In surgery the hemostatic control is very important for the parenchymatous organs. These organs consist of the fragile and the blood content tissues such as liver, spleen and kidney, etc.. One of the control methods to solve this problem is to insert the mono polar typed needle electrode, which gathers the thermal effect of microwave, directly into tissues so as to coagulate and stop the hemorrhage. This method has same advantages: First, the range of the heat energy is limited. Second, the coagulation, the hemostatic characteristic, and stability are excellent. Third, more convenient operation is possible. This paper is aimed to manufacture the microwave tissue coagulation system and to suggest the new direction for development, hereafter.

Background: The purpose of this study is on finding the effects of the lumbar stabilization exercise applied with the proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation technique (PNF) to the balance and the gait of chronic stroke patients. Methods: An experiment was conducted using two sets of behavioral measures with 30 chronic stroke hospitalized patients in the rehabilitation center located in Incheon city. The 15 participants in group A were instructed to apply the traditional exercise therapy. And the other 15 participants were assigned to apply the lumbar stabilization exercise with the PNF technique. It was conducted for 30 minutes per three days for six weeks, which had eighteen times. Using the balance system, it was checked about the static and dynamic balance. Using the Gaitrite, it was checked about the ability of the gait. Results: There was a better effect on both groups especially with the static balance. Those who were applied the lumbar stabilization exercise with the PNF technique had a better result on the dynamic balance and the gait than those applied the traditional exercise therapy. Conclusion: This research shows that the Lumbar Stabilization Exercise applied with the PNF technique is more effective on dynamic balance and the gait performance ability of the chronic stroke patients.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of TENS by physiotherapist versus home based TENS intervention to reduce pain and improve disability in patients with mechanical neck disorder. Methods: The subjects of the study were 30 selected patients who had been diagnosed with subacute or chronic neck disorders without neurological damage, during the period of four weeks, three times a week, and thirty minutes for one session, 15 patients received TENS by physiotherapist. 15 patients received home based TENS intervention. The primary outcome was pain intensity measured in using the Visual Analog Scale(VAS). The second outcome was Neck Disability Index to patient's disability. Results: The change in the pain perception degree were statistically significant in both group(p<0.05). TENS by physiotherapist group showed significantly improvement in disability, but, Home based TENS intervention group is not. TENS by physiotherapist group showed significantly greater improvement in pain intensity and patient's disability than the home based TENS intervention group. Conclusion: This study shows that received TENS by physiotherapist was effective in reducing pain, improving disability for mechanical neck disorder patient, physiotherapist' knowledge need to improve patient's pain and disability.
This study discusses the occupational value and the feasibility of introducing an accredited detective system that is not the only OECD country. The procedures and methods of the study were developed as qualitative research methods through review of various previous studies and case analysis in related fields. The results obtained through the study are as follows. First, detectives have various social values as public goods. It is basically a policy alternative that can improve the quality of public services and secure the soundness of national finance. This can further enhance the confidence of the people in state institutions. Second, as detectives are already legally recognized in other countries, they will be able to fulfill their social roles as new jobs through cultivation. Next, in order to advance research in the field of accredited detective systems, research based on quantitative data should be more active.

Purpose: This study was aimed to determine the effects of thoracic spine thrust manipulation on muscle activities of the scapular upward rotators and middle deltoid, active range of motion (AROM), shoulder pain, and rounded shoulder posture in young adults with rounded shoulder. Methods: The subjects were 30 young adults (14 males, 16 females) with rounded shoulder. Thirty subjects were randomly assigned to an experimental (manipulation) and control (placebo) groups of fifteen subjects respectively. The manipulation group received the manipulation (high velocity, low amplitude), which was performed by a physical therapist with the subject in the supine position and with the arms crossed over the chest and hands passed over the shoulders. For the sham group, the same procedure was performed, with the exception that the high-velocity thrust was not applied. Measurements were taken before and after the intervention. Muscle activity of upper and lower trapezius, serratus anterior, middle deltoid was measured using surface electromyography. Visual analog scale (VAS) was used for shoulder pain. Goniometry was used for shoulder abduction active range of motion (AROM). Straight edge was used for supine rounded shoulder posture (RSP) distance. Results: The muscle activity of the upper trapezius, lower trapezius and middle deltoid muscle increased significantly after the intervention (p<.05). However, no significant difference was observed in serratus anterior muscle (p>.05). The VAS was significantly decreased and AROM significantly increased after the intervention (p<.05). The distance of RSP were not significant (p>.05). The control group showed no differences before and after the intervention (p>.05). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that thoracic spine thrust manipulation can be an effective component of treatment plan to improve pain and function.

Background: Lateral epicondylitis is the most common complaint with complex etiological and pathophysiological factors on the lateral side of elbow. Taping techniques commonly used for lateral epicondylitis. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mobilization with movement taping and diamond taping on the pain, grip strength and functional activity in patients with lateral epicondylitis Methods: Twenty patients with lateral epicondylitis (mobilization with movement taping group: n=10, diamond taping group: n=10) were recruited. They were evaluated pre-treatment, after 1weeks, and after 3weeks, using visual analog scale, pain free grip strength test, patient-rated tennis elbow evaluation. Results: Analysis showed statistcally significant improvement in all time in both groups. and The mean improvement in pre-1weeks visual analog scale was significantly greater in the Diamond taping group than that in the mobilization with movement taping group. and the mean improvement in pre-1weeks pain free grip strength test was significantly greater in the mobilization with movement taping than that in the diamond taping group. Conclusion: Taping technique to patients with lateral epicondylitis can help improve pain, grip strength, functional activity and initial taping technique can be selected depending on the patient's condition and the desired goal.
Purpose: The intention of this study was to investigate the effects of modified constraint-induced movement therapy (mCIMT) with bilateral arm training (BAT) on the motor performance and daily activity performance of individuals with chronic hemiparetic stroke. Methods: Sixteen subjects one year after stroke participated in this study with a control group; the pretest-posttest method was used. The subjects were randomly allocated into two groups: combination of bilateral arm training and modified constraint-induced movement therapy (n=8), and modified constraint-induced movement therapy (n=8). The mCIMT group received therapy for 90 minutes in 3 sessions per week over a period of 4 weeks. The patients receiving a combination of mCIMT and BAT were treated for the same period and frequency. The results were evaluated using the Fugl-Meyer Assessment, Action Research Arm Test (ARAT), and Motor Activity Log-Amount of Use, and Quality of Movement (MAL-AOU, QOM) assessment tools. Results: The Fugl-Meyer Assessment showed that hand and wrist performance improved significantly more in the mCIMT group than in the Combination group (p<0.05). Result from the ARAT assessment showed greater scores for gross movement in the combined group than in the mCIMT group (p<0.05). The MAL-AOU showed that there was greater improvement in the combined group than in the mCIMT group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The forced use of the more affected side can be important for the enhancement of upper extremity performance for chronic hemiparetic stroke patients during their daily activities.
