  • Neutron sources from photonuclear reaction with 46-MeV electron linear accelerator at Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto University used for resonance energy measurement of natural tantalum. BGO($Bi_4Ge_3O_{12}$) scintillation detectors used for measurement of the prompt gamma ray from the natural tantalum sample. The BGO spectrometer was composed geometrically as total energy absorption detector. The electric signal from the spectrometer was analyzed for TOF(Time-of-Flight) spectrum which is used identification of neutron capture resonance energy. In this study, the neutron energy region is from 1 to 200 eV, because of strong X-ray effect produced photonuclear reaction in Ta target, the measurement was performed to below 1 keV energy region. The resonance energy was compared with the evaluated values(ENDF/B-VI, Mughabghab). All of the resonances from 4.28 ~ 200 eV were seen in the present measurement except 144.3 eV resonance.

  • We have analyzed the electrical defect detection mechanism using low energy microcolumn on the TFT substrate for TFT-LCD. In this study, we have acquired the SEM images of the various pixel defects for 7-inch TFT substrate by scanning of low energy electron beam in the high vacuum chamber. Futhermore, we have interpreted the defect detection mechanism through the correlations between the SEM images and electrical behaviors of the defective pixels. As a result, we obtained consistent results as the follows. We can confirm that the SEM images using low energy electron beam are significantly affected by the space charge effect.

  • Prompt fission neutron energy spectrum as a function of energies of neutron inducing fission has been calculated en the basis of the Madland-Nix(MN) model. The resultant spectra have been weighted to excitation functions of $^{27}$ Al(n, $\alpha$), $^{32}$ S(n, p) and $^{115}$ In(n, n') threshold reactions in order to get the average cross sections and then spectral indices which are defined as the average cross section ratio for two selective threshold reactions among the above three. It is appeared that spectral indices together with the neutron spectra are varying with energies of neutron inducing fission. This may indicate that the prompt fission neutron energy spectrum can be determined by measuring experimentally the spectral index.

  • The method of etching tracks in PN-3 dosimeter has been applied to tracks of recoil protons from a neutron source. Both the etch and the detection response of PN-3 has been studied as a function of etched-track diameters against various parameters. We could obtain very useful informations about charge, energy, and mass of particles and the relationship between the track etching rate and the track forming procedure in order to analyze the particle recorded in the solid state track detector. The best etching condition could be found by means of changing the etching circumstances for various energies and particles in order to detect the charged particle accurately. It could be influenced widely that the polymer plastic detector could develep the detecting technique for the low energy level neutron and could be used as a neutron dosimeter in the radiation field such as the nuclear power station, the medical institute and the nondtructive testing institute.

  • This paper proposes a method of moving object detection in crowded scene using clustered trajectory. Unlike previous appearance based approaches, the proposed method employes motion information only to isolate moving objects. In the proposed method, feature points are extracted from input frames first and then feature tracking is followed to create feature trajectories. Based on an assumption that feature points originated from the same objects shows similar motion as the object moves, the proposed method detects moving objects by clustering trajectories of similar motions. For this purpose an energy function based on spatial proximity, motion coherence, and temporal continuity is defined to measure the similarity between two trajectories and the clustering is achieved by minimizing the energy function in CRFs (conditional random fields). Compared to previous methods, which are unable to separate falsely merged trajectories during the clustering process, the proposed method is able to rearrange the falsely merged trajectories during iteration because the clustering is solved my energy minimization in CRFs. Experiment results with three different crowded scenes show about 94% detection rate with 7% false alarm rate.

  • Total reflection X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation source called as TRSFA was explored to achieve high sensitivities to impurity metals on Si wafer surface. It consists of monochromating part to select a specific wavelength, slit part to shield direct beam and to control monochromated beam, and main chamber to dectect fluorescent X-ray counts of impurities on si wafer. Monochromated X-ray of 10.90 KeV was selected and the optimum total reflection condition on silicon wafer was obtained through tuning the dead time and fluorescent X-ray count of Si and Fe. TRSFA system could increase the sensitivity as high as 50 times in comparision with TRXFA using normal X-ray source. But the trend was varied since the surface conditions of Si wafers and, therefore, the reflectivities were different. Furthemore, there seems to be a promising path to reaching a detection limit useful to the next generation metal impurities control, because Fe impurity below to the $5\times10^{9}\textrm{atomas/cm}^2$ can be detectable through the developed TRSFA system.

  • Position information of radiation interactions in detection material is essential to reconstruct a radiation source image. With most position sensing techniques, the position information of a single interaction inside the detectors can be precisely obtained. Each interaction position of multi-scattering inside scintillators, however, can not be individually measured and only the average of the scattering positions can be obtained, which causes the uncertainty in the measured interaction position. In this paper, the position uncertainties due to the multi-scattering were calculated by Monte Carlo simulation. The simulation model was a 50 by 50 by 5 mm $LaCl_3$(Ce) scintillator(pixel size is 2 by 2 by 5mm) which was utilized for the dual collimation camera. The dual collimation camera uses the information from both photoelectric effect and Compton scattering, and therefore, position uncertainties for both partial and full energy deposition of radiation interactions are calculated. In the case of partial energy deposition(PED), the standard deviations of positions are less than $1{\sim}2mm$, which means the uncertainty caused by multi-scattering is not significant. Because the effect of the multi-scattering with PED is insignificant, the multi-scattering has little effect on the performance of Compton imaging of dual collimation camera. In the case of full energy deposition(FED), however, the standard deviation of the positions is about twice that of the pixel size of the 1stdetector, except for 122keV incident radiations. Therefore, the standard deviations caused by multi-scatterings should be considered in the design of the coded mask of the dual collimation camera to avoid artifact on the reconstructed image. The position uncertainties of the FEDs are much larger than those of the PEDs for all radiation energies and the ratio of PEDs to FEDs increases when the incident radiation energy increases. The position uncertainties of both PEDs and FEDs are dependent on the incident radiation energy.
