승객 상해치 감소를 위한 측면 에어백의 역할 (Role of Side Impact Airbag in Order to Reduce Passenger Injury Value)

  • In order to reduce passenger injuries in side collisions, car makers are developing a side impact airbag system while Volvo has already adopted. This study examines dummy injury reduction effect of a side airbag system using full car side impact simulation according to FMVSS 214 test procedure. The simulation result without side airbag shows a good correlation with test data. The folded airbag simulation is carried out to check main design factors. Through the simulation with side airbag module integrated in the seat frame, it is found that the side airbag system provides a substantially enhanced protection for car occupants in side collisions.

에어백 공구 기반의 광학 연마 장치의 미세 힘 제어 구현 (Micro Polishing Force Control of the Polishing Machine with the Airbag Tool)

  • In this paper, the polishing force monitoring and the control method were implemented for the polishing machine with the airbag tool. Airbag tool has been known to be adaptable to the curvature variation such as the aspherical and the free-form surface. However, it was necessary to control the tool movement of vertical axis also because of the table rotational wobble and vibration. To solve it by the polishing force control, we installed another stepping motor to the z-axis. And the polishing force was measured with the load cell and controlled by the PID Labview controller. A few hundreds gram of the polishing force were well controlled under 0.8 second of the response time and 5% variation. An experiment was done to clean the edge burrs of the micro channel structure of width $87{\mu}m$ using the polishing force control.

Mg-9Al-lZn 합금 자동차 에어백 케이스의 다이캐스팅에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Die Casting of Mg-9Al-1Zn Alloy for Air Bag Case)

  • Magnesium alloys casting are gaining increased acceptance in the automotive and electronic industeries and die casting is the most efficient method of manufacturing such mass produced parts. This study has been investigated the microstructures and mechanical properties of Mg-9Al-lZn alloy fabricated by die casting process for development of air bag case. The microstructure of die casted specimen were composed of pro-eutectic magnesium solid solution and $\beta$(Mg17Al12) precipitates. The tensile strength of as-fabricated Mg-9Al-lZn alloy revealed 231.4MPa. It was found that Mg-9Al-lZn alloy have good corrosion resistance in electrochemical polarization test.

  • Automobile airbag deployment process has been studied with MADYMO software. Based on the FMVSS208 and USNCAP(United States New Car Assessment Program) regulations, four parameters were chosen for the design improvement with reference to the 5th percentile female passenger dummy: time to fire, vent hole size, tether length and tank test pressure of inflator. Sensitivity analyses based on orthogonal arrays show that enhanced protection of small females can be achieved with improved USNCAP rating within the boundary of FMVSS 208.

실험계획법을 이용한 측면 에어백 인플레이터 최적 설계 (Optimizing Design of Side Airbag Inflator using DOE Method)

  • For side airbag, the pipe type inflators have been wide used while the disk type inflators have been used for front airbag. For helping to prevent injury and death the airbag inflator system should be design with great care. The present study deal with optimizing the design of side airbag inflator by finite element analysis and design of experiment method. An optimization process was integrated to determine the optimum design variable values related to the side airbag inflator. Free shape optimization method has been carried out to find a optimal shape on an side airbag inflator model. Optimization of the air bag inflator was successfully developed using Sharpe optimization was carried out to find a new geometry. The improved results compared to the base design specification were achieved from design of experiment and optimization.

직교배열표를 이용한 승용차 에어백의 설계 (An Airbag Design for the Safety of an Occupant using the Orthogonal Array)

  • The safety analysis becomes very essential in the crash environment with the growth of automobile industry. Recently, an airbag system is required to protect the occupant. The effects of an airbag can be evaluated exactly from the barrier or sled test which is quite expensive. The airbag system in a passenger car is analyzed with the occupant analysis program. The modeling of the passenger car including an airbag is established and the results are verified by comparisons with real crash tests. However, the solution of an airbag design can not be obtained easily with the conventional method such as an optimization due to the nonlinearity and complexity of the problem. An iterative design algorithm using the orthogonal array is proposed to overcome the difficulties. The design trend of an airbag is recommended to minimize the injury of an occupant with the proposed design algorithm and the results are discussed.

에어백 장착 모터사이클복의 제품개발 및 착용감 분석 (Development and Wearing Comfort Analysis of Motorcycle Wear with Built-in Airbag)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop motorcycle wear with built-in airbag protection for enhanced comfort and fit. Based on the survey results, a motorcycle jacket was designed using. Aauto CAD. This study concentrated on the wearing comfort comparison of the motorcycle jacket developed from this research with that of and foreign goods. To evaluate the wearing comfort, 3 types of motorcycle jackets were used. The results of this study were as follows. : From an Analysis of the differences in wearing comfort, the motorcycle jacket developed proved to be more convenient than the 2 types of foreign motorcycle jackets in terms of the standing and handle grip posture. This effect was due to the curved pattern of the neckline part of the airbag. The air pressure of the airbag must be improved.

  • Conventional aspherical lens polishing methods by the small tool polishing use aspherical profile and the trajectory of the polishing tool is also controlled. In this paper, new full contact polishing mechanism is suggested to polish aspherical glass lens mold by both airbag polishing tool and eccentric motion. Full contact concept by airbag polishing tool and no position control make the easy polishing setup and do not need aspherical design profile. An aspherical lens polishing machine was made for this study and a verification experiment was performed for surface roughness improvements.

  • For the robust passenger NCAP 5star and the stable neck injury performance, a new concept of passenger airbag has been required strongly. Especially, the deployment stability and the vent hole control technology of the passenger airbag should be improved. According to these requirements, the deployment stability technique has been studied and the 'Active Vent' technology has been developed. As a result, these technologies have led to achieve the robust NCAP rating and are applied to the production vehicles.

  • According to the development of autonomous vehicles worldwide, the driver's posture may not be a normal posture but the various seating positions. Recently, a numbers of research activities has been focused to protect of driver and passengers in various seating positions as well as seating postures. In this paper, the occupant injury severity was evaluated with different seat positions, seatback angles and TTF times.
