The Strategic Ambidexterity of Online Game Companies: The Exploitation and Exploration of NCsoft (온라인 게임회사의 전략적 양면성: 엔씨소프트의 활용과 탐험)

  • This research analyzed the case of Ncsoft to study the organizational learning, exploitation and exploration that create dynamic capability in hypercompetitive environment. First of all, we demonstrated the activities of exploitation and exploration in Ncsoft according to the life cycle of online game industry. An exploitation related to routine, learning and fit with existing environment brings about incremental innovation. In contrast, an exploration associated with non-learning, flexibility with changing environment results in radical innovation. We examined them based on the life cycle of its various game services. NCsoft that built the leading position in online game industry focused the exploitation activities at the stage of beginning period and growth, whereas NCsoft has increased the activities of exploration at period of mature. In addition, the firm conducts an exploration for its brand new game services and R&D. Conversely, An exploitation is conducted for sustainable updating of patch service and marketing and system building. The result implies that online game companies create sustainable competitive advantage using the balance between exploitation and exploration.

A Study on the Application of the FRBR Model to Legislation (법령에 대한 FRBR 모형의 적용에 관한 연구)

  • This study intend to find the application methods of the FRBR model about legislation by analyzing a law life cycle from the enactment to the amendment and abolition of legislation and the type of the change after abolition. The legislation is the work as an aggregate entity consisting legal provisions and each provision is also the work. They are in the Whole-to-Part relation. The legislation has a effect by being published in the official gazette, and the updated text or the translated text is not the official version. Even if the name of the legislation is changed, it is treated as the same entity when it is not abolished and the simple rectifying text expressed in the official gazette is also legally valid. The Libraries Act has been replaced by the Libraries Act(old version), the Libraries Promotion Act, the Libraries and Reading Promotion Act and the Libraries Act(new version) in the order named, and it can be bounded into a superwork. For these examples, we provided the application method of FRBR model and suggested the actual application cases regarding Work, Expression, Manifestation and Item which are in Group 1 of FRBR model for the Libraries Act.

Ignition Test of an Oxidizer Rich Preburner (산화제과잉 예연소기 점화시험)

  • Ignition tests of an oxidizer rich preburner for a staged combustion cycle liquid rocket engine were performed to evaluate combustion performance. Design operation conditions of the tested oxidizer rich preburner are about 60 of OF ratio and 20 MPa of combustion pressure. The entire kerosene and some LOx injected into the mixing head is burned in combustion chamber and the remaining LOx injected through center holes of combustion chamber is vaporized. Full flow ignition method with hypergolic fuel was used. Each propellant was supplied in two stages for soft ignition. Test results, low frequency oscillation was occurred in low flow rate conditions under 45% of design flow rate. Stable ignition in the course of design combustion pressure was able to induce by minimization of low flow rate ignition region to escape low frequency oscillation.

  • It was designed and tested ignition that an oxidizer rich preburner for a staged combustion cycle liquid rocket engine propelled by kerosene and LOx. Operation conditions of the preburner are about 60 of OF ratio and 20 MPa of combustion pressure. Ignition characteristics were compared by propellants flowrate. As the results, the higher propellants flowrate, the shorter the ignition delay time and the higher ignition stiffness. The ignition delay time was affected by incoming the oxidizer flowrate through the refrigerative cooling channels. The oxidizer flowrate from the cooling channels decreased by inflow of combustion gas during initial ignition. The oxidizer flowrate of the cooling channels increases, it is rapid recovery by cooling effect, eventually the ignition delay time decreases.

  • Excessive spending and the ever-changing fashion trends lead to an increase in material production to meet consumers' needs, which also in turn, increase the amount of industrial waste and many harmful pollutants. To address this problem, this study aimed to utilize discarded jeans' parts, reconstructing them into edgy and functional designs for everyday products. Six pairs of discarded jeans were collected and were used to create six types of functional products -three types of baskets, a bag, a slipper, and a key-holder. The benefits of up-cycling outweigh recycling because it not only increases the recycling rate, but also decreases the amount of energy and cost, thereby increasing the efficiency in recreating new innovative products. These proposed up-cycling ideas will serve as a great alternative for consumers to actively participate in reducing carbon emission, water usage, and waste to landfill by utilizing used clothing. This will guide how consumers can extend the life of their used clothing, utilize recyclable items more thoroughly, and keep used clothing out of landfills.

  • HEVC CABAC binary arithmetic decoder operates in three decoding modes i.e. regular, bypass, and termination modes, where their decoding operations and time differ a lot. Furthermore, when renormalization occurs, its internal feedback loop induces large delay. In this paper, a binary arithmetic decoder was designed to solve this problem. In advance, it checks all range values with possible renormalization. When renormalization occurs, it immediately updates range value and finishes all calculation in a cycle. When implemented in 0.18 um process technology, its maximum operating frequency and gate counts are 215 MHz and 5,423 gates, respectively.

  • The attempt of the contemporary society to overcome the environmental crisis is considered what the whole world is currently interested in. Since value of resources recycling has become emphasized even more, the field of design is, now, working hard to prove how much they are passionate about this eco-friendly design. Of all those activities that the field of design is involving in, a concept called 'upcycling' is receiving the greatest spotlight as a new trend. When it comes to upcycling, you should understand it as a both functional and aesthetic upgraded idea of conventional 'recycling' which would re-use waste resources. With this upcycling, you will have a chance to re-create an object of a new value, and it is a design concept which would consider environmental aspects but also social aspects. Since the year of 2000, the field of furniture design has been pursuing a new design trend which would intensively concern this upcycling concept. In the light of the present circumstances described on the above, this study conducts a case analysis on how upcycling of different materials is applied to furniture design since the year 2000. In doing so, the study improve understanding on furniture design as proposing new ways for you to look at the concerned design. Not only that, it also comes up with ideas and directions for new upcycling furniture design which could be demanded by the environmental industry.

  • In modern society, designers started feeling moral and social responsibility in the aspect of environment as a position of suggesting something new. Rather than creating another waste to make something innovative, the concept of Upcycling which is about adding design or utilization to the existing recyclable materials to raise their value to products or art works has started settling down. Among them, there have been various researches on the use of offcut waste to be dumped. Such use of waste can be found in Jogakbo (patchwork), one of our traditional boudoir crafts. This could be connected to the concept of the modern Upcycling in the aspect of giving new values to the wasted pieces of fabric through needlework. Therefore, this study suggested Stitch work as new Upcycling furniture by seeking for the common connections between Upcycling and traditional Jogakbo, and then reinterpreting them in the same viewpoint. It was an opportunity not only to rediscover 'the esthetics of waste' by changing the awareness of 'behavior of dumping', but also to reinterpret or reconsider the tradition. Based on this, it is expected to continuously have new attempts to use offcut waste for eco-friendly design in the future, and also to have opportunities to seek for new directions of Upcycling to rediscover new values through the revaluation of valuelessness.

Reactive Dyeing Properties of Raime/Rayon Blends Fabrics (Ramie/Rayon계 복합소재의 반응성 염료에 대한 염색성 비교 고찰)

  • 개인적 삶의 질 향상과 함께 사회적인 삶의 가치를 추구하여 인체친화적이며 동시에 환경 친화적인 제품 소비에 가치를 두는 LOHAS 트렌드의 영향으로 의류 제품에서는 소비자의 요구 수준에 맞춘 고급화, 고기능화된 의류 상품 및 소재 중심의 소비와 함께 친환경 소재, 리사이클 소재 등에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 최근 Ramie 복합 소재는 이러한 트렌드에 적합한 대표적인 소재로서 고감성/웰빙 신섬유 제품 개발을 통해 신시장 개척이 가능한 아이템으로 주목받고 있다. 한편, Ramie는 땀에 대한 흡습성과 속건성이 우수하고 청량감이 있어 주로 여름 소재로 활용되어 왔으나 촉감이 좋지 못하고 광택성이 떨어지는 단점이 있어 이를 보완하기 위해 촉감이 좋고 광택성이 뛰어난 레이온 계열의 소재와 혼방하여 고급스럽고 환경 친화적인 의류소재로써 개발이 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 레이온계 섬유 중에서 상품성이 modal 섬유 Tencel 섬유를 각각 혼방한 Ramie/Modal(28's,30's), Ramie/Tencel(28's) 복합소재의 반응성 염료에 대한 염색특성을 비교 고찰해 보았다. 실험은 Heterobifunctional type 반응성 염료 3종(Red, Yellow, Blue)을 이용하여 흡진 거동, 빌드업 특성, 겉보기 색상농도 등을 비교하였으며 1/1 standard 농도에서의 제반 견뢰도를 비교 평가하였다.

  • 최근 폐플라스틱의 사용량 증가와 미세플라스틱으로 인한 해양 오염 및 생태계 축적 등의 부정적인 영향으로 인해 플라스틱 업사이클링(upcycling) 및 리파이너리(refinery) 기술에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 화학적 재활용 방법 중의 하나로, 폐플라스틱의 열분해를 통해서 재생 연료 및 화학물질을 생산하는 연구는 90년도에 활발히 진행된 바 있고, 최근의 환경오염에 대한 대응으로서 다시 많은 관심을 받고 있다. 폐플라스틱을 효율적으로 분해하기 위해서는 촉매를 사용하여 분해 속도를 제어해 주어야 하며, 사용된 촉매의 특성에 따라 최종 생성물의 성상이 크게 달라진다. 본 기고문에서는 폐플라스틱의 촉매 열분해를 통해 가솔린, 디젤유 및 항공유와 같은 수송용 연료, 발전용 연료 혹은 방향족 화학 물질을 생산하는 기술들의 최신 연구 동향을 다루고 향후 전망에 대해 기술하고자 한다. 아울러 최근 몇 년간 많은 연구가 있었던 바이오매스와 폐플라스틱의 혼합열분해를 통한 하이브리드 촉매 공동 열분해 기술에 대해서도 다루고자 한다.
