  • 다시점 비디오는 여러 개의 시점(view-point)을 이용하여 현장감과 몰입감을 제공하는 새로운 형태의 멀티미디어 서비스이다. 시점의 개수가 증가함에 따라 방대한 양의 영상 데이터로 인한 영상 획득, 저장 전송 및 재현 시 문제가 발생한다. 또한 현재의 다시점 비디오에 관한 연구는 고정된 카메라로 환경이 제한되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 유동적인 카메라 환경에서 최적의 상관관계를 가지는 영상을 획득하기 위한 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 영상의 일부분만을 선택하여 중복성을 먼저 측정하고, 중복성의 척도에 따라 사용자와의 상호작용을 통하여 높은 상관관계를 가지는 다시점 영상을 획득할 수 있다. 또한 영상 획득 시 카메라간의 조명 차이에 의해 발생되는 부정확성을 감소시키기 위해 영상 마스킹을 적용한다. 마스킹된 영상에 에지 검출 방법을 적용하여 변위 추정을 함으로써 계산 복잡도를 줄였다.

  • The technology to inspect and measure an inner structure of micro parts has become an important tool in the semi-conductor industrial field with the development of automation and precision manufacturing. Especially, the inspection skill on the inside of highly integrated electronic device becomes a key role in detecting defects of a completely assembled product. X-ray inspection technology has been focused as a main method to inspect the inside structure. However, there has been insufficient research done on the customized inspection technology for the flip-chip assembly due to the interior connecting part of flip chip which connects the die and PCB electrically through balls positioned on the die. In this study, therefore, it is implemented to detect shape error of flip chip bonding without damaging chips using an x-ray inspection system. At this time, it is able to monitor the solder bump shape by introducing an edge-extracting algorithm (exponential approximation function) according to the attenuating characteristic and detect shape error compared with CAD data. Additionally, the bonding error of solder bumps is automatically detectable by acquiring numerical size information at the extracted solder bump edges.

A Novel Morphological Characteristic Value Extraction Method for Content-Based Image Retrieval (내용 기반 이미지 검색을 위한 새로운 수리형태학적 특징값 추출 방법)

  • A novel characteristic value extraction method based on mathematical morphology is proposed. Morphological spatial frequency defined by morphological pattern distribution function is introduced and applied to define a new feature called ‘average height.' The average height is used to define a characteristic value which is to be used to generate an index key value for content-based image retrieval. Superiority of the method was proved for various images by experiment. Furthermore the fact that the proposed method does not need threshold to obtain binary image provides its applicability to content-based image retrieval.

Morphological Object Recognition Algorithm (몰포러지 물체인식 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, a feature extraction and object recognition algorithm using only morphological operations is proposed. The morphological operations used in feature extraction are erosion and dilation, opening and closing combining erosion and dilation, and morphological edge and skeleton detection operation. In the process of recognizing an object based on features, a pooling operation is applied to reduce the dimension. Among various structuring elements, $3{\times}3$ rhombus, $3{\times}3$ square, and $5{\times}5$ circle are arbitrarily selected in morphological operation process. It has confirmed that the proposed algorithm can be applied in object recognition fields through experiments using Internet images.

Microcalcification Detection Based on Region Growing Method with Contrast and Edge Sharpness in Digital X-ray Mammographic Images (명암 대비와 에지 선예도를 이용하는 영역 성장법에 의한 디지털 X선 맘모그램 영상에서의 미세 석회화 검출)

  • In this paper, we proposed the detection algorithm of microcalcification based on region growing method with contrast and edge sharpness in digital X-ray mammographic images. We extracted the local maximum pixel and watershed regions by using watershed algorithm. Then, we used the mean slope between local maximum and neighborhood pixels to extract microcalcification candidate pixels among local maximum pixels. During increasing threshold value to grow microcalcification region, at the maximum threshold value of the contrast and edge sharpness, the microcalcification area is decided. The regions of which area of grown candidate microcalfication region is larger than that of watershed region are excluded from microcalcifications. We showed the diagnosis algorithm can be used to aid diagnostic-radiologist in the early detection breast cancer.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 특징점 기반 객체 인식 방법의 확장으로 보완적 특징점 기반의 컬러 정보를 포함하는 기술자를 활용하는 객체 인식 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 무늬가 적은 객체에서도 에지의 위치를 샘플링함으로써 보완적 특징점을 생성해 낸다. 그리고 검출된 보완적 특징점으로부터 얻어지는 그레이 값 변화도방향 정보와 컬러 정보를 가지고 있는 기술자를 생성한다. 그리고 생성된 기술자를 객체 단위로 묶어 낼 수 있도록 하는 코드북(Codebook)을 학습함으로써 각 객체를 구분해 낼 수 있는 강건한 히스토그램를 생성한다. 생성된 코드북을 활용함으로써 제안하는 방법은 객체의 크기 및 환경 변화, 3차원 회전의 경우에도 기존의 방법보다 강건하게 인식한다. 실험 결과 제안하는 방법은 75.8% 인식률을 보이는 것을 확인하였다. 이 방법은 증강현실 응용에 정보 제시를 위해 가장 먼저 이루어지는 핵심 기술로써 활용될 수 있다.

  • Noise in image processing has a direct effect on the quality of the image, and adversely affects the processing of the system including algorithms such as image segmentation, edge detection, and image recognition. Therefore, noise reduction plays an important role in the preprocessing process. In this paper, we propose an efficient algorithm to remove noise in high density of Salt and Pepper noise. The proposed algorithm removes noise by gradually expanding the filtering mask according to the density of the noise, and shows excellent noise cancellation performance even in a high density region. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we compared and analyzed the existing method and the proposed algorithm through simulation.
