The aim of the study was to identify the effects of two different diets (sand eels or saurels) on the serum protein electrophoretic patterns of Oriental White Storks held in captivity. The tests were performed on two groups of storks according to the diet (group 1 and 2). Twenty-two (group 1) or twenty-nine (group 2) storks were included. The values of complete blood count (CBC), serum biochemistry profiles, protein fractions (albumin, ${\alpha}$-globulin, ${\beta}$-globulin, and ${\gamma}$-globulin), and lipoprotein (high density- [HDL] and low density lipoprotein [LDL]) were compared between samples obtained during two groups (p < 0.05). The ${\alpha}$-globulin fraction was decreased and the ${\beta}$-globulin fraction was significantly increased in samples obtained from group 1 compared to those obtained from group 2. In group 1, the concentration of LDL was also significantly increased compared to that of group 2. In conclusion, we confirmed that the ${\beta}$-globulin fraction was significantly elevated in storks fed sand eels.

"존재하는 사물은 무엇이나 일정한 양으로 존재한다."라는 말이 있다. 계측은 바로 이 양을 결정하는 것이다. 계측 과정 또는 행위는 미리 정해진 표준과 피측정물 사이의 양적인 비교로써 이루어진다. 계측은 여러 가지 사물을 정량적으로 파악함은 물론이고, 자동 제어하기 위한 수단으로서의 방법이나 장치, 더 나아가 처리 등을 포함하는 넓은 의미를 갖고 있다. 따라서 사물의 현상이나 상태를 특징 짓는 양을 정의하거나 선정해서, 그것을 수치로 나타내는 조작은 계측의 일부라고 생각할 수 있다.

고성능 모바일 기기가 보급화 됨에 따라 증강 현실, 3D 게임과 같은 고사양 응용들이 출시되고 있다. 이러한 응용들의 응답성은 모바일 기기의 품질을 결정하는 중요한 요소들 중 하나이다. 기존 연구에 따르면 고사양 응용들 중 하나인 웹 브라우저의 응답 시간에서 페이지 zeroing 에 소요되는 시간이 적지 않은 비중을 차지한다. 본 논문은 페이지 zeroing 에 소요되는 시간을 단축하기 위해 적응형 페이지 선 zeroing 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 응답 시간이 아닌 구간에서 페이지들을 미리 zeroing 하여 보관해 두었다가 응답 시간인 구간에서 페이지 할당 요청 시 미리 zeroing 된 페이지들을 응용에게 제공한다. 이를 리녹스 커널 3.4 가 탑재된 Nexus 5 에 구현하였고 실험을 통해 확인한 결과, 모델링 된 응용의 응답 시간이 평균 39.52% 단축됨을 확인하였다.

생산 기술이 발전함에 따라 제품의 생산량이 증가하고 컴퓨터 비전을 통한 제품의 양/불 판단 기술의 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 제품의 양/불 판단은 그 정확도가 중요하며, 동시에 빠른 검사를 위한 신속성이 요구된다. 기존 연구들에서 다양한 금속성 제품에 대한 양/불 판단과 각인된 글자에 대한 양/불 판단을 수행하는 연구가 지속되어 왔으나 자동차 에어백 부품 중 하나인 Upper Housing의 양/불을 판단하는 알고리즘은 부재하다. 본 논문에서는 Upper Housing에 대해 각인 문자의 양/불을 판정하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 먼저 영상에서 기준점이 되는 원을 찾는 것부터 시작하여, 기준점을 기반으로 특정 각도로 회전시켜 미리 수집한 글자 이미지와의 템플릿 매칭을 통해 글자가 제대로 각인 되었는지를 판단한다. 실험에서는 에어백 부품에 대한 검사 장치에서 촬영한 동영상에 대하여 제안한 알고리즘을 적용하였고, 그 결과 높은 정확도로 글자를 검출할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

The coadsorption of carbon monoxide and oxygen on polycrystalline nickel surface has been studied using XPS at the room temperaure. The adsorption of CO on the nickel surface precovered partially with oxygen is found to take place by the following steps: The CO molecules react with the preadsorbed oxygen atoms to liberate $CO_2$ gas at the initial stage of low CO exposures, and they are coadsorbed gradually with the increasing CO exposures. The extent of coadsorption at the higher CO exposures is found to decrease with the increasing degree of oxygen preadsorption. This finding is explained in terms of the reduced adsorption site for CO as a consequence of oxygen preadsorption. The CO molecules preadsorbed on the nickel surface inhibited the adsorption of $O_2$ molecules. The increase of oxygen exposure led to the dissociation of preadsorbed CO, and the NiO layers were formed concurrently. The dissociation was rendered to arise from an oxygen-to-CO energy transfer.

원활한 용수의 수급은 성공적인 농업의 필수조건이다. 지난해 봄은 전국이 오랜 가뭄으로 시달렸다. 그런데 어떻게 가을에는 풍년이 들었는가? 이유는 모내기에 필요한 농업용수 대부분이 가뭄 발생전에 모아져 저수지에서 공급되었기 때문이다. 그러나 금년 봄의 가뭄은 작년보다 훨씬 가혹할 전망이다. 미리 확보해 둔 물의 양이 훨씬 적기 때문이다.
