The participants were 172 day care center administrators in G, J, S City, data was collected using self report questionnaires. The data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Multiple regression analysis using SPSS 24.0. Educational needs of infectious disease 'When and how to hand wash', 'Method to clean and disinfect' were high and self-efficacy in prevention of infectious diseases on hand washing education and time were high. And there was a positive correlation between educational needs and self-efficacy in prevention of infectious diseases (r=.528, p<.001). The factors affecting self-efficacy in prevention of infectious diseases were the educational needs for the prevention of infection (β=.53, p<.001) and experience in infection prevention education (β=.25, p<.001). This study showed that it is necessary to develop and apply programs that can meet the Educational need of infectious disease for day care center administrators. Through such education, the self-efficacy in prevention of infectious diseases of participants can be improved.

  • The objective of this study is to understand the operational status of the support projects for childcare in daycare centers operated by the Support Centers for Childcare(SCC) during the COVID-19 pandemic and find ways to improve and develop the project operation. To this end, data were collected and analyzed through in-depth interviews from the 1st week to the 4th week of February 2022 with six childcare agents in charge of the support projects for childcare in daycare centers in the SCC located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. As a result of the study, it was found that the demand for diversification of project operation methods, expansion of non-face-to-face education, individual consulting, and small-scale education increased while operating the support projects for childcare in daycare centers in the SCC during the COVID-19 pandemic. Operational difficulties were found to be a lack of ability to use media, the burden of coping with unpredictable situations, and insufficient communication between daycare centers and childcare policy institutions. As for the support needs, it was found that it is necessary to employ computer specialists, establish an environment for activating online education, and provide an efficient work delivery system in emergencies.

  • This study assessed the contamination level of food poisoning bacteria on handles of food service equipment in childcare centers to prevent food poisoning and analyzed toxin genes and antibiotic resistance of isolated strains. The isolates used in this study were collected from 101 childcare centers in Jeollanam-do. Four strains of Bacillus cereus and two strains of Staphylococcus aureus were isolated on the handles of food service equipment (refrigerators and freezers). The toxin genes of B. cereus were detected as nheA, nheB, nheC, entFM, and cytK. No toxin genes of S. aureus were detected. B. cereus showed resistance to β-lactam antibiotics, such as ampicillin and cefepime. S. aureus also showed resistance to antibiotics such as ampicillin and cefepime. Therefore, microbial safety and hygiene management, such as periodic sterilization of handles, should be strengthened to prevent food poisoning caused by cross-contamination of food service equipment handles in childcare centers.
