  • This paper proposed the face recognition method which can be effectively applied to the robot's vision system. The proposed algorithm is recognition using hue extraction and feature point. hue extraction was using difference of skin color, pupil color, lips color. Features information were extraction from eye, nose and mouth using feature parameters of the difference between the feature point, distance ratio, angle, area. Feature parameters fuzzified data with the data generated by membership function, then evaluate the degree of similarity was the face recognition. The result of experiment are conducted with frontal color images of face as input images the received recognition rate of 96%.

  • The vision-based driver fatigue detection is one of the most prospective commercial applications of facial expression recognition technology. The facial feature tracking is the primary technique issue in it. Current facial tracking technology faces three challenges: (1) detection failure of some or all of features due to a variety of lighting conditions and head motions; (2) multiple and non-rigid object tracking; and (3) features occlusion when the head is in oblique angles. In this paper, we propose a new active approach. First, the active IR sensor is used to robustly detect pupils under variable lighting conditions. The detected pupils are then used to predict the head motion. Furthermore, face movement is assumed to be locally smooth so that a facial feature can be tracked with a Kalman filter. The simultaneous use of the pupil constraint and the Kalman filtering greatly increases the prediction accuracy for each feature position. Feature detection is accomplished in the Gabor space with respect to the vicinity of predicted location. Local graphs consisting of identified features are extracted and used to capture the spatial relationship among detected features. Finally, a graph-based reliability propagation is proposed to tackle the occlusion problem and verify the tracking results. The experimental results show validity of our active approach to real-life facial tracking under variable lighting conditions, head orientations, and facial expressions.

  • Face is considered to be one of the biometrics in person identification. But Face recognition is a high dimensional pattern recognition problem. Even low-resolution face images generate huge dimensional feature space. The aim of this paper is to present a fast feature extraction method for real time human face recognition. first, It compute eigen-vector and eigen-value by Principle component analysis on inputed human face image, and propose method of feature extraction that make feature vector by apply gabor filter to computed eigen-vector. And it compute feature value which multiply by made eigen-value. This study simulations performed using the ORL Database.

  • The accuracy of a real facial recognition system can be varied according to the accuracy of the eye detection algorithm when we design and implement a semi-automatic facial recognition algorithm depending on the eye position of a database. In this paper, a fully automatic facial recognition algorithm is proposed such that Gabor and LBP features are extracted from fiducial points of a face graph which was created by using fiducial points based on the eyes, nose, mouth and border lines of a face, fitted on the face image. In this algorithm, the recognition performance could be increased because a face graph can be fitted on a face image automatically and fiducial points based LPB features are implemented with the basic Gabor features. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can be used in real-time recognition for more than 1,000 faces and produce good recognition performance for each data set.

  • In this study, we developed a 3D facial modeler and animator that will not use the existing method by 3D scanner or camera. Without expensive image-input equipments, we can easily create 3D models only using front and side images. The system is available to animate 3D facial models as we connect to animation server on the WWW which is independent from specific platforms and softwares. It was implemented using Java 3D API. The facial modeler detects MPEG-4 FDP(Facial Definition Parameter) feature points from 2D input images, creates 3D facial model modifying generic facial model with the points. The animator animates and renders the 3D facial model according to MPEG-4 FAP(Facial Animation Parameter). This system can be used for generating an avatar on WWW.
